Kuro no Senki (LN)
Episode 13: Funeral
A night dawned from the battle against the Imperial Army, and the pioneering village was busy with a large crowd.
The inhabitants of the pioneering village are not the only ones gathered on the south side of the village.
Residents of Sylvania, mercenaries of tribal coalitions, soldiers of the Imperial Army - some of them in heavy towns in Sylvania, including Elaine.
You read the air on the boulder, Elaine was wearing a mournful dress.
This dress looks plain but tailored.
Either the appeal to be on this spot as a person in the tribal coalition, or Schiff and Bear stood away from Elaine.
In addition there is Dr. Weissman who directs the Imperial Army, but it is Tilia that the gathered people are paying attention.
They get intrigued by the chatter as they gaze at Tilia and Elaine.
"Hehe, is that Princess Tilia?"
"Who's the guy in that corner weaving a worn cloak?
"Dear Sir! You'll be pulled for disrespect!
"Fool, 'cause it's true. I fought under Lord Tilia."
"Thank you very much."
"That black dress?
"They took the throne trying to do politics with an emphasis on civilians."
"Now you can brag your whole life."
"The black dress is like Elaine."
"The Imperial Army? Sure, I was scared, but it wasn't a big deal."
"It's Chrono-sama wearing that bollocks."
The hustle and noise are similar to the noise of the tide and rain.
"... it's not lame"
Chrono groaned bosossly and turned his gaze to Tilia.
Tilia is dressed in white military uniform.
White uniforms are quite good, but they fall short of Elaine's dress.
Still, I guess it's because of the invisibility.
Polarity, if a beauty wears it, even regular clothes look like branded goods.
It's likely to seem like that kind of fashion, even if it's boring.
When Chrono thought that there was no such benefit, Tiria slowly walked out.
"... I have something to tell everyone"
When Tilia opened her mouth, the area calmed down.
"We, the Imperial Army, have succeeded in repelling an army of 20,000 generals directed by the false Emperor Alfort!
"Ooh!
When Tilia declared victory, the twist spread.
The information that the Imperial Army has won over the Imperial Army should be known, but it seems to mean something else when heard from Tilia's mouth.
It's not the kind of situation where you can be optimistic if you try to chrono.
We only controlled the first battle yet, and in this battle we had all the elements unfavourable to the Imperial Army - the fact that the regiment was full of infantry, the shortage of officers and food, the presence of field positions, Baron Trace's insider, and the participation of Brad-led cavalry.
It looks like a dramatic victory, but the Imperial Army could have been defeated had it been able to overcome even one disadvantaged element.
That said, it's important to hustle and hustle about victory.
"This victory could not have been without the devotion of the Imperial Army and their dedication"
That said, Tilia pointed to the coffin that was behind her with her hands.
Ten coffins belong to mercenaries of tribal coalitions.
Yesterday's damage was more than ten dead and three hundred and fifty seriously injured.
More than 60% of the seriously injured are mercenaries of tribal coalitions.
It means that the majority of mercenaries in tribal coalitions have been wounded.
"As with the Lou in the Areos Mountains, there was remorse between the Empire and the Eu, Mou, Hu and Nou tribes in the Bethel Mountains"
……
The audience is silently listening to Tilia.
The five tribes are indigenous people who were chased by the Empire for land.
"But they swallowed that anger for me! In order to realize our ideals, we put our lives at risk to protect the lives and property of the people living in Marquis Elakis and Count Cado!
"Ooh!
The audience flashed at Tilia's words, and the applause just broke.
The people of the tribal federations laughed in the light, but Schiff is faceless.
"... be quiet"
When Tilia controlled by hand, silence came again.
"Recently I said that nobility, civilians, humans, subhumans, prostitutes, slaves, even interracial, are of equal value in front of the emperor as long as I pledge allegiance to the nation! They showed loyalty! Therefore I accept them as the people of the Empire! They are also beloved subjects! Anyone who disagrees, step forward!
"… there are no objections"
It was Elaine who answered.
He says he will embrace not only Tilia, but all the people of the tribal union until Elaine.
The only person who can dispute here is someone with a liver or who can't read the air.
Fortunately, neither of us seems to be here on this occasion.
"Good, as of today they are subjects of the Empire. But this is just a consideration for loyalty. I must reward ten heroes. Knight Arthur, take that."
"Ha!"
Knight Arthur. Dr. Weissman offered a small box when he walked out.
Tilia opened a small box and took out a medal inspired by a lion.
