Landlord in the Arctic

Chapter 667 - 430: Action

Seeing the young officer’s extreme reaction, Feng Mountain nodded impassively and followed up with a question.

"That’s right. You know Jenny?"

The young officer nodded vigorously, the words tumbling out of him. "Of course, I do! Jenny was my senior. We went to the same school. She was the belle of Hot Spring High School. When I was in first grade, she was already in ninth. It’s just a shame she ended up marrying that bastard scum Gaston. In West Yellowstone City, Gaston is..."

’Another chatterbox.’

Feng Mountain frowned slightly. Unable to take it anymore, he cut him off, his tone clearly impatient.

"Alright, buddy, we can catch up later. This is an emergency. Please tell us about the security and staff at Reindeer Mountain Ski Resort."

"Hold on, right, my name’s Little Tom." As he spoke, the young officer reached into the pocket of his green patrol uniform. After fumbling around for a moment, he pulled out a small, slightly worn notebook.

He then flipped through the pages, muttering to himself the whole time.

"Because of the cold snap and blizzard a few days ago, most businesses in the city were forced to close. To ensure safety, the county sheriff’s office required us to register the staff remaining at each closed location. My uncle, Sheriff Sean, dumped this crappy job on me..."

Listening to his endless rambling, Yves couldn’t help but finger the pistol at his hip.

’If we weren’t both officers, I’d seriously consider putting a bullet in this chatterbox.’

"Can you please get to the point and skip the irrelevant details."

"One second, buddy... Found it." Little Tom finally landed on a page and pointed at it excitedly. "After Reindeer Mountain Ski Resort closed, four security guards remained on site: Andy Hawke, Bobby Harrison, Alik Peyton, and Hal Rivers."

After he finished, Little Tom looked up at the group, an expectant expression on his face.

It was as if he was waiting for them to praise him for the information he had provided.

’Four people!’

’Plus Gaston, that means there are at least five people at the ski resort.’

Feng Mountain and Yves exchanged a look, a silent understanding passing between them as their eyes met.

Then, Yves turned to Little Tom, his gaze sharp, and asked, "Does the ski resort have any employee dorms or anything like that?"

"It does," Little Tom answered without hesitation, raising a hand to point at a spot on the resort map laid out on the snow. "The employee housing is to the left of the terrain park. There’s a row of cabins there."

"Normally, those cabins are rented out to skiers, but in special situations, they’re also assigned to employees. I remember there are over twenty of them. A few are suites, which are bigger, and a few are single rooms, which are smaller... Hey, hey, don’t walk away! I’m not done talking!"

Little Tom, who had been happily rambling on, suddenly became upset when he saw that the group gathered around him had dispersed, each person seemingly off to handle their own tasks. He quickly reached out and grabbed Feng Mountain’s arm.

"Hey, buddy, listen to me."

"Sorry, I’m really busy right now. I don’t have time to chat." Feng Mountain felt a headache coming on, desperate to free himself from Little Tom’s pestering.

Just then, he caught sight of Diego standing alone off to the side. His eyes lit up, and he quickly pushed Little Tom toward him. "If you think of anything else, talk to Diego. He’ll take notes for me."

With that, Feng Mountain turned to get busy with the preparations for rescuing Jenny.

Little Tom and Diego stared at each other, and the atmosphere was momentarily awkward.

Diego frowned slightly, looking at Little Tom with an expression of helplessness, as if silently asking what they were supposed to talk about. Little Tom scratched his head and muttered, "You guys are so cold. Is it really that hard to find someone to chat with?"

「Meanwhile.」

Yves and the veterans now had a rough understanding of the Reindeer Ski Resort’s layout based on the information they’d just received.

One veteran, working from the descriptions provided by Little Tom and Diego, even sketched out a more detailed topographical map on paper.

The veterans gathered to one side, discussing the next phase of the plan in low voices.

They carefully analyzed the resort’s terrain, the kidnappers’ likely positions, and the best route for infiltration, leaving no detail unexamined.

Once the next phase of the plan was decided,

Yves stood up, his gaze sweeping over the veterans before he gave a nod.

The veterans’ expressions immediately grew serious, and they quickly closed ranks around Yves.

Yves led the team over to Feng Mountain.

"Boss, the SUV is too big a target. I’ll take a team in to infiltrate the ski resort first and find an opportunity to rescue Jenny and the others. You, Gordon, and his men should stay here for now and wait for our signal."

Feng Mountain refused without the slightest hesitation.

"No. I’m going with you. When I’m hunting on the Tundra, not even the cunning Taiga Wolves can escape my grasp, let alone a few pieces of trash like them."

"Watching the vehicles is a job for Gordon and the other three."

As for Nash, that went without saying.

For him, wherever Khilla Feng Mountain went, he would follow without a second thought.

He remembered how he hadn’t been able to return to their home country with Khilla a while back.

The elders in his tribe had practically drowned him with their scolding.

So this time, no matter what, he had to stay by Khilla’s side.

"Alright!" Yves sighed in resignation. He knew that once his boss made a decision, a team of wild horses couldn’t drag him away from it.

So he turned to Gunpowder to assign the pre-departure tasks.

"Get the gear out and distribute it. Gordon, you and the other three are on vehicle duty. Don’t make a move until you hear from us."
