Kuro no Maou
Episode 538: Twenty-first Defensive Tower
Pandora Continent boasts the most difficult dungeon, The Realm of Divine Extinction Avalon. It is thought to remain the same as the huge city at the heart of the world created by the far ancient empire, Demon King Mia Ellord -.
I can't be sure, because none of us have set foot in the depths of this dungeon. The overall view of the ancient capital, Avalon, is roughly captured by ancient maps obtained from residential areas and the relatively less dangerous areas of the city's outer periphery.
According to the map, the very construction of the city is also contemporary, with a royal castle in the centre and a concentric sprawl in the vicinity of the aristocratic city, from which the general public also lives. In light of this, it is only downtown that exploration is currently underway. Historically, the adventurers who have gone deepest have even reached the walls separating the general and aristocratic streets. Protecting its walls, it was attacked by powerful guards who treated ancient magic as it was, forcing it to retreat.
Now, here's a bunch of unruly adventurers challenging to the strongest and worst untouched dungeons.
"Beyond this door, Princess, there is undoubtedly a Kingsguard (Royal Guard) waiting for you first"
At the head of the party is a fine knight wrapped in shining holy silver (Mithril) armor. More streamlined than heavy, lightweight armor that does not sacrifice maneuverability, with a circle of helmet replacement. There are no shields or spears in that hand, and the only weapon you wear is a single sabel that you raise on your hips.
A knight at first glance, but if you observe the gear, the swordsman - no, a sharper one, you can determine that the true class of this person is a magical swordsman from the way he only has a sabel that emits signs that he should be called a demon sword.
"Right, Celis. I can feel different signs coming through this thick door."
The princess, who answers the query of Sellis, rather than the word of confirmation, containing a slight tension, is none other. Nell Julius Ellord, the first princess of Avalon, who succeeded the Ellord Empire.
Nell looked dazzling and sacred in witch clothing with white and red two-tone colors, just as he made a class change from "The Healer (Priest)," an official class that is also fully enrolled in the Alliance, to the same "War Witch" as Belclosen. A white caged hand (gauntlet), which is similar to a short and intense period of study, but is not very similar to the princess of Reishi on both her arms, imitating the arms of a dragon, was fitted with decidedly different equipment.
Its white dragon hand touches a steel gate that is tightly closed so that it can be sucked in.
"... Princess, let's turn back here"
As full as it is, Sellis proceeds to Nell, who still naturally tries to open the door.
"Oh, why?
Seriously, I don't know why, I round my eyes to the wind, and before Nell tilting his little neck, Celis saps away from his gaze just because he sees something horrible.
"The boss here is dangerous. There could be more dead people on the boulder."
"Adventure will always be next to death"
"Only then will adventurers prioritize safety."
"Ugh, you did. Yeah, sure, only two of us at the party would be able to deal with a Kingsguard (Royal Class) knight, me and Sellis."
When Nell looks back at Chirali, there's the faces of the boys and girls who have become somewhat familiar over the past month.
Yes, they are selected students proudly selected by this term's Imperial School, formed to accompany Nell in his quest for the "Divine Extinction Realm Avalon". The number of people is six, including Sellis. Of course, everyone is a flourishing knight selection contestant.
All I'm here for are powerful people who admit to everything else. They are young aces who are instant fighters even if they are assigned to the Knights there now.
But now their expressions were blue, and even the male students in the warrior class, proud of their strength, were leaking bitter exhalations in such a way that their breath was constant.
"Instead, you should praise me for following you this far so often."
Yes, this is not the tabular stage of a school where the brilliant talents admire and footlight, but the middle of a dungeon lurking with horrible monsters that no one will ever see. That, too, is Pandora's highest degree of difficulty in the realm of divine annihilation.
To the extent that there is no need for a light fire (torch), a huge corridor of creepy blue thin bright lights. High ceilings that are likely to be about four stories tall in a passageway comparable to Avalon's main street. Now, everywhere on the walls and so forth, there are even decorations and patterns inspired by ancient religions or myths.