"In our country there is the word that lions die and skin, and men die and leave their names behind. In the name of this medal… I founded the Medal of the Wounded Lion"
"Ooh!
The audience grows.
Is it a lion over here, Krono stared at the medal.
"Shiv, on behalf of the Tribal Union, you take it."
"Ha!"
Schiff stood in front of Tilia for an imperial salute.
I'm counting on your loyalty.
"Ha, we pledge our allegiance to the Empire at all times!
Tilia smiled gently, placing a medal on Schiff's chest from her hand.
The applause just cracked rolled up, and Schiff proudly breasted.
And the people of the tribal confederations were also uplifted in their breasts, but some of them wept.
I'm whimpering like a cough.
I can't help it.
For a long time, tribal coalitions have been treated cold.
That finally paid off.
"And this is a personal gift..."
That said, Tilia offered her hand.
I don't really see it from here, but I know what you're holding on to.
That's plant seed.
"... a god who keeps order in pure white."
When you pray, the seeds grow all at once.
The power of kamikaze is driving growth.
I don't know what logic covers the nutrition needed for growth, but about a cleric would be able to answer that.
Eventually, a number of white flowers blossomed.
Flowers like blurred grass were brought by Callis from the Bethel Mountains.
"Oh, this is..."
"I heard that this flower is a flower that blooms in the Bethel Mountains. I want you guys to make this your second home, but you'll have extraordinary feelings about where you were born. I want to offer this."
"Thank you. They'll be happy, too."
As Schiff lowered his head deeply, Tilia offered flowers to the coffin from her hand.
At that time, the horse noodles echoed.
"Empress Tilia!
"I brought you a horse!
Manchausen and Alonso came in front of the coffin with two horses.
"Thank you!"
"Ha!"
Manchausen and Alonso extended their spines to salute them, and Tilia jumped on the white horse.
"We'll do more funerals than this!
A mercenary from the tribal coalition walks over to the coffin and lifts it gently.
From now on, we will stroll through the city of Sylvania and bury it in a grave dug in the corner of the pioneering village.
"Schiff, can you ride a horse?
"I'm unfamiliar..."
"Enough. You can't give it to a boulder, but ride this horse and join the funeral."
"Ha!"
Schiff received a reins from Alonso and rode the horse in a motion he was really used to.
I wonder what I am if I am unfamiliar with this, Krono thought.
Two more old knights bring two horses.
One for Dr. Weissman and the other...
"... Krono, are you okay?
"You don't have to look so worried."
Krono replied to Dr. Weissman.
"We're going to have Mr. Bear pull the reins."
"So I told you to practice horseback riding"
Dr. Weissman said in a bloody voice.
Funeral if enough to speak out like that - I wanted it to stop when the idea came up of running around the city of Sylvania.
"I was practicing."
"Then why?
"I don't know what to say, I don't seem to have the riding skills"
"What are you talking about, you?"
Dr. Weisman covered his face.
You were like this when you graduated from military school - and Chrono looked up at the sky.
"Marquis Elakis, please come this way"
"Yes, I'm going now"
Chrono took Bear's hand and rode the horse.
Higher vision and feeling good.
"Okay, let's go!
As per Tyria's decree, the funeral proceeded.
"Ha, I'm tired"
Chrono exhales and walks in the field position.
Beyond the horse fence, my men - not prostitutes, regular soldiers - were cleaning up the bodies of the Imperial Army.
It is the deputy who is taking command of the formation.
Over the trench and through the gap in the horse fence, the deputy saw this one.
Good day, Admiral. How'd it go over there? '(Bubble)
"Well, it worked."
Chrono removed the first button of his uniform and loosened his collar.
Can I just say it was a big day, the funeral was a big day.
The Sylvanian inhabitants did not line up on the road - the majority of which seemed to be for Tilia - but dropped off ten heroes.
"Perhaps the tribal federations will accept that, and it would seem honorable to pledge allegiance to the nation."
"It's easy to say that you don't have a body or a lid."
"Because it's true."
The deputy said in a sigh, and Chrono clasped his shoulders.
Both ourselves and the tribal coalitions used death.
"How's that?
"There's a lot of them, so the work's not going very far." (Bubba)
"I guess so."
Krono nodded and stared at the field position.
A good number of bodies are rolling in front of the horse fence.
"How many?
"I will give you more than five thousand. Eight thousand places, including the dead before the showdown."
"Eight thousand."
