Kuro no Maou

Episode 483: Priestly Work

The moon of darkness 27th. Today, my life as a priest begins.

After I get up, I get myself and Sariel fit and get to the first job of the day.

"Um, I just had to ring it about three times."

It is to ring a bell indicating the time. As was the case at the seminary in Sparda, this method is used everywhere to inform time widely in this world.

That is the role of the Church in Sinclair. The spire with the symbol of a cross on the heavenly side is also an institution for ringing this bell.

Looking up at a large bell set about three stories high, I pulled a suspended rope to let the 202nd Pioneering Village know what time it was in the morning. It's currently 6: 00 a.m.

"Good morning, Gozaimer!

"Good morning, Lord Chloe"

I finished ringing the bell connectively, the dining room for breakfast, albeit in the substantial living room, but as I headed there, Leki and Ursula greeted me in a fine morning.

Seeing you already in monastic clothes, it doesn't look like you woke up with my bell. Both of you, you seem to be up early.

"Morning."

"Good Morning"

Already, I'm carrying Saliel. If I don't carry him, Saliel can't move a step out of bed because he doesn't have both legs.

Given her body, it may be a reasonable place to sleep in bed, but I'm not going to keep him asleep all day.

In playing the priest, Saliel's follow-up is, of course, essential, for the great reason that he simply doesn't want to keep his eyes open. I can't, but I'm gonna take Sariel around.

"Dinner's almost ready."

"Right, thanks. You're in charge."

"Cookies are the work of the Lekies, Death! Lord Chloe is a happy man to be able to eat Leki's Gohan every day. Yo!

You seem to remember a lot of cooking skills. Leki rushed back to the kitchen as she made her hair like dog ears jump piompion.

In the meantime, me and Saliel right now. Then I don't even know what I'm doing here yet, so I can't help Locke. Let's make it sweet for both of us for today.

And there's something I need to ask you before I do. After Leki, he stopped Ursula, who cursorily walked out.

"Do you do morning worship?

"Yeah."

and Ursula nodding with a blurry face. Um, this kid, I feel a little like Fiona. I feel familiar with that faceless look, but I hope it doesn't even resemble eating.

"Dinner, by the time we're done, we're all coming together."

"All the villagers?

"Yeah, just enthusiastic people...... thirty, maybe?

"Okay. Let's get ready."

I dropped off Ursula snorting cocklessly and then I snapped with a glimmer of sweat on my cheek.

"... good to hear it first"

That includes two meanings: ascertaining if you are doing your morning prayer, and hearing from Saliel that such a ritual is in the Cross.

I said to myself, "What's your morning prayer? I heard nothing else, because Sariel told me to check, and he woke up and advanced early.

If Sariel hadn't distracted herself and I just blurted out thinking "what do priests usually do" with breakfast, thirty villagers there would have panicked at the time of the zorozolo gathering. I want to avoid peeling off my skin as soon as possible.

I arrived at the table with Sariel and decided to have a thoughtful meeting.

"Hey! I got a breakfast. Yo!

After a short while, Leki appeared slightly holding something like a big torso pan. From the pan placed with Dawn on the table, the aroma of soup stimulated the appetite at the same time as the bright white hot air could stand in.

This is the main dish, and there is only one other piece of black bread that seems to be a staple. Ursula is quick and prepares bread and dishes. It's a fine and elegant breakfast, but I haven't bourgeois enough to wear a kettle.

I still think so. Anything but experimental facility gelo soup would be appreciated.

"Oh, that looks delicious"

"Hmm, what a gorgeous day of soup with meat in it too, Dace!

"Armored bear, delicious"

Oh, the meat of the armored bear that Sariel tailored.

Normally, that Te monster ends up selling off to the Adventurer Guild, but in the pioneering village where neither the guild nor the buyer exists in the first place, it will consume itself as it is. So within the yesterday I brought in, the armored bear has just been dismantled by the hands of the villagers and made into meat, fur, crust and each material.

Well, maybe I'll put the fur and crust up for sale somewhere when I get a chance, or I'll have a pedestrian buy it off. Either way, there's no other way for us to eat the raw meat part ourselves.

As a matter of fact, yesterday's dinner was also quickly followed by a dish made with the meat of this armored bear.

"Master Chloe brought it for you, Desho? Tenkyu!"

"I knew I was the Savior."

