Kuro no Maou
Episode 267: Prototyped Rifles
It is the school's practice area that has come all the way up to kicking the princess's charming invitation.
There are several kinds of exercises, even this Royal Sparda Seminary, such as a battlefield (Coliseum), a Yamano in anticipation of battle, and even an underground facility that mimics a monumental dungeon.
Amongst other things, I have a place to try and shoot bows and attack magic, not that I have exaggerated equipment.
It's just an outdoor space with dolls standing apart and targeted at the right distance, and all that's left is just as big as the ground.
For once, the dirt and sand walls surrounding the perimeter and the defensive junction are unfolding, so there's no stray bullet danger if I burst the demon bullet in full.
Well, whoever's waiting for me here,
"Oh, brother, I bought you a new robe. I mean, coat?
"Mmm, I can feel some nasty signs coming from that coat. Ha, no way, of an abominable demon buried in far ancient times."
Simon and Will talk about something spectacular.
Beyond being in school, that outfit naturally looks like a uniform. Will is also well equipped with the proven red cape of the executive candidate.
"'The Devil's Embrace (Diabolos Embrace)'. What do you say, you look good?
Tighten your chest a bit proudly and appeal to this lovely black coat.
"Yeah!"
"What's not good, no way really is a demonic material protective gear!?
Now I'm here, and the knowledgeable Will actually seems to have understood the awesomeness of this coat the most.
Wherever I bought it, how much it was. It's interesting to react every time I answer.
Well, normally if you think about it, it should be a luxury item that you can't buy unless it's an upper level compartment store, you'd be surprised if it was a free transfer at a store near the school.
But it's not just Will that surprises me, it's mine too.
Because these two are all wearing the same gun on their shoulders.
"So, is he the prototype rifle?
"Yeah, I just got it from you. It's a test shot now."
Yes, this is the point.
Since that day, more than a month before Simon launched his plan to mass-produce guns, he has been secretly developing them, and today, the prototype is finally complete.
"Can I see it?
Of course, receive a rifle from Simon, who answers with pleasure and confidence.
"... wow, this is a really normal rifle gun already"
If I were to put it more strictly, I'd call it a bolt-actioned small gun.
In war movies and such, if a soldier has a scene where he pulls it off and loads a bullet, with his hands a lever, a play bottom (bolt), then that's a bolt-action-style small gun.
This prototyped rifle is reminiscent of the model gun of a Type 38 infantry gun used by the Japanese army in the Pacific War, once shown to me by a friend of gunmania.
Perhaps there is something more similar, simply because there are many guns in this form in reality.
"Can this really be loaded if you pull the play bottom (bolt)?
"Try it if it works properly."
That said, Simon's expression is full of certainty of success.
Let's see if this genius alchemist really succeeded in developing a bolt-actioned manual series of guns from a single, flint-lock-like gun.
Returning the gun with anticipation,
"Well, look at my research results!
Simon set up a rifle in the motion of entering the hall as the target doll stood.
The target doll has a red jelly flesh like the slime took the shape of a person.
Apparently, that jelly is just as hard as human flesh, and besides arrows and magic, it's ideal for cutting it with a sword, poking it with a spear.
Finally, this red color reminds me of flesh and makes me resist killing in real life.
By the way, this is not a wax that uses wild slime as a raw material, but is automatically generated by magic appliances (magic items) that apply summoning techniques (samons).
But there's no way it's free.
"Well, I'll shoot you"
As I responded, a muzzle flash flashed from the mouth of the prototype rifle and a dry firing noise sounded.
The bullet, which was fired without erupting, flew straight away and was seen hitting the head of the doll slime.
If that was a real person, it would be falling to the ground with blood and brains scattered.
As the doll slime blows out the red jelly, it overlaps with the Crusader soldier I shot to death.
The moment I thought of that, Simon finally put his hand on the playbottom (bolt) to load the next bullet and drain the pod from the internal stationary magazine to the drugstore.