There were ten casualties in this war, so if you just look at the numbers, it's an overwhelming...
"If they'd gotten over the horse fence, it would've been bad."
'I just thought, why don't we put the position on a vertical level?' (Bubba?
"Vertical layer?
"Create another position in the back and connect it to the one in front. Even if the first breaks through, there's a second."
That's a good idea.
Let's ask Dr. Weissman, and Chrono writes down his deputy's idea in his mind's notebook.
"How about the others?
"The guys who can't wear their gear are nasty." (Buzzing)
"Is that what the teacher and Mr. Minot said?"
Even Chrono knows that corpse fishing sometimes takes place on the battlefield, but when his men ask him, he feels dark.
"What about the Fallen Warrior hunt?
"You too" (Bumabu)
"You too."
Chrono sighed deeply.
Again, this also makes me feel dark when my men ask me.
"For once, I made it easy for you to pay for it." (Bukuya ~)
"If I'm prepared for something like this, I don't have to worry about it."
I gave you the money just in case, but I didn't know anyone was really going to come out to redeem the body -.
"It's not our people, is it?
"I told him I was from Baron Trace's territory."
The deputy ironically hoisted the corner of his mouth.
There's a way to make sure, but it takes a lot of work.
"Where's the body?
"Easy to wrap it up over here."
Krono is led by his deputy and guided to the place where the body is kept.
That's the border between the battlefield and the streets.
Looking at the bodies lying down over time, the mood sinks.
"Count Lucas Lesato in front."
Chrono looked down at Lucas' body.
He's got a distressed look on his face, but other than that, he's an amazingly beautiful body.
The only scratches are those on the back of my hand.
"You must have been sick."
To inspire the soldiers, or Lucas ran out and fell along the way.
Perhaps he was obese and had a strain on his heart.
I said, "I'm glad you're sick."
"A Servant."
The harassment repeated night after night seemed to have had an unexpected effect.
"What about the body you bought?
"Over here."
There was also a body ahead of me when my deputy led me.
Except...
"... terrible."
Chrono moaned, covering his face.
The body there was badly damaged.
With the exception of Lucas, the bodies lying down are severely damaged.
But the body in front of you is more damaged than that.
There are even things with doubly swollen heads, all over the body covered in moles, burnt skin, and no fingers.
"After all, private sentencing (lynching)?
"Admiral, it's easy to get in trouble if you ask me what I know" (Bubba)
I want to hear a word of denial.
Chrono sighed.
This is what happens when you imitate a village like this.
"You got it."
Farmers are not just being abused, they turn to the abusive side if they have the opportunity.
"Tomorrow is our day."
"Don't tell me it's not even on the edge."
"Isn't it important?
"It's the commander who keeps it from happening."
"I know. We need to build a reputation for a well-behaved army."
Attacking haters is easy, but attacking popular people is hard.
I mean, that's the thing.
Nonetheless, Krono glanced at the Kingsguard knight who had been killed in private sentencing.
"How can I punish you?"
"I can only throw a round at Baron Trace."
"Right."
That's what happened in Baron Trace's territory, so we should leave it to the lord to respond.
"Don't you dare, shall we continue with the burial?
"Understand -" (Bu -)
The deputy moved his ears piquely and stared at the field position.
When I was caught and moved my gaze, Elena was approaching us.
You fell into a trench, it's muddy.
Still, how could Elena be here?
Elena stood in front of Chrono while she was thinking about that.
"What's going on?
"I'm here to see the body."
Chrono accidentally glanced at his deputy.
I thought there was something a little different, but I didn't think you had a hobby for seeing corpses.
"Don't get me wrong. I'm not interested."
"Then why?
"You didn't forget about Philip, did you?
"Philip?"
"My ex-fiancé! He's the one who killed my parents and made me a slave!
When Chrono asked the parrot back, Elena screamed like she was pissed off.
"Oh, there you are."
"Why, forget about it?
"'Cause there was only one time at the ball"
Elena seems dissatisfied, but for Chrono, she's just the person she met once.
"You were selling fights then, weren't you?
"Yeah, well, you sold it"
"Yet how can you forget?
"I have a weak impression."
Philip hasn't been involved in Chrono's life since we met at the ball.
What's the matter, my memory fades.
"Well, good."
That said, Elena started looking for Philip's body.
Even so, it leans forward and just moves parallel to the corpse.
"Mr. Minot, may I entrust my men's supervision?
Don't worry about it.
Chrono stands behind Elena.
