Kuro no Senki (LN)
Episode 7: Military Regulations, Revised Edition
In January of the Empire Calendar 431, an army of cavalry thousand, infantry seven thousand four hundred, archers two thousand nine hundred, and heavy soldiers summoned to the direct jurisdiction of the Empire of Nouj began their invasion of the Kingdom of Holy Argo with Alfort, the common son of Ramal V.
The "invasion plan", drawn up by the Military Bureau and the Kingsguard Knights, is that after passing through the eastern edge of the coma forest and reaching the East-West streets connecting the Kingdom of Holy Argo with the Free City State Group, the Second Kingsguard Knights and a battalion, as a separate task force, seal off the streets to prevent interdiction, and the First, Twelfth Kingsguard Knights and seven battalions, as the main unit, attack the city of Malcab.
The number of soldiers in the separate squad will be one hundred and fifty cavalry, one thousand and three hundred infantry, six hundred archers, and the main squad will be eight hundred and fifty cavalry, six thousand infantry, two thousand and three hundred archers, and two hundred heavy soldiers.
Most of all, some nobles take servants and prepare their own food, so the actual number is a little higher.
The Imperial Army followed the 'invasion plan' and left the frontline base at the same time as the night whitened, reaching the eastern edge of the coma forest after noon that day.
The coma forest is a vast native forest with several alpine mountains, but it doesn't have any human hands in it.
There are traces of carriages passing even in the Marquis Erakis territory with the thickest forest layers, allowing the invasion of the Kingdom of Holy Argo.
The eastern end of the coma forest is the thinnest part of the forest layer, for which there is a history that has been used many times as an invasion route for the Kingdom of Holy Argo.
The place the Imperial Army chose as the invasion route was low in grass and wide enough for a luggage car to pass through...,
"Master Chrono, the wheels are hooked!
The wheels of the luggage truck hooked onto the roots of the trees and Horus screamed pitifully.
Horus tried to get over the roots of the tree on his own, but the luggage car just wobbled and couldn't get over the roots of the tree.
I guess the planner of the operation didn't even think about whether the invasion route was suitable for carrying heavy, Krono was annoyed.
If that's what you were thinking, it's because the wheels of the luggage truck can't be hooked to the roots of the trees over and over again or fit into the crevices of the ground.
"Guards, please!
"Heh."
'Don't go!' (Bubba ~!
When Minotaur, dressed in crude leather armor, pushed his luggage from behind to match Horus's hanging voice, the luggage car safely overcame the roots of the tree.
"The escorts are on the back of their cars until they get through the woods! The troops of Deneb, Aridead and Leo are on perimeter alert!
"" Ha-ha!
"Ha" (Ugh!
In a casual tone, Deneb and Aridead gave precise instructions to his men, distancing them from the luggage and alerting them to their surroundings.
He had also decided in his autograph that Leo, in a military manly tone, moved his men with only eyes and gestures.
"Admiral, it's easier than I thought. If I couldn't get a hand from another battalion, I'd be stuck. '
When Chrono finished giving the instructions, the deputy muttered as he regained charge of Paul Axe.
Initially, Krono assigned Archer 10 and Infantry 5 as escorts against 10 luggage vehicles, but anxiously borrowed only 200 large sub-men from other battalions.
'Nevertheless... how did you pull it out of the other troops?' (Bubba Bubba?
"I borrowed one gold coin a head"
There was no need to hide it either, so Chrono revealed Tane lightly.
"... Admiral, did you bring so much money? '(Buba ~?)
"Just in case."
Once the water was secured, I would give the wine and barley (beer) priority to you, and Krono secretly decided to look at the subpeople who pulled it out.
Isn't the Admiral riding a horse? '(also ~?)
"I'm not good at riding horses."
It's not that I don't have a horse, it's not that I can't ride it, Chrono added with an excuse.
The cavalry is the hua of the battlefield, and the captain, with a few exceptions, is dressed in sheet metal armor (plate mails) and riding horses.
The few exceptions to this are Count Ernato and his deputy, Chrono and his deputy, Mr. Minot.
