Legend of Wyatt

"How... how could this be?!"

Above the central area of Cloud Mist Lake, amidst multiple scanning gazes, an elderly man dressed in gray clothes saw the name of Declan Hawkins disappear from the leaderboard. His pupils constricted, and his complexion changed dramatically.

At the same time, a powerful aura involuntarily surged from him, causing a palpitation among some of the weaker individuals around.

"So strong!"

"Who is he? Just his aura is terrifying!"

"You don’t recognize him? He is the Grand Elder of the Hawkins Family, a seventh-grade family!"

"Hawkins Family Grand Elder? Why did he come personally? Normally, his status wouldn’t bring him to such a gathering, right?"

"It seems Declan Hawkins being killed is hard for the Hawkins Family Grand Elder to accept."

"That’s understandable... with Declan Hawkins’s talent and insight, he must have been a key figure for the Hawkins Family’s cultivation focus. Losing such a person, it’s hard for any senior member of the Hawkins Family to accept."

...

Although many recognized the elderly man, few knew of the ’relationship’ between him and Declan Hawkins.

The elderly man in gray clothes was indeed the leader of the Hawkins Family present this time, the Grand Elder ’Luka Hawkins,’ whose strength was not weaker than the leaders of the three sects and two families this time, except for the head of the Harmonious Immortal Sect.

It was his first time leading a group to join the excitement in the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm lower realm.

And this time, he personally led the group because one of the Upper Immortals from the Hawkins Family here was his most beloved and valued grandson.

Declan Hawkins was his grandson.

"Declan... Declan is dead?!"

Luka Hawkins’s face changed unpredictably as he muttered to himself in disbelief, as if he refused to accept this as reality.

"Grand Elder, please restrain your grief."

Standing beside Luka Hawkins was a middle-aged man, also an elder of the Hawkins Family but holding far less status; he was just an ordinary elder.

"That Declan Hawkins was this Grand Elder’s most beloved grandson, and now he has died inside... the Grand Elder probably regrets letting Declan enter the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm lower realm."

This elder of the Hawkins Family sighed inwardly, knowing Declan Hawkins’s irreplaceable place in the Grand Elder’s heart.

And now, with Declan dead, the Grand Elder’s mood was understandable.

Meanwhile, he was also filled with shock.

Declan Hawkins actually died inside?

To know, Declan Hawkins was the most outstanding genius of their Hawkins Family in a thousand years, a little over two hundred years old, not only having reached the peak Upper Immortal level but also having comprehended two profound meanings of the Wind System Law Rule.

Someone like him, among all the Upper Immortals entering the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm this time, would definitely rank in the top ten in terms of strength.

Yet now he was dead!

Bang!

The void trembled beneath Luka Hawkins’s feet, and in a flash, he appeared near the leaders of the three sects and two families.

His gaze first fell on Sect Leader Green Wave of the Harmonious Immortal Sect, then he slightly clasped his hands in greeting, "Sect Leader Green Wave."

"Elder Luka."

The Hawkins Family, being a seventh-grade family, naturally meant Sect Leader Green Wave recognized this Grand Elder.

"I can roughly guess your purpose... However, as for the situation within the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm lower realm, not even we can know."

"Therefore, even if we wanted to tell you who killed your grandson, we’re powerless."

Sect Leader Green Wave said.

"I understand this."

Luka Hawkins nodded, then said solemnly, "I am here to ask Sect Leader Green Wave for a personal favor... If I can confirm who killed my grandson once people come out, I hope Sect Leader Green Wave will turn over that person’s life to me."

Throughout, Luka Hawkins did not look at the leaders of the other two sects and two families because the person he wanted to kill could not be stopped by them.

Only Sect Leader Green Wave had the ability to stop him.

"I’m afraid that won’t be possible."

Sect Leader Green Wave shook his head, "It’s not that I’m not giving Elder Luka face, but concerning matters of the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm lower realm, we three sects and two families cannot make decisions... After all, the authority to open the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm lower realm is delegated to us by the Mystic Abyss Mansion."

"Sect Leader Green Wave, being one of the ten patrol envoys of the Mystic Abyss Mansion, if you are willing to do me this favor... I believe they will not blame you given your status."

Luka Hawkins was very persistent.

Yet, Sect Leader Green Wave still refused him, leaving him no choice but to retreat.

All along, many people’s gazes moved with Luka Hawkins, vaguely guessing his intentions in seeking Sect Leader Green Wave.

"This Grand Elder of the Hawkins Family, Luka Hawkins, is Declan Hawkins’s grandfather... With Declan Hawkins dead, he must be wishing to tear the murderer to pieces!"

"He approached Sect Leader Green Wave surely to request not to stop him from avenging."

"But can he ascertain who killed his grandson, Declan Hawkins?"