"With that said, do you have a job?
"I got a vacation. I'm not a slave anymore. That's a natural right, isn't it?
"Even when I was a slave, I didn't tell you not to rest."
I don't know about taking a vacation to look for a body, but I can't help but say that.
After a while Elena stopped in front of a certain body.
It's a body with a deformed head.
The white uniform is stained with dry blood and one finger is missing.
Should I say miraculously, half my face remains safe.
I feel somewhat familiar.
"... that's Philip?
"Yes, it is."
Elena is looking at the body of Zip and Philip.
How long would you have looked at it?
Surprisingly, Elena shrugged.
"What?
"I was wondering if there was anything more."
"Not everyone dies dramatically."
Most of the time, they die lightly.
"I thought I'd be happier. I thought it was something that made me cry because of all the emotions."
"So, what do you think?
"It's just a little mocking, but it feels like this."
Elena woke up her body and sighed small.
"He plotted a conspiracy without my knowledge and died without my knowledge. He's not a very busy man."
"Do you want to throw even a stone?
"Is it good?
"Basically, you can't because you're in trouble when your men imitate you."
I want to be considered a well-behaved army.
So, regular soldiers are being used to carry out burial work on the bodies.
"Then don't ask."
"You need a separation, don't you?
"I don't need that kind of separation. But the separation might be important."
Phew, and Elena laughed.
"Hey, hey?
Elena turned bright red in her face and looked up at Chrono.
I'm grabbing my skirt.
"Hey?"
"There's a bush, there."
"The bush?
Elena opened her eyes to her surprise.
'Cause nobody's watching it. It's okay.'
"Oh, yeah."
Elena leaned down and headed into the woods.
I thought, I turned back on my way.
"Why aren't you coming?
I don't want to go to the bathroom.
"You can't do that!
Elena barked with a bright red face.
Loud enough to echo on the battlefield.
A deputy is looking at this one too big.
"What have you done? '(Bubba?
"I won't do anything!
It's easy to understand! '(Bubba!
The deputy answered aloud and returned to command of the formation.
"No one's talking about the bathroom!
"So what are you talking about?
"Oh, that's..."
Elena bowed in embarrassment and muttered about something with Gonyo Gonyo.
"Talk about what?
"We're talking about a separation! Philip's dead, so I thought I'd give you a reward!
"I can't believe you saw the body."
"No, I'm not!
Elena vandalized her voice.
"I know that, but I don't know how to guess from this situation."
"There, look, it's not a long relationship"
"No, no, because I can't"
We've known each other a long time, but I don't think Elena's the thought circuit that flew that far.
"So, what do you say?
"Separation."
Chrono squeaked smudgingly.
Maybe it's time to move on to the next stage.
"Doesn't sound like much of a ride, does it?
"If you say you're not on board, maybe it is."
"Why not? I'm sunny and free... and I like you, so it's a natural flow, right?
Elena said shyly turning away.
"Yes, it is."
"You're not going to cut it down."
"That being said, I have the courage to switch specialty to generic. Reality is a no-save, one-try thing."
"? - Huh!
Elena leaned her neck strangely, but after a while she noticed the meaning of the words, which turned bright red.
"Co, you pervert!
"Look, we've known each other a long time."
"I know, but! I know that's what you are... Oh, already!
Elena held her head and sat down on the spot.
The next day, Viscount Tina Sheratan, Baron Mesartim and Baron Bossain were gathered in the conference room of the Marquis residence.
We didn't come together spontaneously, we responded to Tilia's call.
I'm pretty sure Alford would treat me like a traitor if he knew, but the three of them are here with knowledge of it.
The door opened and Tilia followed Baron Trace and Brad into the conference room.
You don't look surprised.
I guess we all got the information on our own route because we didn't explain Brad when we called him in.
"You kept me waiting. Okay, let's say we start a meeting."
Tyria gets to her seat, but Baron Trace and Brad remain behind her back.
"And before we do, Baron Trace says we need to talk."
"Yes, sir"
Baron Trace walked out wiping his forehead with a handkerchief.
The handkerchief sucks sweat and is softly wet.
I was busy moving my eyes, but after a while I closed my eyes ghoulishly.
"Actually… I declared defenseless when the Imperial Army arrived"
It sounds like squeezing out.