"When I graduate from military school, I usually get a jazz."
Why didn't you get the Admiral? '(Bubba?
"Which do you think was the cause of what the instructor hated and the fact that he had the lowest overall grades in seating and practical skills, and that he beat Tilia in the exercise?
"If that's all you got, you won't get a jazz."
"I think so too."
I'm not in a position to complain because my graduation has fallen so brilliantly that I'm in jeopardy, but it's also true that I'm not ambitious enough to break it off.
"There's no law that you shouldn't ride a horse without a jazz, but it's pitiful that you can't force it to fall, and if you accidentally die in response to a single hit, you can't even see it."
"If it's enough to go down, it might as well be painted on the mud." (Bubba Bubba)
As the deputy pointed out, Chrono's boots and trousers are dirty with mud.
Well, I don't think my men care enough because they're similar.
"If you're dressed like that, you can't see nobles, so it's not easy for enemy soldiers to overlook you."
"I hope so."
Krono laughed bitterly at the joke of his deputy.
Chrono wears the same chest armor and clasp made in Goldie's workshop as his men.
The weapon is filled with a long sword and a dagger one wave at a time, thirty medicines and a solid bread in the pouch of the hips, and only twenty candy balls.
I thought I wouldn't get morale about candy balls, but unexpectedly, my men were thrilled.
Kids! And I almost put in a penetration, but based on the fact that the price of sugar is one gold coin at a kilo and the salaries of soldiers are two gold coins in a month, the amount I'm a little hesitant to buy.
I'm going to go ahead and grow beet and make sugar production the main industry in the Marquis, but it's going to take a long time for me to be able to buy candy balls with my children's pennies, like the world over there.
Let's be careful not to accidentally die, Krono reached for the long sword pattern.
In the end, it was that evening that I went through the coma forest. I was lucky enough to find a pond right through the woods, but from there on ahead... it took some time to position the camp position.
The position of the camp position was determined in the form of Count Ernato entering arbitration where he was likely to develop from discussion to beatification, and the Kingsguard guard guarding the three sides of Alfort's tent, and the eight captains guarding the perimeter.
Chrono, who was not allowed to participate in the discussion from start to finish, decided to set up a camp position in the right place.
Most of all, what Chrono did was to set up a camp position for his deputy and throw a heavy guard round the three of Deneb, Aridead and Leo.
Did you even train from time to time, Chrono's men were handy.
Less than an hour later, the tent and tent are assembled, so much so that Chrono begins to help the general sooner than he gives instructions.
"... what's for dinner today?
"I'd like you to wait a little longer for your meal."
Sitting on a rock and waiting for the cooking to finish, Leonhardt spoke to me.
"Can I help you?
"The scouts found the elf colony."
Yeah, and Chrono nodded.
"I'm going to make contact to get information about the water field, but I'm not sure I can have a friendly relationship with the subpeople like Lord Chrono."
"Roger. I'll be away for a little while, so Mr. Minot's leaving a message! Deneb, Aridead, Lizad say hello to my escort!
It's easy to understand! '(Bubba -!
"I was looking forward to dinner!
"The servants are absurd!
……
While complaining, Deneb and Aridead move quickly, and Lisado moves so fast that you look dull and heavy.
"Because there was an elf settlement ahead"
"" No way, raid?
"I need you to give me some information."
Chrono answered powerlessly, as Deneb and Aridead shook their bodies to fright.
"Soldiers are looting and attacking women."
"Bleeding my eyes, calling me all sorts of things."
"... what about buying disgust from those who might become subjects of the Empire"
"" Whoa!
……
"Hmm, Lord Chrono is looking ahead."
I said with enough nuance that fewer enemies were better, Deneb and Aridead, Lizad slapped his hand as impressed, and Leonhardt shrugged as impressed as well.
Lord Chrono, do me a favor.
"I'll try."
Chrono saluted Leonhardt, and Deneb, Aridead and Lizad imitated it as well.
Dropped off by Leonhardt, Krono, who left the camp position, regretted not having provided lighting within enough time.