"This certainly cannot be confirmed... Nevertheless, preparations must be made if later he can verify who killed his grandson. In such a case, if Sect Leader Green Wave intervenes, it’s impossible for him to avenge his grandson."

"Hence, he sought Sect Leader Green Wave to ensure no obstruction for his revenge... But, seeing his unpleasant expression now, it’s clear Sect Leader Green Wave refused him."

"This is quite normal; if Sect Leader Green Wave did not refuse him, setting such a precedent would make anyone afraid to kill recklessly in the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm in the future."

...

Apparently, many people have guessed what Luka Hawkins went to see Sect Leader Green Wave for.

"After Declan Hawkins’ death, it seems that no one has suddenly gained eight points on the leaderboard..."

A middle-aged man’s eyes scanned the points leaderboard, mumbling to himself.

"Nonsense! Of course, such a situation would never occur!"

An old man not far from him stated naturally, "If someone suddenly gained eight points now, wouldn’t that be telling everyone that he was the one who killed Declan Hawkins?"

"In this situation, the person who killed Declan Hawkins and gained those eight points would have them trickling through the leaderboard, increasing slowly... This is a method similar to a Blind Method, to prevent anyone from knowing who killed whom inside."

The old man explained.

"I see... In that case, unless the person who killed Declan Hawkins admits it personally, or someone saw him do it, no one would know he actually did it!"

"Exactly."

"If not for this, wouldn’t everyone who entered be overly cautious? Then, what would be the point of opening the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm?"

...

Many people, who were previously unaware of this rule on the leaderboard, now understood the rules of the points leaderboard.

"Huh? Wyatt Barnes’ points just increased by two!"

Cyrus Cruz, the emperor of the Autumn Holding Kingdom, who had been staring at the points leaderboard, suddenly perked up.

Although several other people’s points increased by one or two at the same time, making the increase seem insignificant, he still noticed it.

After all, he was only focusing on a few names.

"Five points now... Wyatt Barnes, you truly didn’t disappoint me."

Cyrus Cruz’s face showed a smile, but when he saw the few at the top of the leaderboard, his eyebrows involuntarily furrowed slightly, "However, the one at the top has already gotten eleven points."

"Even the person in tenth place has collected seven points."

"I hope he can get into the top ten soon."

Hopeful colors flashed in Cyrus Cruz’s eyes.

Although he also paid attention to the death of Declan Hawkins from the Hawkins Family, he did not link Declan Hawkins’ death to Wyatt Barnes.

In his view, Declan Hawkins, who had comprehended the pinnacle of two Profound Meanings of the Wind System Law Rule, and reportedly also comprehended the ’Profound Meaning of Swiftness’, was unmatched.

Under these circumstances, he did not believe Wyatt Barnes could have killed Declan Hawkins.

In fact, deep in his subconscious, he might even believe:

Wyatt Barnes is not a match for Declan Hawkins!

"Grand Elder, even if the one from the Hehuan Immortal Sect agrees with you, it will still be difficult for you to find the murderer who killed your grandson."

Another elder from the Hawkins Family looked at the returning Luka Hawkins and said with a bitter smile.

"Whoever has the highest suspicion, I’ll kill them!"

Luka Hawkins’ eyes were cold, and he said in a deep voice.

Although he had many sons, and even more grandsons, the one he valued most was Declan Hawkins.

Declan Hawkins’ death made him extremely furious, eager to charge into that lower realm of the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm and catch the murderer to avenge Declan Hawkins!

Hearing Luka Hawkins’ words, the elder of the Hawkins Family showed a bitter smile.

The power of the Upper Immortals who entered the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm this time, that he knew of, could only be matched by a few from seventh-grade forces.

But those few people can only match Declan Hawkins’ strength, and killing him would be extremely difficult.

Of course, there is another possibility:

Declan Hawkins might have been killed by a joint effort!

If it was this situation, finding out who killed Declan Hawkins would be even more difficult...

Everything happening outside was unknown to Wyatt Barnes.

Although his points continued to increase slowly for a while, soon adding up to eight more points.

No one suspected he was the one who killed Declan Hawkins.

Firstly, during this period, more than just him gained eight points.

Moreover, some people vaguely knew his strength, and through their words, Luka Hawkins easily crossed Wyatt Barnes off the suspicion list.

Shortly after Declan Hawkins’ death, Luka Hawkins paid close attention to the points leaderboard, memorizing the names of those whose points increased quickly, adding them to the list of suspects who could have killed his grandson, Declan Hawkins.

Lower realm of the South Heaven’s Ancient Realm.

"Finally made it out..."

In the blink of an eye, another month passed. Following the guidance, Wyatt Barnes finally emerged from the forest that seemed endless and boundless.

Moreover, he moved at an incredibly fast speed.

This also signifies how vast that forest must have been.
