When Ray went to find the guards, fortunately, a group of guards were just on their way to the study where Ray was located and were able to rendezvous immediately.

"Oh, Ray. What's the matter with you? Did you find anything that was heading this way? By the way, this one didn't seem to have a clue."

One of the guards looks at Ray and squeals like that.

The other guard who was acting with me was also nodding to agree with the voice of such an other party.

(Does the fact that you didn't know the guard in charge really mean there was nothing... or that even the guards couldn't find it... well, I guess which one)

Shouldn't we have brought even bandits who are better at exploring than guards?

While thinking like that, Ray shakes his neck to the side.

"There it is."

"Well, I knew you too... what?

I guess the guard thought he was going to say that Ray couldn't find anything either.

Unexpectedly, Ray found something.

Ray goes on to say more as he sees the two guards surprised.

"And he was attacked by a guy who supposedly was protecting this mansion where I was doing all sorts of research."

"Is that true? I thought I'd say you were safe, but Ray wouldn't be a problem."

Some of the guards thought that Ray would have no problem getting attacked by other opponents because he lightly knocked down the old man who came out when he tried to enter this mansion.

Neither does Ray, nor does he get good at it, snorts.

"Well, you are. In fact, I think he was weaker than the guy who came out on that front door.... Whatever, he's tied up and left in the study, so come with me."

"Study? Was the place Ray was looking for a study"

"Oh.... just from what I've been through, there was nothing. The only switch I found on the wall."

It's obviously suspicious, and naturally the look on the guards' faces will be more serious than ever.

"So you tried pressing that switch?

"No, I was wondering what to do with the area. If this is as many little villains around there, I've tried pressing the switch right away... this one mastermind is cautious. If you push the switch on the wall, if you do poorly, this mansion will collapse and destroy the evidence... Oh, my God."

"Uh... I guess. Wouldn't it be strange to have such a trick just for an unusually cautious opponent"

"Right, so I was just looking for someone who knows a lot about that, and I met you guys."

That being said, the guards also understand what Ray expects.

I mean, I guess we want ourselves to check the switches and see if there's any strange tricks.

"Okay. Then do you want to go quickly? There's a chance Ray might be able to get some information from him."

Thus Ray took the two guards and tried to go back to the study earlier... where he could see the study door and Ray's foot suddenly stops.

"Ray?"

"... I didn't expect you to kill your people so lightly. No, maybe another guard came after I left, and that guy was attacked?

He was a guard who suddenly tried to say something to Ray, who stopped his leg, but I guess he understood what happened with that word. Look at the door that leads to the study so that it follows Ray's gaze with a harsh look.

"What do we do?

"You need to go get it for now. If a guard stinks of blood after being attacked, an allowance might help.... the guy I caught was tied up so he couldn't move, so if they were attacking you, they wouldn't be able to stop the bleeding, so it'd be hard to help."

"If there was a guy who was caught, he'd be on his side, wouldn't he? Why would you do that?

"Well. I didn't know when we were coming back, so I thought it would be hard to carry a man who was passing out. Is it a mouth seal, or simply a rock on the other side?... Anyway, if you go in there, you'll be clear about that area."

"Okay."

Tell him so, the three of them, including Ray, head to the study and enter the room.

Once inside the room, the guards look around the room with a slightly unpleasant look as to whether they were able to fully recognize the smell of blood.

"This is..."

"Look."

One of the guards tried to say something but the other told him so to block it and the study wall...... points to a wall decorated with a painting with the sea that Ray saw.

There was a man who had been attacked by Ray earlier, trying to line it up as if it were a painting.

Yes, in the literal sense, both hands and feet were spread in large letters and their tips were stretched by metal piles.

But the cause of the strong iron rust smell that had drifted was not from the pile that was piercing his hands and feet, but from the cut and ripped throat wound.

The time Ray was away from this study was about fifteen minutes.

In the meantime, I did something like this quickly... and even if I made it one of us, it couldn't be said to be normal.

"You're a very handy guy.... and brutality and self-assertion are strong"

To Ray's words, the two guards nod as they gave a bitter look.

If you just want to seal your mouth, you can do things like chop off your neck, stab your heart, pierce your head.

Nonetheless, it would be a manifestation of self-assertion that he deliberately imitated the wall to stop the tip of both hands and feet from being stitched with a pile after his neck had thus been slashed and torn.

(Besides, I didn't hear a pile pounding against the wall. So the guy who did this didn't hit the pile with a hammer or anything, but by some other means he let it crash into the wall. That's what you push with your hand...... or something)

If the sound, which also means both hands and feet, struck the pile with a hammer at least four times, the sound is superior and strange if it is not audible to Ray even if it is away.

The absence of such a thing was a testament to the use of means other than hammers and hammers that did this.

"In the meantime, what do we do? Should I put this body down? If we keep this up, we'll be sure to get in the way of checking out this room."

"I guess."