"... I should have provided the lighting"
"If you do anything, the enemy might find you."
"Well, I'm not sure the three of us can protect Master Chrono."
Hands were drawn to Deneb and Aridead, and Chrono was walking down the night lane with his flabby hips.
If the moon is out, Krono's night is not good enough to rely on the starlight to walk down the road anyway.
"... the subpeople are amazing"
Even elves and dwarves have vision, hearing far exceeding that of humans.
"Humans are awesome... or they're scarier"
"It seems like I can't walk until I get my hands on it."
"It's like being scared when you're a group?
"To tell the truth, we're from around here."
Chrono couldn't say anything, but I could imagine why they said they were afraid of humans and why they were biased against soldiers.
"Trained elves like us are strong now, but elves are weak. I thought I could only protect my life if I stood by it."
"Mi-na, they'll kill you or sell you out... we arrived in the Imperial City doing dirty things and joined the army"
Deneb and Aridead squeezed Chrono's hand hard.
"Master Krono comes from a world where there's a guy named 'Sekaijin Kensengen', right?
"You know, I hope... I think we're here"
Deneb and Aridead stopped walking and Chrono was relieved that they had reached the settlement before the two spoke out of dialogue.
Can I expect Master Krono to do 'Sekaijinkensengen'? If asked, Chrono would not have been able to answer instantly.
I can promise if we take various measures to improve the status of the subpeople.
I have done that before and I intend to continue to do so.
I can also promise to let the present system of the Marquis of Elakis be passed down to the generations of my sons and grandchildren.
However, Chrono was not prepared to do 'Sekaijinkensengen' himself.
That was tantamount to denying the national system of the Kepheus Empire, and it had no power to just fight the enemies it created.
No, I'm just scared. I'm afraid that I'm going to die, and that my men are going to die for the ideals I list.
"Master Chrono, we're here."
"Uh-oh, there's no light."
Hands off Deneb and Aridead, Chrono narrowed his eyes.
settlement and Leonhardt said, but only ten leaned digging huts stand.
Chrono took a gold ring engraved with intricate characters from the porch... a magic item granted the magic of an interpreter... and filled it in his middle finger.
"Dear Chrono, the Kingdom of Holy Argo speaks the language."
"Tell me first."
Chrono took the initiative to step into the settlement,
"Eh, I'm disturbing you! My name is Chrono and I am captain of the Kepheus Imperial Army, but I came because I wanted to talk to a representative of this settlement! I'm not going to do you any harm!
Speaking out loud, several elves dug up and put their faces out of the cabin.
But the moment Chrono and I meet each other, he hides quickly.
"Master Chrono, shouldn't we talk a little more aggressively?
"You don't scare me. My name is Chrono and I am captain of the Kepheus Imperial Army, but I came because I wanted to talk to a representative of this settlement! I'm not going to do you any harm!
The representative of the settlement came out of the cabin when the voice of Chrono was plundered.
The representative of the settlement was a ship eyed elf...... a man about twenty years old.
The body wrapped in worn clothes is thin to the point of malnutrition, with ancient wounds on the stripped arms, traces of burns on the chest and broken left ear from half.
While in such a state, the light that dwells in the left eye is strong.
No, if this man is experiencing the likes of Deneb and Aridead, he would naturally turn his gaze of hatred to Chrono, a military man.
"... What's an Imperial soldier for?
"You're going to march near here. Of course, I'm not going to harm you, and I'm not going to let you order my men to harm you. I'm going to make other soldiers thorough... but there are people who make fools of themselves at all times, so I'd like you to stay hidden."
Gilli and the man ate and tied their teeth and leaned in regret.
"Okay. There's no way we can fight a soldier."
"The other is information to the city of Malcab. You want me to tell you where there's a water field?
"... The Kingdom of Holy Argo has many wetlands. I don't even want to know how many soldiers there are, but there shouldn't just be trouble with the water"
Chrono nodded, wondering if the Military Bureau's investigation was wrong.
There is no denying the possibility that the man's words are lies, but it shouldn't take much effort to transport water from the pond that was near the camp position.
