Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Although there’s a tent, this is the wilderness after all.

In this primitive forest, there are quite a few wild beasts, mainly aggressive wild animals like black bears, wild boars, and Tibetan Bears, so naturally, Li Younan brought along his hunting knife before coming over.

He brought two utility hunting knives since he would be using them himself, so Li Younan had high standards for the knives, much better than the ones the Canada program team had given him before.

Both are M390 powdered steel; those who often chop wood know that powdered steel is a truly high-end metallurgical product.

These two knives, one is a long knife, the other is a short knife.

Li Younan used the long knife to cut some branches nearby and simply made a defensive structure around the tent—crossed wooden fences with sharpened spikes, which can be quite lethal for non-feline animals.

Although Li Younan is very swift in his work, it was already evening by the time he finished.

Throughout the process, Liu Li naturally stayed by Li Younan’s side, doing some simple tasks like moving branches around.

It’s clear that Liu Li wasn’t the least bit scared of the wilderness, rather her eyes were filled with yearning for the Alone in the Wilderness lifestyle. To her, this hands-on experience of building a shelter was extremely interesting.

However, it was somewhat regrettable that the safety-guaranteed beam lifting rammed-earth house Li Younan had built in Canada couldn’t be made here; since they were only staying for a day, Younan naturally wouldn’t put in too much effort.

Once the simple shelter was built, it was truly time to rest.

Although the altitude here isn’t considered high in the Tibetan Area, it’s around 3,000 meters.

During mid-April, when the sunlight completely fades, it still gets a bit chilly.

Without a light source in the forest, it plunges into genuine darkness.

Li Younan was naturally accustomed to such darkness, considering he had lived for such a long time by Chilco Lake in Canada.

In comparison, that place was still a foreign land, and the loneliness brought by the darkness was even more intense. So here, being a bit darker wasn’t really a problem, especially with Liu Li next to him.

Once the two-person tent was set up, the inside space was about the size of a large bedroom, though you couldn’t stand up, only sit.

Inside the tent, there were two backpacks in the corner, and a small camping lamp hung from the top, its soft yellow light adding a touch of warmth to the inside, giving it quite a cozy feel.

You could hear the wind whistling outside.

Liu Li crouched in the corner, quietly arranged her sleeping bag, then climbed inside.

She only removed her parka, there was still a layer of down-jacket underneath, and with the physical barrier of the sleeping bag, it didn’t feel particularly awkward despite being in the same tent.

Li Younan was a great sleeper, but he didn’t plan to sleep right away, instead taking out all the electronic devices to check them.

Because this place was remote and rarely visited, there wasn’t any telecom signal coverage, and the phone was completely without signal.

However, for Li Younan, contacting the outside world wasn’t difficult.

One option was to use the satellite phone feature equipped on Huawei mobile phones in open areas, and he also had a hand-held radio. Even though this radio had only 5 watts of power, for someone like Li Younan, a radio expert, using satellites as relays to contact the outside world wasn’t tough.

Compared to Li Younan who had something to do, Liu Li—who clearly had nothing to do—also showed no intention of sleeping.

After Li Younan finished checking his gear, he turned his attention to Liu Li, seeing her eyes wide open, snug in her sleeping bag, staring at him without moving.

"Why aren’t you sleeping yet?"

Liu Li said, "I can’t fall asleep."

"If you don’t sleep early, you won’t have the energy to climb the mountain tomorrow. Today was just the appetizer."

"I really can’t sleep."

Liu Li thought for a moment and simply climbed out of her sleeping bag, sat up, took out her phone, "Otherwise, I’ll study for a bit."

Only holding her phone, she swiped it a couple of times and suddenly remembered something, asking Li Younan, "With my current education level, um, not having attended high school yet, can I still go to university? I mean a regular university, not those part-time or online coursework universities... I don’t want just that certificate."

"Of course you can. You can also take the college entrance exam as a so-called social youth, before the age of 25."

"You just need to register, and take the national unified college entrance exam at the scheduled time."

"After the exam results are out, you can fill in your applications based on your scores and the enrollment plan. There are just some limitations on the applications, but these are mostly for military, police academies, or government-funded teaching colleges which restrict recent graduates from applying."

Pausing a bit, Li Younan said, "Actually it’s just making a normal college entrance exam... just changing your identity really."

Hope sparkled in Liu Li’s eyes: "Li Younan, is your university hard to get into?"

"I won’t be able to get in?"