Nell and the others are standing in such a place, where the artistic finish adds to the creeps.
According to the map, this is the underground passage of the walls surrounding downtown. The steel gate in front of the eye has been found to be a door leading to the facility known as the Twenty-first Defensive Tower.
"Yeah, in our power, this is the limit"
Not so much remorse seeps into Celis' words, not least because they remind us of our own weakness that we still have to turn back in places where we don't even plug into the middle of the dungeon. Because no matter what anyone thinks, it's a reasonable limit.
Rank Five Adventurers, even the legendary parties, among them especially heroic, could only reach the walls of the aristocratic city. Still a laudable feat for the students themselves who reached the downtown walls.
Step from here to downtown, and even the Rank 4 Adventurer Party will jump to a level of danger that is no stranger to annihilation in a flash.
Nobody regrets leaving here. No one is ashamed of running away here. It was an occasion to withdraw, without even having to think about it.
"Well, just me and Sellis are going in, so you guys just stay here for a little while, please"
But Nell doesn't retreat.
"Become, won't be, princess!?
Seris and the other students are donglers.
"It's okay, because I'll go home when I defeat the boss. Besides, Celis, you want to show your fiancée the good part, right?
Hmm, and Nell sees a line of students standing behind Celis with a little devilish grin. Among them is a junior aristocratic child with plain glasses, titled, although not yet publicly known, No stranger in the school, fiancée of that Celis Ann Arklite.
Even as Nell, I know it's a relationship he and she don't hate each other. Knowing how wonderful love is, Nell warmly congratulates those two...... Sellis must be eager to say that now would not be such an interesting and weird situation to bring up a love story.
"No, that's not what I meant!
"Eh."
Nell gently pushed the door, along with a truly adorable hanging voice, listening as refreshingly as a breeze to Celis' desperate words of persuasion.
The steel door, which is likely to be three times its own height, opens with a gentle push of Nell. It's as if the heavy gate automatically opens as long as you're willing to go inside - no, the gate was smashed through a tremendous impact after an unusual rapid acceleration, as if the giant had kicked it at its disposal.
Gunn! and a shitty metal noise as if he had struck the bell with a striking martial arts technique, and the gate opens dignified in both openings.
And no one is surprised because Celis and his members have seen so much of Nell's power (...) on the road so far that they don't like it.
Okay, let's go.
Leaving all that behind, Nell stepped inside a defensive tower awaited by a dreaded ancient knight as he rocked a riddled, long-haired ponytail and white wings.
"Here you go, princess..."
A silver knight who dropped his shoulder like disappointed and tired chased a brave princess.
"Phew... I've come this far, and I haven't had much to gain"
Too bad, and Nell is discouraged from the bottom of his heart.
He said he had defeated a boss who was pretty much at the top of the monsters he had fought so far, but he couldn't get what he deserved, either from the boss body or from this room, as a gift to send to Chrono.
There's not much sense in Nell right now that he's attacking the dungeon. However, it is like shopping for luxury branded stores in the heart of the city in search of what you are looking for.
The thing I want is a nice dish for my dear him to be happy with. Not for my training, not for wealth or honor, just for one man. Have any adventurers ever challenged this dungeon with such floating feelings?
"Princess, you're safe"
Soon after defeating the boss, the Kingsguard Knight, a voice is heard on Nell's back as he begins to pinpoint the interior. Regardless, the Lord of Voices is Student Chairman Celis, who will be a reliable partner in this setting. I don't see any injuries such as this, although it is slightly dirty.
They stood around well and tried to beat up the boss brilliantly.
"Yeah, with Celis, even so many enemies can afford to fight. I don't have a scratch."
"No, for one thing, with the help of the princess."
Even if you're not as humble as Celis, if you look at the corpse of a Kingsguard knight rolling at the feet of this princess, those words will come out.
This time, waiting in this twenty-first defensive tower was the hardest heavy knight (Armor Knight) type to defeat, among the Kingsguard knights where several variations existed.