"Thanks"
"If you understand, just disappear."
"Well, thank you very much."
When Chrono threw the gold ring, the man grabbed it with one hand.
"What are you going to do?
"Thank you, thank you. It's not that it's the right origin, but that's a gold ring granted the magic of an interpreter... I don't know the market, but I think it'll be the amount there. You can redeem it to fund it over the winter, or you can use it to fund your escape from the divine kingdom of Argo. If you want to escape from the holy kingdom of Argo, if you come to the Marquis of Elakis, I will do all kinds of good."
The man stared alternately at the gold ring and the chrono.
"... are you going to be horrible as a slave?
"I'm going to be welcoming you as a Marquis of Elakis."
Saying what he wanted to say, Krono turned his back on the man.
Ask Deneb and Aridead to pull their hand just like they did when they came.
"Is that guy coming to Marquis Elakis territory?
"I guess it'll be hard soon."
On his way home, he was asked that way, and Chrono uttered his honest thoughts.
"But if you're here, you're poor."
"The corner, the chance to escape is rolling."
"You don't seem to trust humans, and you can't be irresponsible as a representative of a settlement"
Deneb and Aridead can say that because they know the reality of the Marquis of Elakis territory, and if you try him, it must be a generation of big hits.
Returning to the camp, Leonhardt welcomed me.
Apparently, he waited for me without even taking a meal.
When Chrono saluted, Leonhardt returned with a refreshing grin.
"The information on the waterfront was consistent with the military, which means there's a lot of wetlands."
"Well, did you have a friendly relationship?
"At least I didn't hostile. But I've been advising you because there's no denying the possibility of this one doing stupid mane."
Hmm, Leonhardt pointed his hand at his chin as he contemplated.
"Because useless strife is not where I want it either. Be well known to act shamelessly as an imperial army."
"Yeah, nice to meet you"
Breaking up with Leonhardt and returning to his camp position, Krono broke up with Deneb and Aridead and Lizad and went into his tent.
Take off your armor and lay down on a bed with a combined crate.
"... I need to give it to you with wine and barley (beer)"
What we can do today should be done within today, Krono went outside.
"Minotaur!
"Admiral, what's wrong?
Apparently the deputy was looking around and walked over to Chrono with several beastmen.
"I'm going to thank the soldier who helped me during the day."
"Then I made it easy on you. Wine and barley wine (beer), and just a little dried meat '(bubble)
"Nice try, Mr. Minot."
"I just thought the Admiral would."
The deputy scratched his head in the light.
Hearing the number of liquor and dried meat offered as a thank you, Krono went back to the tent and lay in bed again.
"I brought you a meal."
Thank you, Admiral.
It was also a hassle to move to the desk, so Chrono sat in bed and received a wooden tray from the general.
What was on the tray was one large loaf of bread and bean soup, a few slices of dried meat... the same meal as my men.
"I thought I was the only captain who eats delicious meals."
"It's a hassle to make just my share, isn't it?
"Am I supposed to thank my well-informed husband for hiring me, shah?"
Chrono pours the bean soup into his stomach and flattens the bread.
"I'm proud of you... can't you"
"If Master Chrono is my age, I can do one of my pride. Ten years apart. You're going to treat me like a bad girl."
"Bad girl."
Chrono chewed on the dried meat, saying that some of them were cute.
Finishing his meal, Chrono fell asleep in bed.
Joseph joined the army to escape poverty as other soldiers did.
Because I grew up there in insecure areas, I was proud to say that my arm was quite something, and that I was quite an arm stander among the battalions I belonged to.
Joseph spent most of his salary buying booze, beatings, and whores just like the other soldiers did.
He was also angry that other soldiers were then driven out into war as they were, and he was counter-intuitiated to be ordered by the Kingsguard knights he had just met without a heads-up.
When I heard there was an elf settlement ahead of me, I first remembered the elf whore, then the bandit crusade.
Joseph left the camp, even though the battalion captain had ordered that no harm should be done to the elves.
When he found the elf kid in the woods, Joseph thanked God he didn't even believe in, grabbing the elf kid's root and slamming him on the tree.