Almost as expected, the different worlds version of the bolt action, along with the metal noise Gachari, works correctly,
Pa!
and fires a brilliantly reloaded bullet.
As it was, Simon repeated the same operation three times, finishing the test shot.
In total, five bullets fired had been hit without taking a single shot off target.
"That's amazing, Simon, isn't it perfect!
"Shit!
Simon and hi-touch in a half-excited mood to see the gun done as you imagine it to be.
Based on my awkward knowledge, I commend the genius of an alchemist who built a bolt-actioned small gun in such an early period of time.
"Oh, my God, Will, you look slightly less funny."
I have one friend who hasn't been able to share Simon's joy with me.
"No, I was hoping because it's a new gun, but somehow, you know, it's plain."
"What?"
Will, you've now turned the planet's gunmaniacs and firearms manufacturers and the National Rifle Association against the enemy.
Simon also looks like, "Oh, I don't know anything about him."
And more importantly, I'd say the shooting was "plain" or something. That sensibility totally stepped on the mine in my mind.
"It's plain, the bolt action was working and it was a perfect reload."
"Is that the one you were chattering about?
"Yes, thanks to this mechanism, we can load the next bullet quickly. Look, it's like putting a bullet through the muzzle. Initial. Then even if you reload well, it'll take nearly a minute. This is a technical breakthrough in gun history, and you don't know how awesome it is!
Bolt action is a typical method equipped by infantry from around the world until the next, more modern, mainstream automatic small arms appear.
Even today, bolt action has an advantage in terms of precision, maintenance and durability due to its simple structure compared to automatic, and continues to be used for sniping, hunting and competition due to the appropriateness of precision shooting.
To put it this way, today, gun technology in different worlds has only marginally but surely caught up with current technology on the planet.
"Yeah, but it doesn't even explode, does it?
"It's not even great if it explodes or glows!? All that matters is whether or not you get the minimum amount of killing power you need to kill your opponent! Don't call that rationality plain or anything!
"Oh, the... sorry, it was my fault"
I reassure Will, who unexpectedly apologizes with vegetables, that he has finally shown his understanding.
"You know, most importantly, Will will try and shoot this gun too and experience the beauty of it."
"Oh, yeah."
Will, who gave me a pleasant reply, pointed the gun at me fifty meters away, just like Simon earlier, even though he took a slightly less expensive stance.
"Huh, it's getting kind of hot."
"But it's still about your brother who understands how good a gun is."
And I also respond with a smile to Simon with a satisfying grin.
"No, I'm sure more and more people are going to recognize the power of guns from now on. My God, a genius alchemist made me amazing."
and stroke Simon's gray hair with a wasp.
You look a little embarrassed, but you're honestly delighted to receive my compliments.
"So, but look, I'm going to be able to use it in action, and I'm worried about its durability because it incorporates a more complex mechanism this time."
"Sure, I'll have to actually use it there and improve it if something goes wrong"
Bolt action can only be described as simple in structure compared to automatic small arms. I can see at first glance that it has a more complex structure than compared to swords and bows.
I can shoot fine at this stage for now, Will keeps shooting pampered in the back, so that proves it.
However, if this is actually used for outdoor combat when exposed to windstorms, applied to mud, and sometimes with unexpected shocks, it is important to know whether or not this bolt action will continue to work properly.
Unexpected malfunctions, including phenomena called bullet clogging, jamming, etc. that rarely occurred in previous single-shot ceremonies, are likely to occur sufficiently.
Other than that, there will be a lot of improvements such as taking it around by actually using it.
There is still no other way to improve the trial and error repeatedly, because in this other world, Simon's gun is the first piece, and there is nothing that can be helpful.
If I can temporarily return to the original world, I can't help but pause a tiny bit of the M4 carbine from the US military base... No, I can't help it.
"In the meantime, is this a policy to improve this bolt-action formula for the real world?
