Kusuriya no Hitorigoto

XIII. Paper Village Preliminary

Half a day by carriage, the village southwest of the capital is the home of Yabu. They say it's in the woods at the foot of the mountains.

It lies ahead of us, following the source of the Great River that divides the country between East and West. There are waterways along the river, but the fields grow like weeds.

Yabu, who likes to chat when cats and cats stare at each other, gives an explanation.

"That's wheat."

"Is it wheat? You have a lot of good irrigation."

Waterways are built around the fields. Wheat needed so much water, cats and cats tilt their necks.

At your feet is a cat with the unpleasant name Hair (Maomao). He also seems tired of being in a cage, grinding on his yawning knees and glancing at the windows.

"That's for summer rice. Here we make two kinds of rice and wheat a year."

"I see."

"If it was rice, you wouldn't lose soil if you made other crops on the same land."

Twice a year, if crops are to be made, that's all nutrition is lost from the soil. However, if it is a paddy field, it is difficult for the land to lose weight because the water brings nutrition.

Through the field, I saw the woods. There is a village near it.

"It's a rich land."

I feel like I don't have to bother making paper if I'm this rich, but is it different there?

"When I moved here, the fields already belonged to someone else. Thanks to this, the forest was left unattended."

Spring water flowed from nearby mountains, and the forest was rich in paper raw materials, he said. It was difficult to make in large quantities, but it was successful by selling luxury.

Transportation is also convenient near the river.

I've just been curious.

I had eyes with a peasant treading on wheat.

Is there also any resentment for the act of fortifying wheat? My eyes looking at this one were strangely sharp and I felt gloomy.

The cat and cat pretended not to notice and continued to gavel about the doctor's story.

It was about forty small mothers who welcomed me about the village. The soft and lowering eyebrows of the eye area are very similar. She must be the doctor's sister.

When I get a cage with a cat in it, I narrow my eyes and stroke my hair. I guess we talked about it before.

"Oh, well, brother. Welcome back."

"I'm home."

He looks calm at first sight. Ya, but his eyes are tearing up. It would be like that if I hadn't returned home in over a decade.

"I'd like to visit my fathers' tomb."

He probably died while he couldn't leave the rear palace. Yabu makes his nose shrink.

"Yeah, okay. than that."

Hiragana sees the cat and cat.

"Who's this lady?

I was told with my neck tilted.

"Oh, well, you're my assistant. Then I'd like you to say it quickly."

(Did you come with an assistant?)

That's what I said. My sister, she said her name, but I honestly don't remember because I couldn't hear a bit. Um, I don't have a choice, so let's be little mothers.

I won't deny where it is because I'll put my yabu face up.

Yabu's sister leaves more and more dishes (freaks) on the long table. It looks delicious with steamed river fish on vanilla, buns in steamers (paoz) and golden stir-fried rice.

Give deliberately mixed porridge and fish for hair. The hairs go to the cat's beak, and when they do, they tend to eat rice.

"I didn't think you brought such a young daughter-in-law."

"Ha, that's not it"

"That's right."

By the time the vegetables are lined up full of long tables, Yabu's little mother's family arrives. There was one middle-aged man with a hand tufted around his head and two young men. A middle-aged man is my midwife's husband, and the rest is my son or something?

"Long time no see, brother-in-law"

My husband takes a hand plush on his head and greets him with humility. "It's been a long time," the Yabu doctor returns with a smile. Following my husband, one of the young men comes to greet me. But when the other young man sat in his chair ignoring Yabu, he began to disappoint the rice.

"What are you doing without saying hello!

My mistress stares at my son.

"Brother..."

The other young man also sees it in an atmosphere of indescribability. This is my brother, and you mean my brother should have a bad attitude?

Yabu nephew one of them cracks the other wrap and puts it in his mouth. Inside was a pork filling, and the cat and cat came out coveted.

"Respect your uncle, but you haven't been home in years, have you? Why are you calling me by now?"

To the words, Yabu, as usual, has a troubled grin on his lowered brow. I'm obviously used to being made into Mogadishu for being a eunuch, but it would be hard to get this done to my nephew.

I get somewhat upset with cats and cats.

Only to this nephew, he sat in a chair, wondering if he was going to eat something delicious.

"It's bad when it's cold, so I'll take it"

and take the vegetables my nephew tried to take away from me.

Yeah, and the young man stares at the cat and cat, but that's not what I found out. Cats and cats want to be better than this guy, but they know good men and martial arts officers.

The midwife also seems quite angry, handing out porridge and juice without preparing just for her older son. My husband and his youngest son ignore it by sneaking up on the untouched God.

You got angry with the attitude of the family, and when you got the other package, my son up there just left.

After leaving the room, my husband lowered his head to the doctor with his head on.

"Excuse me. He doesn't know how much my brother-in-law did for this village."

"Fine, it's fine. I'm used to this."

Yabu said as he rinsed the porridge looking delicious.

The word I'm used to would have used Yabu without any particular concern, but Yabu's little mother looks like she's going to suffer from it.

Originally, Yabu should have become an officer instead of his little mother being sold out to the rear palace. Even as a parent of Yabu, I would have cared more about my son than my daughter.

"Still, isn't there really something you'd like to talk about more than a meal?

……

In response to Yabu's words, the family becomes silent.

Cats and cats go around listeners either way, so I'm not going to stop eating. The steamed fish is well salted and subtracted, and the vanilla works and is delicious. I was wondering if you could tell me how to season it later.