There's still a poor pioneering village, and meat to eat in the middle of winter, and the two seem overjoyed. Seeing this smile, I might compliment Saliel for doing a good job.

"Well, shall we eat it while it's not cold? I'll have it."

The moment I said that, Leki and Ursula stared at me with a pocan face.

"... prayer before meals"

Bosoli, and the moment Sariel muttered next door, I realized.

Oh, well, crucifixion is a word of prayer before a meal.

Speaking of which, I feel like Christianity had that too. Thank you for your grace, like. I guess it's similar to that.

Goddamn it, I suddenly wore it out in the trivial. Hey, white god, did you put up a cunning trap...

"Pre-food prayer, we don't"

"What, that's okay Death? Huh!?

"That's okay. I will not be tied to custom. It's not just the nature of faith that keeps its form."

I don't know what you're talking about for a second, but for now, that's Priest Chloe's policy.

"Yay, I hate it because it's so subtly long"

"Yes, it's important to eat the food quickly before it gets cold. That is also a courtesy to those who cooked for me. Thanks, Leki, Ursula. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the two of you for cooking delicious food."

"Yeesh! Well, there you go!

"Itadakimus"

Did the two convince me for now, subtly mouthing different intonations of "I'll have it," and I started eating.

Apparently, you succeeded in pushing through my unintelligible theory... but if you two weren't kids, you probably wouldn't have.

"... sorry"

"No, don't apologize."

To make sure the two of you didn't hear me, I went through Saliel's apology and reached for breakfast, too.

The cheap black bread I haven't eaten in a long time since my life in the village of Iles is hard and pasty and honest, it's not tasty. However, the hot armored bear soup tasted close to pork juice and tasted pretty good. If I find it in the woods, I'll try to hunt it too.

"- In heaven, our God."

Morning prayer progressed unconnectively.

Because it is a routine ritual in the Cross, the content is not so difficult, nor does it take long.

It starts with a pattern similar to yesterday's funeral, where I recite a passage of the Bible on the stage, starting with a prayer of my own accord.

The place to read the Bible has been decided, and it is natural for those who have officially become priests to recite it there. However, the very act of reading the Bible seems to make sense, so no one turns a suspicious eye if I turn the page and read it out in grandeur.

Thanks to prior rehearsal, the place to read is perfect. And then the more morning greetings you have with the villagers, the more you dissolve them. Without Sariel's support, I was able to end my worship without any problems.

"Well, next... class, or..."

When it comes to the work of priests, it is a ceremony such as a coronation. Sure, they are important work performed by priests, and by the Cross, but there are hundreds of these people in the village, and so there can't be a wedding funeral every day.

The funeral just went yesterday. At last there are considerably fewer old people in this village because only people come on the assumption of pioneering. Now I heard that the mayor of Randolph was the third elderly man from above.

In other words, for a while there will be no one who is likely to make full life. If there's a dead person, about an accidental accident, such as being attacked by a monster.

And then the wedding, I don't have plans for a while. The young men and women in this village seem to be largely already married, and until their children are adults, there will be no marriage rush. Of course, by that time, I'm already out of this village.

And naturally, it is decided that the event will take place in a year. By the way, as a celebration of the Crucifixion, the closest that will take place now is on the first day of the month of Dawn, or New Year's Eve, a ritual called 'Worship of the New Year'. Today is the 27th, so only five days from now.

Personally, though, I can only think of the feeling that another year will come to an end. If you're going to ask Saliel about 'Worship of the New Year' and get ready, you'll be able to clear it without a problem.

Now, it's about the class that I'm supposed to do today.

As can be seen from the word 'seminary', religious institutions have also acted as educational institutions that teach academia more than in ancient times.

Most importantly, even in modern times, seminaries in Sparta are the name of schools as the remainder of the original establishment, and the Church is not in charge of all education, including the Elysion Magic Academy attended by Fiona, even in Sinclair.

However, that is a story confined to urban areas, where the population has also developed in large numbers, and the church is apparently the only school in a country like this one. So it becomes a typical task for a priest seconded to a province to teach basic things such as reading and writing calculations.

Most importantly, Sariel's story suggests that the Church's basic education system is not fully functional, as the literacy rate is not so high in Sinclair or rural areas.

The person who wants to learn a solid discipline leaves the village in the first place, and if he stays a peasant, he has no problem with not being able to study at all. Because peasants are peasants, and they have as much work to do.