Back length is approximately three and a half meters. It is so huge that it is not human, but even wild minotaurs inside. Thus, it is not possible to discern what race the contents of the heavy pitch-black all-body armor (full plate armor) were now undead and only bone remained.
If you are intermediate in magic, it is thick enough to hit directly but not scratch a single piece, heavy, hard dark matter (dark matter) alloy and think black armor is a threat by itself, but the truly horrible piece of equipment this heavy knight has is a huge big shield (tower shield) as if it had come stripping away some of the walls.
Armor so thick that it even doubled or tripled the plate of armor, in addition to the original robust defense of dark matter (dark matter), there was an ancient addition (enchant) that reflected magic on the surface of the shield. With this magic bouncing shield, no cheap operation can be established, if you shoot a magic powerful enough to crush the armor purely.
To the defense of the iron wall, a heavy knight with an even more invincible magical reflective shield. All you have to do is slap a big axe that looks like it could be broken by house, with a power commensurate with its gigantic body, and most adventurers are unlikely to return.
But now the heavy knight, who falls in depression as if he were lying in front of Nell, sees and is crippled. As we ate by peeling the shell of the boiled crab, the prized whole body armor crumbles and peels off, revealing a huge man-shaped skeleton protected on the inside. The left arm with the invincible shield was chopped off from around the elbow and rolled into the corner of the room. The large shield held by the left arm, which was a thousand cuts apart, was broken into two straight pieces to see what impact had been applied.
All traces of destruction, as if the giants had unilaterally killed the smaller ones, are at Nell's disposal. The attack by Sellis is fast, sharp, but as an adventurer it still remains a common sense power, cutting through brittle areas such as the joints of the Heavy Knight.
Can you tell Nell that if he shows off the sight of this overwhelming victory, and any shame on him, he's in his own hands?
"Oh, my God, I haven't. Not enough strength at all... you need more training"
Celis cannot forbid the battle to the words of Nell, who answers humbly with a soft smile, who does not seem to have crushed the heavy knight of Avalon. This man had not given his full strength, even in the current battle. Now, I still want to go up there, so it's not something I enjoyed.
In the first place, is this man really Nell Julius Ellord?
For a month or so after I started attacking this godforsaken realm of Avalon, I had to ask again the question I thought many times.
"Um, but it's really nothing"
Princess Nell, who is telepathically capable but not dewy, such as Sellis' war-torn insides, continues to look around every corner of the room to see if she can still give up. No matter how troubled you roar, the blowout space on the ground floor of the dim defensive tower doesn't have any sparkling gems, nor does an old chest come down and gush.
"Hey, Celis, this door..."
"Become, don't, princess! The door leads to the downtown side!
Wrong, if you go outside and the door closes, you lose your way home. From here on out, the exploration of the downtown side through the walls is less informative anyway because of the further jump in danger. The tactical information on the divine extermination realm brought home at the risk of life by historical high ranking parties is actually stored at the Avalon Adventurers Guild headquarters as a stack for hundreds of years, but still about 30% of downtown mapping. Even the street can't figure out how it connects to Locke. Well, it's a completely unknown realm when it gets to the underground passageway where there are back alleys, hidden passageways, old waterways and mysterious giant tunnels.
No matter how much unusual power Nell wears, in front of this dungeon called Avalon, the realm of divine annihilation, the intrigue is only one adventurer.
"It's okay, I just want to see what's going on out there"
But Nell, who did not convey any shards, such as Sellis' sense of crisis, softly put his hands on the double-open door with a slight grin.
"Princess! Listening to the cry," Nell peeks at his face slightly through the gap between the open doors.
"This is the ancient imperial capital, Avalon..."
The only routes that have come by so far are the huge walls and the ruined outer periphery, where the state of the city has not been revealed. But finally stepping beyond the walls into the inner streets of the city, Nell will see the streets of the first ruined imperial capital here.
The first thing that strikes me is a number of large buildings that stand far apart. Tall towers all the way to heaven, no, if you look closely, elongated rectangles with horns, and you could see that it was as turbulent as many woods.
