Kuro no Maou

Episode 49: Belly Peco Witch

That day, when I finished handing out ice candy to various villagers, I arrived home, of course, I didn't continue to take any quests yesterday.

Well, it doesn't matter if you don't have to do the quest every day so much, if you just want to live.

I go down the street with Lily on my shoulder and thinking about how to sell ice candy recipes to the Merchant Guild.

The return journey against the backdrop of a twilight sunset on this straight street also became a familiar one.

Normally, it's enough to occasionally be different from a trafficker pulling a foot or a carriage, but only on this day, I discovered someone I'd never seen before.

The person sat on his back with a tree that grows on the side of the street and doesn't even move with Pickle - he was a witch.

"You're a witch no matter what you think..."

He covers his face with a big black triangle hat like the only one I've ever seen in a picture book.

I can see that the robe is as pitch-black as I am, but it is decorated with feathers at the neck and so on, and it is superior even in the distance.

Her longscepter (staff), which would be her weapon, is also standing right beside her.

The more I see it, the more perfectly witch-looking people, the more I kind of remember feeling like I had suddenly gotten into a fairy tale world.

Well, maybe it's not such a strange event because this is a different world, but it's more than that.

"... what are we supposed to do in these cases?

I don't know what to do right, and Lily's got her neck tied.

Apparently he's asleep, but there's no way he's taking a nap (though it's already evening) in a place like this.

But if it's sudden, I'm probably the only one who can help, and there's no street at night.

But that's not why he looks sick enough to say no.

So, what, in other worlds, it's natural to see witches sleeping in the streets at dusk just because I don't know?

I just thought about how much, and naturally we all have no idea how this witch is sleeping in this place.

Should I speak up or go through?

When I thought about it, I wanted to speak up to the witch.

"- You have something delicious there, don't you?

A witch spoke out of the blue, and for the first time, a rude dialogue of content.

"What, were you awake?

Too abruptly, when the witch spoke, I accidentally forgot to speak respectfully and responded with vegetables.

"I'm very hungry right now, I want something delicious"

The witch gently restarts the triangular hat on her face to her head.

That way, the hidden face becomes dewy.

A badly sleepy bongy look, but still beautiful enough to instantly interrupt the face of a decent girl.

The skin is white, but pale watery short hair with golden eyes and slightly unusual coloring, but the race is probably human.

Since magic also affects the traits of objects, those who naturally possess colors in areas such as hair, skin and eyes that are unlikely in the original world are not extraordinarily rare in this other world.

Speaking of which, I guess it's vegan, not sleepy, to be half-eyed like this, given the clarity of the tone I said, "I want something delicious".

"I want something delicious.

I want to eat something delicious. "

"All right, I'll do the food, you listen to me."

"Is that true? Thank you."

There has been little change in her expression, but I didn't miss that she did have joyful emotions.

My sister was a very faceless person, so I have some confidence in her ability to read human complexions that lack facial changes.

Even with the same faceless expression, there are some types that are rich in emotions just because they don't show up on your face, and some that are as emotional and flat as your sister.

I intuitively thought this witch was the former type.

"Oh, sweet if you can, please"

"... I get it."

Then, it looks like a terribly my-paced personality.

I take out ice candy over shadow space, thinking I've gotten involved with someone who looks like a lot of trouble.

"Aisuki!

"I've already had three today, so I'll see you tomorrow"

It's not good to spoil too much, I ghosted my heart and decided to give Lily up to three ice creams a day.

So I won't give you a look like that.

"What is it, this?

"Ice candy, like frozen fruit juice."

"I'll try it for the first time, thanks for the rare stuff"

Already the witch's gaze is nailed to ice candy, it remains as faceless as ever, but its eyes dwell on the raptor's gleam in front of its prey.

Keep swinging Swissy and Ice Candy left and right, and the witch will chase you face to face as you move.

"... is it Ijwal?

"Sman, with"

I accidentally played like staring at ice candy too seriously.

I handed the ice candy to the witch, desperately indulging in feelings of laughter.

"Shh shh shh shh -!?

"Delicious?

- It's delicious.

Ice candy quickly disappeared into the witch's mouth, the fastest complete meal time among the villagers who ate ice cream today.

"You still had sweet, delicious things, as I can see"

"What is it, Sole, a witch's guess?

The container with the ice candy should not leak any smell, of course not visible from the outside, in the shadow space.

