Alaska!

Jenny from Melon Ranch!

Gaston!

Hearing these keywords, Sheriff Sean’s gray-blue eyes narrowed again, a complex look flashing through them.

West Yellowstone City was just a tiny place.

It was a small enough place that a fart on the east side could be heard on the west.

Sheriff Sean had heard a thing or two about Jenny’s situation.

She’d been a good girl since she was a child—gentle and kind to others.

She had a pretty good reputation in West Yellowstone City.

Too bad she had poor judgment when it came to men.

Everyone knew Gaston was an utter scumbag, a degenerate who drank, whored, and gambled.

But back then, Jenny had been hell-bent on marrying him, as if she were possessed.

Her life after the wedding was a complete nightmare. Not only did Gaston beat her black and blue every day, but he even ended up disfiguring her.

In the end, the unbearable marriage ended in divorce, and Jenny finally escaped that scumbag’s control.

Thinking of all this, Sheriff Sean couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Now this bastard Gaston had made things so complicated again.

And he’d even gotten his own nephew dragged into it.

The key question was, how did simply kidnapping Jenny provoke the Alaskans?

Were those savages from that land of ice and snow even more barbaric and fierce than cowboys?

Running rampant through West Yellowstone City with AR-15s just like that.

’Could they be members of some gang?’

The names of several notorious Alaskan gangs flashed through Sheriff Sean’s mind.

’A white supremacist organization?’

That extremist group had always promoted white superiority, acting with radical violence and frequently causing all sorts of chaos.

’Or maybe the 1488s?’

That organization was equally infamous, its members fanatical, aggressive, and brutal.

’If not them, then could it be the Hell Angels?’

That motorcycle gang was also known for its ruthlessness and arrogance.

Sheriff Sean knew that no matter which gang it was, their arrival would bring a major storm to West Yellowstone City.

And with his nephew now in their hands, the situation was becoming increasingly difficult.

At this thought, Sheriff Sean’s expression turned grave as he looked at the bald, burly man.

"Quinn, you outlaws should have connections to the Hell Angels. Can you find out who these guys are?"

"Already did," the bald man nodded, his expression growing serious. "Those Alaskans came in on a private jet. When the Hell Angels heard the name of the plane, they warned us not to get involved. They said the jet belongs to the North Slope ConocoPhillips Company, the biggest oil company in Alaska."

Hearing this, Sheriff Sean felt a throbbing in his temples.

A dull pain washed over him like a tide.

In the eyes of ordinary people, gang members were terrifying figures—the kind of people whose names you don’t mention and whose path you don’t cross.

But in the eyes of certain capitalists, gangs were nothing more than toys.

To put it bluntly, gangs often had to latch onto capital to survive and grow, using its power to expand their influence and secure profits.

But for the capitalists, they didn’t necessarily need the gangs.

All capital needed was an obedient dog that would follow their orders and earn them profits.

When they were in a good mood, they’d toss them a piece of meat or a bone, making the gang grateful enough to keep working themselves to death.

But the moment they were in a bad mood, they could swap out the dog at any time, finding a more obedient gang to take its place.

And an oil company like North Slope Conoco was at the very top of the capitalist pyramid—the capital of capital.

Its financial resources were beyond imagination.

Its influence could permeate every level of society.

Not to mention, it was the largest oil company in Alaska. The power behind it was simply unfathomable.

Thinking about this, Sheriff Sean felt a bellyful of rage with nowhere to vent it. The frustration made his face darken even more.

Suppressing his anger, he put on a righteous expression and looked at the bald man.

"What do we do now? Tom is still in their hands. I can’t just act like nothing happened. Even if they’re an oil company, they can’t just run wild in my jurisdiction. I have to think about the citizens."

The bald, burly man inwardly despised the posturing sheriff before him.

’When it was time to split the money, this guy always had to have a hand in everything, raking in a fortune.’

’Now that there’s trouble, he’s scared to death but still putting on an act.’

’Fucking disgusting.’

However, he remembered that an upcoming shipment needed Sheriff Sean’s help to get through.

Straining their relationship wouldn’t be good for business.

So, Quinn immediately plastered a smile on his face and offered some insincere comfort. "Hey, Sean, don’t worry. I’ve already sent men to tail those Alaskans quietly. As long as we don’t interfere rashly, that kid Tom should be fine. I just got word that they’re heading toward the mountains now."

’Toward the mountains?’

Sheriff Sean muttered to himself, his brow tightly furrowed.

A few days ago, all the mountain roads were closed because of the cold snap and blizzards. What were they doing going into the mountains?

’To dump a body and silence a witness?’

A bad feeling suddenly surged within him. He snapped back to his senses and quickly shouted to his men.

"Quick, everyone get in the cars!"

...

「Outside West Yellowstone City.」

A winding, snow-covered mountain road snaked across the landscape.

Four SUVs sped past like lightning, kicking up a white cloud of powder like a snow fog, their whistling engines tearing through the silent mountain forest.

Thankfully, Yves had been thorough when booking the vehicles.

He had specifically requested that the rental company switch the tires to special-grade snow tires.

Although the special-grade snow tires were several times more expensive than regular ones, you got what you paid for.

These special tires provided much stronger grip than standard snow tires.