To Ray's words, an immediate nodding guard.

Putting the body down on the floor means that's what can get in the way of checking the room.

But it's definitely easier mentally to get a body out on the floor... or even in the hallway, than to see a body stranded on a wall more than once while I'm checking the room.

If you think about maintaining the scene, it's not a very praiseworthy thing.

Either way, Ray and the guards carry the body down the hallway as they pull the pile out of both hands and feet of the stranded body.

Ray said it could be stored in the mistering, but for whatever reason, the guards turned it down.

Did you hate being able to rely on Ray for everything, or was there another reason?

Ray didn't even know which of them it was, but decided that if the guards in office were to say so, they should do so, and follow suit.

"So, what's a switch?

"Come here for a second"

I call the guard who asks a painting of the sea... to the place where the earlier man was staked out.

The guards didn't think it was much more interesting than I was seeing the sight earlier, but nevertheless approach the wall wondering if it had more to do with the switch than Ray called me.

"Look, there it is.... you see that?

To such Ray's words, the guards gaze at the pointed wall.

At first I looked in the direction Ray indicated, but I had no idea where the switch was, but still I guess I finally figured it out when I focused on it.

Eventually one guard opens his mouth.

"I see it. Over there."

Then he talks about finding another guard as well.

"Looks like we both found it. Above all.... So, what do you think? You think that's some kind of trap?

"Uh... I don't know. I don't think I would have bothered to set a trap, considering I was hiding it from you like this."

"Oh. If we were to set a trap, that would be the easier place to understand and see that switch."

In the opinion of the two guards, there was probably no more trap set than being in a difficult place to find so far.

Ray also nodded whether he thought the words made sense... but what he said was a different word from the guard's conclusion.

"The guy behind this one is a pretty careful guy. Only a guy like that has some trick on a switch that's in a hard place to find... doesn't that sound strange to you?

"It's..."

I guess I thought Ray's words made sense, too. The guards can't go on with the words any further.

In fact, if Ray told me, it was a very convincing reason.

"... ok. It doesn't extend to real bandits, but I also have a little skill in that hand, so I'll do a little research. Just don't expect too much."

That said, one of the guards heads to the wall with the switch.

As the saying goes, I'm looking closely at the perimeter of the switch, but the gesture is by no means skilled.

Still, given the current situation, it was definitely the best choice to leave it to the somewhat skilled guards.

(Well, what the hell is coming out? If I could, I'd have a hidden room, and beyond that, it'd be helpful if you had this mastermind)

Things don't carry that easily.

Ray knew that, too, but it was nevertheless an honest thought that he wanted me to find some clue.

And after a few minutes...... Ray, who was examining the switch on the wall, accidentally turns his gaze toward the door.

The guard who was next to Ray naturally notices the move as well, allowing him to move at any time while tightening his gaze.

I thought that whoever made that body might have returned... but it was one of the guards who showed up through the door.

"Hey, what's with the body in that hallway?

If you try to be the guard who came into the room, it would be a natural question.

Ray opens his mouth to such guards without looking particularly surprised.

"You're one of the guards of this mansion. Yeah, by the way, I'm not the one who killed him. Perhaps someone from another escort did it to seal your mouth... but more importantly, are you alone? What happened to the guy you were working with?

Yes, there was only one guard who came into the study.

Originally, the two to the three of us would be moving in alarm of a raid by an old man or a man who was corpsed in a hallway.

Nonetheless, the fact that there was only one guard who showed up this way was enough to make Ray uncomfortable.

(A traitor among the guards...... is it possible?

With that in mind, that was Ray, who decided it wasn't strange that this man was the one who created the body in the hallway, and asked him as he was able to respond immediately to anything, but I guess the guard understood that he was suspected. Raise your hands in panic and claim that you are not passing through the enemy.

"I know what you guys are thinking, but I'm not a traitor. Just something a little unexpected over there... no, find someone. So I came here to talk to you about what to do."

"I know why, but you've often come alone"

With that said, Ray solves the problem once and for all.

Although, I still don't completely trust you in this situation, so I can take care of it as soon as something happens.

"Looks like Ray had a raider, but he wasn't here. However, there were no raiders, but instead they found the unexpected. So I came here to talk to you about what I should do."

By nature, you should avoid acting alone to alert someone like you would raid.

But this is how I came alone because where this guard is, he was never attacked by anyone who had been entrusted with guarding this mansion.

"Don't be impotent."

A guard who was checking the switch on the wall tells him like he was stunned at the other person for coming alone to inform him.

Most importantly, this guard could not find anything in particular where they had examined him, and he was not attacked.

That's why it wasn't strange to think there wasn't someone's raid.

"Well, think that's all you were in a hurry"

"... so what exactly did you find?

To Ray, who asks, the guard who came here gives a serious look... open his mouth.

"Of those who have become bones and skins alone, a large number of corpses. Ten or twenty won't be enough."

Yes, I told him.