"No, I can see you're hiding delicious things even within an extended space"

"... is that true?

"I know, I'm just saying."

Is that what a witch can tell? I've always thought of the secrecy of shadow space as absolute, but does the art of seeing through or the skill exist?

Could he, in fact, be an amazing witch? Or is he a very talented eater?

Well, there's a lot to be concerned about, but first,

"So, why were you sleeping here?

It doesn't start with not asking this.

"Because I'm hungry"

"Were you going down?

"That's how it is."

I say such a trick all the time, despite a situation that is lightly life-threatening.

"Then you have to eat something more bloated than ice cream"

"Me, sweet things don't have eyes"

"Not if you like it or not, because there's a village called Iles if you walk a little, so buy something there.

Or do you have the money?

"If it's gold, I have it. - Here."

So, when I stuck my hand in my hat, I took out a large gold coin I had never seen from it.

On one side there is a portrait of a horizontal woman, and on the other side there is a laurel-like edge with what appears to be a circular magic formation that has never been seen.

It must have been something that has been used for quite some time as a currency, with a slightly rubbed or missing surface.

But if you look at those fine scratched areas that emit a golden glow unchanged, you can see that they are apparently not gold-plated and contain a fair amount of gold.

I don't know that the exact value won't try to measure the gold content, but it is predictable that it will slightly exceed at least one gold coin.

No, wait, the big gold coin is also surprising, but that gold coin came out of the hat in the first place, probably using the same magic that expands the space as the shadow space.

Unlike me, if you've truly mastered spatial magic (Dimension), it's at least three if you're an adventurer's rank.

After all, it doesn't seem like you're just a witch dressed up.

"If you have such fine gold coins, you can buy anything"

"Really? Now, with this gold coin, you can just buy an ice candy earlier."

"I'm sorry, but I just sold you out, or you told me to buy the bloated thing, not the ice cream, right?

"Sweet things don't have eyes."

I just heard that.

Are you okay?

"In the meantime, can we walk to the village of Iles? We should be here in an hour or so."

"That's all right."

"Well, well, maybe a traveling witch would have taken extra care of you"

People traveling in different worlds are not uncommon, adventurers, merchants, bards, and so on.

"You gave me something delicious, so it's nothing.

Are you a traveler, too?

"No, I 'm-- oh, you didn't name me yet, I'm Chrono, and this one is..."

"It's Lily."

"You two are doing an adventurer."

Show me my guild card so I can clearly identify myself.

"What is this?

"It's a guild card, but you don't know it?

"I've never seen a guild card here before"

Is it possible that 'here' Koto is from another country?

No, wait, surely this guild card should be quite widespread and common on the Pandora continent.

If so, it may have come from beyond the great desert in the west or from so many frontiers.

"If you're confident in magic, shouldn't you be registering adventurers? Even when the bank runs out, you'll make money soon."

Most importantly, if you have many of those big gold coins, it is only on a year-by-year basis that the holdings will be bottom.

"Yes, because I was going to be an adventurer soon, too.

When I get to a city called Sparda, I'm going to sign up there. "

Sparda is certainly an urban state in Daedalus territory and the adjacent central continent, just beyond the Galahad Mountains from the village of Iles.

I've never been there, but it seems to be particularly famous among a few city states on the continent of Pandora, and I know only that name even if I'm only a country adventurer.

"Now, I don't have that guild card, so let me show you this one -"

That's what I said, I did the hat again and took out a single card.

That was the correct card, made of thick paper like a trading card, unlike a metal plate guild card like the dog tag I had.

The letters written there are alphabetical modkies specific to different worlds.

"Fiona Soleil"

Apparently that's her name.

Maybe having a last name means I'm a wakaari with a good toko, such as a nobleman, as I was once suspected.

Well, it's the courtesy of adventurers not to pry around it, so we should keep it through here.

The class looks like it says magician, adventurer rank, but it seems to be different from this guild and I don't know how much stuff it is.

"If you're an adventurer, you can live anywhere, but don't go down as far as you can."

"Yes, I think I'd always be happy if I had a full stomach too"

No, that's not what I'm talking about... well, no.

"Well, we're going now, Mr. Fiona, before it gets dark."

"Yes, I'll see you later"

"Oh, if only I had an edge"

That's how I broke up with a slightly strange witch named Fiona and headed home again.

But why do both Mr. Fiona and the villagers pronounce ice-can ‘de’?