Although I can't see how tall that huge building is because there are no other buildings as tall as Arr et al., it was understandable from a sense of distance that it was the heart of the city that hit the aristocratic district.
Above such ancient towers there are dark clouds that emit vibrant bright red lightning. The sky, which looks like a thick slice of cloud, is bright red as blood.
It is said that this creepy red sky is the great junction of antiquity that makes every blessing disappear.
It is a disastrous, desperate street as if it embodies the end of the world, but it was still common sense, at least in terms of where it spreads right out of the defensive tower and right in front of you. Just as we saw it in an extremely well-preserved ruin, designated as a national heritage, we can see ancient style houses lined up. However, part of the military establishment as there was a defensive tower for this place, which meant that it was robust brick construction and a boneless square building stood out.
"You don't seem to have any enemies."
I don't feel any signs. Nor was it likely that an ambush soldier would be placed, given that not a single arrow would fly through the door to Nell, who would peek through his face with dignity.
Unexpectedly, driven by a desire to explore just a little nearby, he takes a step forward, but Nell's feet stopped moving like ice.
"Oh, that..."
I saw the red light. Chick-chicky and instant, bright red, poisonous glow.
I don't have to wonder, Nell's eyes capture a definite figure there.
"... Lily,?
Glowing pairs of feathers. Long flowing platinum blonde hair. One piece dress in pitch black. Luxurious girl's body. Either way, that beautiful and abominable, fairy-girl reminiscent silhouette.
But I can't be sure it's her.
Very similar. But decisively different points can also be seen in its shadow.
Lily's feathers glow in a light, clear rainbow color. But the feathers that the shadow grows are red. It emits a bright red light, like blood.
No, it's different from shape to shape in the first place. Lily's feathers were shaped like elongated leaves, just like any other fairy, but this one is shaped like a butterfly. Hilarious, and whenever the feathers shake quietly, the crimson phosphorescence flashes around as the scaly powder scatters.
Just one of those red grains of light, how much magic density there is. Nell felt a clear sign of it, even from this distance, which was slightly over a hundred meters away.
"-!?
That's when my eyes met. As if, when I first saw her in the ancient castle of Ischia.
It's exactly the same as that time when you hugged Chrono, but you shot yourself in sight standing on the walls.
That demonic smiling face is indisputable, Lily - but no. Her eyes turned toward Nell, green with her right eye and black odd eyes with her left eye. The color of the right eye has a jade glow, as does Lily, who remembers, but a peek into its abyss was as if the black eyes had been implanted with Chrono's eyes intact.
Lily and her face and figure are two melons. But feathers and eyes do differ. You should make a determination with someone else.
"Seris! I'll be back now!
If you notice, the shadow, very similar to Lily's, went into the shadow of a distant building and became invisible. In fact, I saw her just a few moments across the street. Very, I couldn't afford to observe closely if it was the same person.
"Princess, what is it? No way, there's a dangerous monster right there..."
"Fine, as soon as possible, we're getting out of this dungeon!
Celis blacks and whites his eyes with nervousness as to what the hell danger is lurking in Nell ordering an immediate retreat in a hurry, turning from a spare grin. But its calmly sedentary character began acting rationally and then accurately without disturbance.
Immediately the members who were waiting outside the door were also notified of the retreat and promptly moved to return. At last, Nell can't stop the cold sweat gushing out of his face as he creates a ho soothing atmosphere when he can return from this nightmarish dungeon.
"No, I'm not Mr. Lily..."
Must be someone else.
So desperately trying to assume, because the perceptible Nell feels intuitive with no help.
If that lily really made such a different change, how much power did she get? Nell did feel signs of a monster on his skin that he would not normally, perhaps, have to throw away something important as a person.
"Oh Chrono-kun..."
Please, I want you to be safe. Nothing, I want to go home from Galahad and live my student life in peaceful Sparda again, with him.
To Nell now, I could only pray so. This, extinguishing the power of God, in the realm of God's annihilation.