"It's not dirty. You're not exposed."
I'm dealing with children.
Feeling frozen in his neck muscle, Joseph soon understood that the knife was being stuck in his neck muscle.
If you're a recruit with no real combat experience, you're leaking your piss, but Joseph was a war soldier.
In fact, I've only been through a bandit crusade twice, but Joseph believed I was the kind of person who could get through trouble.
"... that's right!
Joseph didn't miss a moment when the knife left and waved his fist as he turned around.
But Joseph's fist cut the sky, and the cold feeling passed through his nose tip all in return.
Hot, blood overflowing from the wound, Joseph held his face down and screamed.
"I'm not crying like a woman."
"Honestly, if it's only small there and your liver balls are small,"
Damn, how could you do this, and Joseph, crying and calling, stared at the two elves that looked exactly like the mirror showed them.
"Remember me, you elf!
"Homurai!
A bright deep red flame filled his vision and Joseph escaped as he drooled his piss.
Do you think the elves will be forgiven?
Joseph fled into the camp and cried to the captain.
The next morning, Chrono's sleep was broken by the screams of his deputy.
"Admiral! My God! '(Bubba Bubba!
"... what happened!
'Come and get me down anyway!' (Bubba!
As he reached the lieutenant of the Ray Sword Screen, Deneb and Aridead, tied behind his back, sat in the center of the camp... near the tent of Alfort.
"What happened?
"Things got a little worse"
When Chrono inquired, Leonhardt said with an uncomfortable eyebrow root.
"The elf there chopped up my men's faces."
……
When I saw the voice, about thirty captains stood with soldiers bandaged in their faces.
Unilateral, when Chrono hung his mouth open, the boy came out of the tent... and came out with his eyes busy moving like Alford was frightened.
I look like I'm in my mid-teens or younger.
Alfort seemed to work out his body better than Chrono did three years ago, but as far as behavior goes, his mental level would be about the same.
"Master Alford, please have a seat."
"Oh, thank you, Count Pisce"
Alfort sat shallow on the chair prepared by Count Pisce, overlooking Deneb and Aridead.
"Pi, Count Pisce?
"These elves were attacked by Joseph, who was looking around the camp, chopping his face off. We should deal with this through severe punishment."
As Alfort stared upward, Count Pisce replied as he stroked his thin Kaisel beard.
As if it had been decided from the beginning... no, it had been decided from the beginning.
Perhaps you're aiming to tighten up by punishing the violators.
I mean, this is a farce with muscles and ends ready.
If you know that, you have an eye for reversal.
Though it must be a bad bet of minutes.
"... oh, wait! Dear Alford!"
Klono rolled out to shelter Deneb and Aridead, pushing and killing his fears.
Poke your knees and look up at Alfort.
"These two, Deneb and Aridead, are my precious men."
"Well, what do you call an elf's favorite?"
Count Pisce told me to mock him, but Chrono thanked him for his words.
At least he tolerates Chrono's remarks.
"Ah, a subhuman."
"Sure, they're elves, but they're getting good citizenship. And yet it is an act of trampling the spirit of the Empire to punish them severely without even listening to them."
When Chrono rolled up, Alfort turned his gaze to Count Pisce to curl.
Count Pisce coughed uncomfortably with his gaze at Leonhardt and Count Alcor, the soldiers who had gathered at some point.
I can, Krono clenched his fist hard.
Count Pisce is...... not as personable as he was praised for, given his sticky behavior towards Faye, but seems to have a discernment to the extent of listening to others.
"Allow me to speak"
Deneb and Aridead looked at each other and hesitated to spin the words.
"... we just stopped him because he was trying to commit an elf child."
He said you shouldn't harm the elves.
Count Pisce glanced at Alfort and looked at him so that he could ask.
"Come on, don't be ridiculous!
The man with his face engraved raised a violent scream and Chrono choked his teeth.
Krono was just thinking that if he attacked with rationality, he could help Deneb and Aridead.
But the man with the face engraved wasn't sealed off.