Aside from that general educational circumstance, classes seem to take place quite firmly in this pioneering village. Anything, I was told by Randolph that the example Priest Nicolai seemed to be an enthusiastic person for education and was trying to teach the children of the village, or even adults if they wished, to study, including the two apprenticeship sisters Leki and Ursula.

Then I'll have to, too. At least, it should be better that way.

"... to be honest, this is the most nervous part"

"Knowledge up to two years of high school doesn't interfere with classes"

"Well, it's perfect enough to add up to reading and writing, but teaching people that would be another matter"

Well, they're little kids. You don't have to do anything, you're going to cry just because I saw it.

"So, do you want to stop?

"No, I will"

"Okay. Then leave history and biblical decryption to me"

"Oh, I asked for it"

Thus, I prepared a blackboard in the chapel and waited for the arrival of the students, nervous and ready to challenge the monsters of the trials.

"Wow, I knew I was gonna do the class, Death."

"Studying is important. Don't go to sleep today. Good luck, Leki."

About ready for my showdown, the only students who showed up were Leki and Ursula.

Well, you don't have a parent who wants a suspicious demon-faced priest who shows up all of a sudden to take classes just for kids...

"Well, let's start the class."

With a bit of a low tension, I was the first teacher in my life.

By the way, Leki was just starting to add up to two quets, and went to bed. Good luck with that.

We rang the bell announcing noon, then we had lunch, and in the afternoon we decided to go outside, not caged in church.

As a priest's job, it seems that at last the same happened to Priest Nicolai, but things like biblical research, light magic, and healing magic workouts will be typical, but to me they are both completely unbridled substitutes. Like Nell, if I could use healing magic because I don't have to, or even lower levels, I could have acted as a doctor, but unfortunately, I only have what seems to be healing magic 'physical complement' to heal myself.

The treatment of the sick, the injured is nothing more than leaving everything to the doctors in the village. Incidentally, the doctor is the second oldest grandmother in the village. While I'm here, I'm just praying that I won't be the wingman for her funeral.

The class ends in the morning, and in the afternoon it's not like I'm supposed to do the work of a priest. As far as I'm concerned, I'm going to go outside and find out about the village first. In short, it is a greeting.

Face to face over and over again, you'll get to know each other naturally, and if you can chat, you can gather some information from it. If we get along, maybe they'll tell us something from the other side.

Plus, if you have any problems or every request, let's do that, too. I mean, like I was working as a new adventurer in the village of Iles. I repaired the fence, carried heavy baggage, and did a lot of chores back then.

Again, I think that's what made me acceptable as a member of the village of Iles.

However, what I'm going to do is not good intentions at all because of the fact that this time I'm only going to lurk so that the Crusaders won't find me instead of gaining genuine trust.

"- I expected it, but after all, the harvest was bad."

Now, after about an hour of groping around the small village and actively challenging my voice to the villagers, I sat Saliel next to me and crushed her like she was tired looking at the extraordinary cemetery outside the village.

"I don't care what you think, you've been avoided."

We barely had a conversation. That was never enough of my communication skills, nothing else if I didn't feel like it over there.

"Reasonable reaction at the moment"

Sariel also pushes my heartbeat.

Even for me, I suddenly thought it would be a bad conversation to ask questions about any root digging leaf digging, and I just kept hearing a few unusual things. For example, what crops are being made in villages, how often pedestrians come, what work they do during the winter, etc.

The answers obtained, by the way, are as follows:

that crops are staple foods and mainly wheat used to pay taxes, while others inherit as is what was done in the village of Iles. Beans like soybeans that were in armored bear soup this morning are one of them.

My scorched earth operation was an incomplete one that burned only conspicuous buildings, so the fields remain available. Given the difficulty of opening up anew, there was no way I would not have used this.

Pedestrians once a month. He said, however, that if the colonies of Daedalus were to develop, there would be more.

Forestry was the main focus of winter work. There is a huge fairy forest (Fairy Garden) with big, fine trees nearby. In Daedalus, as you can see, snow builds up like Hokkaido, so it's also possible to let the horses pull the sled. The men of the village are still in the woods early this morning and are on the verge of logging.

For the rest, it will be the same in every rural area, but things like weaving will be the main job of women. If you ask me in more detail, I think I have an inside job where I can sell something else.

Livestock rearing, by the way, takes place all year round.

Norfolk farming, an efficient farming method comparable to quadricyclism, has been established on the Pandora continent, and the practice of strangling livestock just to cross the winter has been osarable for hundreds of years. That's what happened when the village of Iles was blessed with food for the countryside.