My husband puts the chopsticks down and sees the yawning.

And I lowered my head slowly.

"I hear your brother-in-law is just a famous doctor who took up Tenko's son. So, I'd like to ask Tenko for a direct trial."

"Ha!?

(I didn't take it away)

I took it up, not Yabu, but Luo Meng, but I guess that place is exaggerated by this Yabu thing. I'll shut you up. The kindness also remains with cats and cats.

But.

Yabu lowered his eyebrows further and placed the chopsticks.

"It's not appropriate for you to listen to me."

"May I see the birth of the Lady Dowager?

Say something unscrupulous. A high-ranking official may be taken as disrespectful and decapitated, such as a direct trial, even though he says he is limited in being allowed to speak.

Cats and cats were given the opportunity to talk to the emperor several times, but all because they allowed the other one to speak.

And the queen was not a queen, but after her. It's harder to keep in touch than being out of the womb.

As it is, the cat and cat talk instead because the doctor is going to be forced to push through the story.

"The doctor who was in the rear palace before has been beaten to a job that is not his fault, has been sentenced to meat and expelled from the rear palace"

"Rumor has it you don't have to know poorly is also what caused it"

It's about my uncle, but it's not a lie.

Yabu little mothers skew their faces "ugh". And drop your shoulders hard.

Yabu looked at it and waved his body forward in a clear way.

"No, Tenko won't be able to, but there might be someone else you can talk to. Tell me what it's all about."

When I say that, my little mother and her husband face each other properly. I wonder if cats and cats would get in the way here, but I don't know what they followed me for.

"This lady over here won't have a problem. Because he's a tough kid."

Rarely did the doctor read the air.

"Then..."

And I opened my heavy mouth.

Originally, it seems that the land in this village was foreclosed. They lent it cheap because the neighborhood landlords wouldn't use it, but as they lived longer, they went on to buy it out. At that time, the landlord was his airy husband, and the inhabitants of this village seemed to be doing it soothingly.

Yet, a few years ago, when that landlord died and replaced his son, the story changes.

The new landlord hated strangers unlike his predecessors. Besides, he has a hard time making something called craftsmanship into Mogadishu, and he doesn't care that it was made from paper for the court.

Before, when the quality of the paper had fallen, he came to this village many times to remind him of his debts.

The previous landlord and I have written that in twenty years we are going to give the village land and forest. The amount is also specified and the payment is not delayed.

"Something tells me the rice yield has decreased because you guys pollute the water, or you can't make rice because you don't have enough water,"

Said son two with a pioneered face.

"So, in this case, it's worse than usual, pay fast, or get out of this land," he said.

For another five years, the payment deadline remains. Exactly, I can't when they tell me to pay for five years at a time.

The other side is the landlord. Cats and cats won't be able to get out too big so they won't be outnumbered by the dowry lady.

"If I were to leave, the house and tools would remain intact. I don't know how long it will take to find a new land."

"They're looking to get our village intact and make their own paper."

"Why again? The rice cake would be a cake shop."

Said Yabu, letting his beard soften up a bit.

At his feet a free cat saw it and nodded his ass trying to jump.

"That's..."

Shaking her head, the midwife said.

"I was suddenly given a tax on cereals this year."

"Still, in our case, taxes have been cheaper since last year, so it's even more frustrating."

I was listening and the cat and cat understood what the intent was.

Low paper taxes see a desire to spread paper in the future in order to increase literacy rates.

Regarding the tax on cereals, I suppose you consider it as a future hoarding that this land that does bifurcation is not enough to be poor in terms of yield or raising taxes.

(Measures to combat locust plague, I guess)

If we send grains made of abundant land to a land that was badly damaged, fewer people would be hungry. I know it's Mr Nguyen's response, and I don't think that's wrong, but it's not a hoard for those of us who were raised taxes.

And this is how the spearhead is directed at this village.

But like I said, I don't think it's easy to get this village to make paper. Because we have some knowledge and experience (know-how) of how to make it, we are able to produce quality paper.

"Still, the trouble is, it's him."

I guess my husband is referring to his son who had a bad attitude earlier.

"He's a little better than this peasant."

"Oh, my brother."

My brother laughs uncomfortably first.

The doctor has his neck clenched, but the cat and cat probably expected it to be a female tease.

"He's not ashamed to learn. I think everything you hear from an officer is the same."

I guess that's why I messed up the officials who raised taxes with the eunuchs and hit eight in the blink of an eye.

"So, please."

I was wondering if you could ask me to cut taxes.

For once, this village falls under the direct jurisdiction of an emperor named Huachong. So, at first, I wonder if I can talk to you directly.

But you won't be able to do that either.

I still don't know if the evil deputy raised taxes because of his private personal greed, but in this case, I have no choice. Even if you raise taxes, it's not expensive enough to have trouble eating.

I am also in trouble.

That's right, it's not something you can do. Yabu has hair on his knees that shakes his mustache a little bit with his forelegs. I have a scratch on my chin.

'Cause I'm just a magistrate.'

Everyone drops their shoulders disappointing in the passive response of the Yabu doctor.

Disappointed, but my husband opens his mouth.

"Well, at least tomorrow, we have a discussion. Will you follow me?"

"If that's about it"

(Wouldn't do any good)

I was wondering if I could keep up, and the cat and cat caught the hairs scratching the yawning.