And Alfort, who only has the same degree of spirit as Chrono three years ago, can give in to violence lightly.
"I was just looking around, and the elves chopped my face off! It can't be better for a subhuman to hurt a human being than a human slave! If you do that, you won't be able to keep order! Right!"
They agree with the man's call.
Blindfolded with blood running eyes, Alford stiffens only for a moment.
"... eh, punish the elves severely. Count Pisce!"
[]/(exp, adj-na) (1) (uk) (uk) (uk)
When Alfort ordered him to escape the pressure, Count Pisce pulled out his sword with a sledge.
For a moment, my head turned white.
Something, nothing, and Chrono opened his mouth or closed it like a fish launched into a hill.
"... are you willing to defy the orders of the Commander-in-Chief, Marquis Elakis?
"... Huh!
Bladed by Count Pisce, Chrono noticed himself standing there sheltering Deneb and Aridead.
"If you leave, don't ask."
My knees trembled when I was reluctant, and Chrono seemed to desiccate now.
Hey, why?
'Cause you're one of my men, right?
Shit, I don't want to die, I don't want to die!
"... me"
What am I?
What about me?
"... I love the Empire"
That? I thought Chrono.
Count Pisce, Leonhardt... maybe no one here could understand Chrono's sincerity.
Of course. Even Chrono doesn't understand the meaning of his words.
Chrono cut out how he loved the Empire and how he was deeply grateful to Ramal V.
That was so much praise that Count Pisce was distracted, it was such a lie that he wanted to brace his neck.
"... I love the Empire. So, so, with his right eye, he stopped the invasion of the Kingdom of Holy Argo at the expense of three hundred and fifty men."
Within lining up the lies 800, Chrono was illusory as if his words were true.
I was in complete panic, so much so that I could even do the separation of laughing while crying.
"No one in this could have contributed more for the Empire than I did, no! How about that guy over there! He lies, pushes sin against my patriotic men, and slams the next emperor, Lord Alfort! If you're saying this is my beloved empire... now kill me before you kill Deneb and Aridead!
Chrono took off his jacket and walked from himself to Count Pisce.
The cut pierces the tip and the blood flows.
Count Pisce looked around bewildered and drew his sword.
"Dude, that's not... Huh!
Silver light flashes and a sword pierces the throat of the man whose face is carved.
Count Pisce threw his sword.
Count Pisce pulled his sword out of the man who fell on his back and cramped, kneeling to Alfort.
"Dear Alford, I have destroyed the fool who slammed you."
"... Good luck"
As Count Pisce drooped his head, Alford had a convulsive grin.
Chrono slipped back into the tent with Deneb and Aridead.
"I thought you were going to kill me."
"" Uh, Master Chrono?
Staring, you thought you'd be beaten, Deneb and Aridead stretched their bodies.
Chrono held those two together.
Oh, he's alive.
Chrono exhaled in relief as they felt their body temperature.
"Um, Master Chrono... we're going to have to march."
"So, but for a little while,"
"What am I mistaken for?"
When Chrono poked lightly, they poked their buttocks.
"" Not really!
Chrono scratched Walrus and now exhaled.
"Don't you both be impotent."
"But I couldn't leave you alone."
"That's right. Report, contact and consult properly so that things don't happen like this one"
"" Ha ~ i ""
Deneb and Aridead replied with an extended response.
In fact, if I had received the report, I would have been able to talk to Leonhardt and hit him with my hand.
"But I understand the subhuman position and the danger of the legions in this case."
Alfort, the commander-in-chief, lacks the strength to lead the army.
In addition, a general soldier with low morale and norms.
If we don't tie him up with fear, the army of gatherings will disintegrate in no time.
"" Eh heh, Master Chrono ""
Deneb and Aridead laughed like children and rubbed against Chrono.
"We're going to march, aren't we?
"Hey, I'm just in the mood for sweetness."
"Yeah, well, I've never had a human shelter before."
Touching his pointy ears, Deneb and Aridead narrowed their eyes comfortably.
"'Cause we'll protect Master Chrono and raise him."
Deneb and Aridead whispered in Chrono's ear.