"Yeah, if you're automatic, it's a little hard on boulders. And even if you do, there are many parts, and they're fine, and I'm worried if you can produce them properly."
The manufacture of automatic small arms on boulders is likely to be considerably ahead of schedule.
If I was more familiar with guns, or even enlisted in the militia and experienced disassembly and cleaning of type 89 small guns, I might have remembered the shape of the detailed parts as well.
"No, if you're just dealing with a crusader infantry armed with spears and bows, a bolt-action formula is enough"
If it could be successfully produced, it could simply make soldiers the same level of equipment they had at the time of the Pacific War.
Most importantly, without other firearms, such as machine guns, we can't say the exact same thing.
"Speaking of which, from what I've seen, it looks like the ammo was built entirely new"
"Yeah, 'cause I'm not going to be wacky getting your brother to make it every time."
The bullet comes from round lead balls and is in a completely conical shape with a drug casing.
Even if I take one of these bullets, it consists of a warhead part that I can build, a pod part filled with gunpowder, and two or more parts. Because the mass production system is not in place, it will be quite expensive to build a single shot.
"In the end, how much does it take to make one of these?
"Uh, roughly a million clans, including bullets"
What a price to buy a single weapon of curse.
No, you can say it's cheap if you think it's made from total ich, or no, either way, the problem is:
"Wait, did you get two million clans out of having two soles?
As I promised Simon before, I give him some money for development.
I also gave him nearly half of Jote's bounty, and, well, it turned out to be half Lily and Fiona's when I bought armor because of this, not to mention the amount that pretty much came together should have gone into Simon's nostalgia, but it shouldn't have reached the 2 million clan.
"Will will buy the second one."
"Oh, boulders are royal."
"In installments"
Apparently, the blood tax on the Spartan people is not used to equip the prince.
Fulfilling that, I doubt Will can make a million clans on his own while he's at school, but let's just send Yale as a friend to do his best.
"But then you end up needing two million on hand. Where'd you sprain it from?
"Oh, that's the money my sister Leah gave me for tuition."
Simon, who says it's obvious. What do you mean, you don't feel guilty about spending your tuition, this kid?
No, tuition was a stomach buildup to make my own money in the first place, where my sister told me to pay for school, and I honestly don't even need to spend it. I don't know if that's why I would use it for a completely different purpose, but think about it in a step-by-step way.
But I guess that money made me a prototype gun that you gave me. Whatever you think, I don't think the investment I've made will suffice.
"It's still there, and it's going to be enough to improve it."
"Oh well..."
Not good, I need Simon to invest enough money to not have to get his hands on your sister's money soon.
In the meantime, shall I give you the funds for the purchase of the robe that was supposed to run out today?
"Oh, yeah, I've implemented an ‘array’ on my gun since this time."
And it is a single dagger knife that Simon took out while rhetorically worrying about slightly.
A blade with a simple design but a sharp glow reminiscent of a massive and extraordinary cleavage.
Well, I remember seeing it somewhere...
What a roundabout, Simon quickly put that dagger knife on the barrel of a prototype rifle.
"Oh, a gunsword!
"Yeah, I could have done this as soon as I heard the idea."
At first glance, there would be no functionality more understandable. If you put a blade on the tip of a rifle with a long barrel, that's all you can do for a short spear (short trans) to handle a melee.
The boulder is Simon, picking up exactly what's available out of my cluttered story and realizing it.
"But using this means the enemy is in front of you, so I hope you don't get a chance to use it if you can"
"Haha, yeah, but -"
Simon continued his words as he looked somewhere dazzled at the brilliance of the dagger knife attached to the barrel of the gun.
"I feel like this Mr. Suse dugger knife is going to protect me again."
Finally got to the point.
The design is like everywhere, so I didn't know right away, but I can clearly remember it if you ask me.
That its dagger knife is indeed one of a number of infantry and heavy knight throat-cutting dishes in the river plains of Alsace.
"Oh, yeah, I'm sure he'll protect you again."