But apparently even Sinclair has the same establishment of such advanced agricultural laws. The fact that there is a population capable of establishing a crusade with enormous force proves, namely, that that much food supply is secured.

Most importantly, the presence of surprisingly short-lived and massively fruitful crops in this magical otherworld is one of the major reasons for easy access to food. Even if it looks exactly the same wheat, its yield is not comparable to that of the Earth.

Plants also boast magical breeding power so that no matter how many adventurers hunt monsters, they cannot be driven to extinction.

Even in such a small pioneering village, it seems an arithmetic that if we survive even the first year, when we have just settled in and have no harvest for now, we can handle the rest. Having experienced spring and summer in the village of Iles, I can't tell you enough that the prediction is for skincare, because I know that this Daedalus climate terrain is rich enough to be able to farm without any problems.

Anyway, what I found out in this greeting was still the degree to which I was clear that this pioneering village was a rural de country with no weird philosophy whatsoever.

But that won't help either. Important information such as Crusader movements could not have been purchased to help you return to Sparta now.

"Have you noticed anything?

"More than half of the villagers were second-degree divine people. As a colonial pioneering village, it's not uncommon."

"Second class gods?

"The people of the country conquered by the Sinclair Republic are classified as such"

I heard from Fiona before that the Sinclair Republic is a huge religious state that dominates the western half of the Ark continent.

But of course, you can't even have such a big territory from the start. Sinclair's happening is Elision, the holy capital and sanctuary. From there, it took thousands of years to expand the territory and then expand the Crusadist sphere of power to this day.

How many nations were swallowed up in the process?

"Areas conquered roughly more than a hundred years ago have been purified and indoctrinated, and no difference is found from normal republican territory. Currently 80% of the population similar to the Second Divine People is made up of former nationals of Barbados, Everam, Dragnov and three countries"

They are all unfamiliar country names. Not pinned at all.

"The Barbados have golden hair and red eyes. The Everarms have silver hair, blue eyes and brown skin. It's characteristic."

The continuation of Saliel's explanation that he did not see the Dragnovs in this village, but that he was placed around a village on the eastern coastline of Daedalus territory, which I remember seeing in the dossier of the Military Command, was almost out of ear.

"Hey, so Leki and Ursula..."

"Barbados and Everarms."

"... that's also why I couldn't find a pickup"

"Likely. There are many places in the Orphanages of the Cross that refuse to accept the Second Divine People"

It was so depressing that I regretted not asking.

"Often, there won't be a revolt."

"The Republic's assimilation policy has been sophisticated and very strong over a long history. But we cannot prevent a complete rebellion. What to do in that case..."

"Oh, speaking of which, it was your job"

That said, the conversation was struck. No more friendly chatting atmosphere. In the first place, that's not even the time for that to happen.

I realized once again that Saliel was an apostle. It's only been three days, but I may have been trying to forgive you for staying by my side the whole time.

That's why it's a painful place to be in a situation where you can't keep your distance. What am I supposed to do, the question begins to roam grandiose in my brain again.

I had a quiet time in the middle of a bright white snowy field with a blurry view of the cross's tombstone standing in my pocket. The feeling that the sound of life heard from the village echoes from somewhat distant places.

Vain. The world I painted with lies, after all, felt that way.

"Back to church?"

As I say, I wake up without even hearing Saliel's reply.

Bearing him, too, is something I'm used to early on. The backstring of the child, what a convenient item for me now, Sariel is the same with the rucksack.

So he turned his heel and began to walk, just then.

"Hey, Priest Sama, you were here."

A man appeared standing on his way with a dignified arm around him.

A perfect all-back blonde with a big battle axe carrying on her fur hunter's coat.

"Hello, Mr. Ryan. What can I do for you?

With my best grin on my glassy face, I meet the man who ate me yesterday with an amazing sword screen.

Am I just returning from logging operations? Behind him were fellow vigilantes we saw yesterday, and other still unrecognizable men lined up with Zorozolo.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, who

I didn't have a very good feeling about inviting complaints like the Yankees.

"Fine."

But you can't even say no.

No matter what you think, it doesn't matter if it's the exact same atmosphere you had when you got tangled up by Nell's SS at the seminary.

"Heh, that's quick and helpful. Follow me."

I decided to follow Ryan with a furious grin.
