Chapter 432 - 313: Landing
As the old saying goes, there’s no place like home.
And it couldn’t be truer.
Feng Mountain strolled forward, reveling in the fresh air and quiet polar night of the Crown Territory.
Meanwhile, Fiona peeked her little head out from a warm animal-hide coat, her big eyes wide with curiosity as she took in her surroundings.
’I was just shivering from the cold, so how did it suddenly get so warm? And there’s even lush green grass on the ground—it’s even prettier than the lawn at school!’
The group arrived at the wooden bridge leading into the camp.
Jenny was standing quietly at the head of the bridge.
She stood like a wife watching for her husband’s return, her gaze filled with eager anticipation.
Finally, upon seeing Feng Mountain return safe and sound, a flicker of excitement crossed Jenny’s face—an irrepressible joy.
As if her feet had a will of their own, she involuntarily hurried a few steps in his direction.
But after just a few paces, she seemed to remember something and abruptly slowed.
Her expression shifted just as quickly, returning to normal. The corners of her mouth curved up into a subtle, perfect smile as she spoke softly.
"You’re back."
"Yeah, I’m back." A current of warmth flowed through Feng Mountain’s heart as he looked at Jenny.
He replied just as softly, and those three simple words seemed to carry all their shared exhaustion and present relief.
"Hello, Auntie. I’m Fiona!" Fiona said in a small voice. She was a little frightened by the scar on Jenny’s face and stood timidly behind Feng Mountain.
Seeing this, Jenny gently approached Fiona and knelt. "Hello, little Angel," she said, her voice as soft as a spring breeze. "I’m Auntie Jenny. Are you hungry? I made some beef noodles, and they’re delicious!"
Fiona remembered her father telling her to be polite.
She was just about to instinctively shake her head and say she wasn’t hungry.
But just then, her uncooperative stomach let out a loud RUMBLE.
Her little face instantly flushed as red as a ripe apple, and she was so embarrassed she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
Jenny couldn’t help but smile at Fiona’s adorable reaction, her eyes filled with affection.
She gently picked Fiona up, then turned to a weary-looking Feng Mountain and said thoughtfully,
"You must be exhausted. Go back to the cabin and get some rest. I can handle things here."
"Okay. Thank you," Feng Mountain said gratefully.
The round trip had involved over ten hours on a plane, not to mention the drastically different climates and the troubles he’d encountered in Baird Town.
After landing, he felt so exhausted he thought he might fall apart.
Right now, the best way to rest would be to soak in a hot spring and then crawl into bed for a long sleep.
After briefly explaining the remaining matters to Jenny, Feng Mountain dragged his weary body back to his cabin.
Steam rose from the hot spring pool. As he soaked in the water, his fatigue gradually dissipated with the swirling mist.
After his soak, he lay down on his soft bed and fell into a deep sleep almost the very next moment.
He slept soundly and peacefully until he woke up on his own.
Feng Mountain lazily reached for his phone. It was already 3:00 PM.
The denim suit was nice, but it wasn’t warm. Wearing such a thin outfit in the Arctic Circle was just asking for misery.
So, he changed back into his warm Far North Tundra outfit and finally felt comfortable. Then, he ambled out of the cabin.
WHOOSH!
A sharp sound, like a blade, instantly tore through the silent sky of the polar night.
It was followed by a series of crisp CRACKS and POPS.
In an instant, clusters of brilliant fireworks burst across the inky canvas of the sky.
The fireworks, as if lit by a pair of invisible, masterful hands, instantly bloomed with multicolored light. Red like fire, pink like the dawn, and purple like a dream, they blossomed wantonly against the dark sky.
Feng Mountain had been strolling along, but the sudden feast of fireworks brought him to a halt.
He looked up, his gaze instantly captivated by the night sky, now alight with pyrotechnics.
At that moment, the brilliant fireworks were reflected in his eyes, their shimmering light like stars falling into his gaze, sending ripples across the calm lake of his heart.
Feng Mountain stood quietly, immersed in the brief yet stunning beauty, as if time itself had stopped for this splendid moment.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
One after another, more fireworks lit up the night, pushing the visual feast to its climax.
At the same time, the faint sound of laughter, accompanying the blooming fireworks, drifted to his ears.
Snapping out of his reverie, Feng Mountain walked toward the source of the fireworks.
Passing the fire pit, he saw Milyukov and a few others still busy assembling the Mammoth skeleton.
After several days of work, they had only managed to assemble a single leg.
’It seems they still have a long way to go before it’s fully assembled!’
Not wanting to disturb their work, Feng Mountain tiptoed past and continued on his way.
The fruit trees along the path were already lush with branches and leaves, and many even had small, delicate flower buds.
As for how fruit trees could blossom without any sun...
...it would be difficult to explain with conventional scientific theories. Theology, on the other hand, might offer a few far-fetched ideas.
After all, this was all happening in the Crown Territory, a place blessed by the Fire Seed. Here, many things that defied common sense seemed perfectly natural.
He arrived at the dining hall.
In the open space before it stood a boisterous crowd.
The three little girls—Fiona, Liu Lan, and Lotti—were gathered together, happily waving lit sparklers. The multicolored sparks reflected on their smiling faces.
Surrounding them was a crowd of fun-loving young people, including Feng Jun, Erica, Maria, and Tammy, all lost in the joyous atmosphere, their laughter and chatter filling the air.