"Yes, but it's not about our cuteness! To protect the people! There's no way you can beat 20,000 generals with just a thousand soldiers! In the first place, to His Majesty Alfort, no, against the false emperor Alfort, those thousand soldiers could have had their swords against me! And yet the Imperial Army destroyed the village! You killed a man, you offended a woman, you set fire to it! I believed in the animals of the human beast. I was the fool! I can't repent if I repent!
Baron Trace told him to roll up, and Baron Mesartim, Baron Bosain, turned his gaze as if he sympathized.
"Is that good that you support us?
"Swear to my father!
Baron Trace raised his voice.
The expression is different and sunny when I hit it earlier.
Brad's next.
"Ha!"
Brad saluted as he walked out.
"I was suspected of conspiracy and came running with my men."
"Do you have any idea?
"No. Strongly speaking, I've joined an economic alliance."
Brad laughed powerlessly.
"I want to confirm your intentions."
"Now I know I want to join the empire to restore my honor."
Um, Tilia nodded satisfactorily.
"I am delighted with their loyalty. I promise you honorable treatment when I take the throne."
"Ha!"
"Thank you Happiness"
Brad had a brilliant salute and Baron Trace drowned his head deeply.
"Baron Trace and Brad... Viscount Hamal decided to join us, but what do you guys do?
Tilia put her gaze around.
It was Tina who opened her mouth first.
"My answer is settled. I would like to support the ideals of Empress Tilia."
"I'm glad to hear how you feel, but you've got the battalion under control?
"Yes, my uncle..."
Tina smiled hauntingly.
"How about Baron Mesartim and Baron Bossain?
"We want to support our ideals, but we have not yet mastered the military"
"Me too."
The two frowned sorry.
"Can you grasp it?
"Give me a few days..."
"In a couple more days,"
Baron Bossain blocked Baron Mesartim's words.
"I also know that if you give me two days, I can grasp it."
"Okay. I'm counting on you both. Then I promise you honorable treatment."
"Then I will return to the realm."
"Me too. Not so shameless as to participate in a military conference without mastering the battalion."
Barons Mesartim and Bossain stood up and left the conference room early.
"Now, let's briefly describe the operation we set up."
Tilia strictly declared.
"... Phew"
Tilia lowered her back to the chair in the office and exhaled her small.
"War is a hassle."
"What now?"
Tilia told him to blur, and Chrono replied to the sighing.
I feel like I've been throwing up a lot of sighs lately, but it's something I'd wear off if I did something to do with the war even if I couldn't cross my dried goats.
"Whatever, now you've got a winner."
"You're not saying you can win, are you?
"I'm not that arrogant. And... the Imperial Army has Leonhardt."
"Well, sure"
Chrono remembered his parental enlistment - when Ignis had slashed into his own formation.
In this world, exceptional individuals can dictate the state of war.
"The Imperial Army is sure of defeat when they take Tilia's head."
"Don't be sarcastic and scared!
Tilia screamed and held her neck.
"Well, that's with them,"
"In the end, you're fighting for the right to inherit the throne. By the way, did your father-in-law contact you?
"... not yet."
"What, during that time?
"No, it's not too soon to call you stepfather?
"It's too late."
I would at least try to resist, but Tilia wouldn't fit me in.
"No way, you're not going to take responsibility?
"I'll take responsibility."
"Right."
Tilia exhaled in a ho and happily broke her mouth.
It's strange because watching that happens makes me feel like a very bad guy.
"With that said, it's Baron Trace's territory, was he saying anything about mixing up poison?
He was complaining about his innocence.
"What do you think of Tilia?
"If Baron Trace instructed you to mix the poison, wouldn't you appeal to me?
"Well, maybe so"
That's all I had in mind when I asked for permission to conduct military operations.
Rather, it sticks to think that peasants and soldiers mixed the poison.
"What do you say we do about the poison contamination and the killing of the Kingsguard knight?
"They're not gonna do anything."
"You're not even busy."
"Don't tell him that. Baron Trace is full of them."
"I know that."
I get the impression that I'm unable to do anything to try to get consistency.
Well, that's something I can tell you here...
"So, about the letter... it hurts not to be able to work with the southern border"
"It'll only take two months to send a letter."
"What do you think of Chrono?
"I know you'll ride..."
"Actually, do parents and children get along poorly?
"My father and Tyria's mother."
"What do you mean?
"Actually..."
Tilia's complexion grew worse and worse as Chrono explained the cause between her adoptive father and Lady Astrea.
"That's... wouldn't you cooperate?
"I don't think you have any bad feelings for Tilia, so it's okay."
Maybe, I add in my mind.
