■ Findings
As a result of the brief analysis of the Demon Beast collected this time, the skeleton is slightly similar to Troll or Auger, but there are many differences from existing Demon Beasts (see Attachments), such as the number of fingers in body tissue, both hands and feet, and the outlet of "breath", and the possibility of being an unknown Demon Beast cannot be denied. Further analysis is required to reach a determination.
In mid-November, the remnants found in the village of Asher in the Violette region matched the body tissue composition and foot shape. It is determined to be the same individual as the beast that existed in the area from late October to late November.
It is also presumed that the footprints and hairs found in the Fibrian and Esterval Tornose regions in the past 20 years are extremely similar to the beasts collected this time, and this beast or approximate species is bred in the region.
■ Notes
There are reports of smiles and thoughtful emotional manifestations showing behavior. Since the discoverer's adventurer parties were all highly ranked and trustworthy, as well as testimonies from three of his companions (two below the Count of Rovnell), the credibility of the witness information is likely to be high. The likelihood of having a high sensitivity close to mankind...
"... please, my lord."
Looking through the report with a sharp expression, Burchristfel Osburg raised his face while rubbing his eyebrows against the secretary's voice.
"If the report is true, we need to figure out what to do immediately. The Phantom Beast existed..."
That's why the specimen was sent to the bioengineering lab. The report was sent to the Esterval Border Guard, the Royal Knights Headquarters, and the King.
― ― Although it is claimed to exist in witness testimony and rumours, it is a general term of the beast, Phantom Beast, which is defined as an organism whose existence has not been confirmed.
One of them is the snowman (Sne Troll).
--A thick wooden door was shattered with a single blow. The sturdy farming horse was easily held up and his spine was crushed and broken. The existence of this phantom beast was suggested by numerous horrific witness testimonies and legends, including the penetration of the giant Snow Bear with a knife.
Until now, it had been cleared up as a mere misconception and yota story because the living figure and remains could not be ascertained, but perhaps because no one had survived encountering it at close range. In fact, there have been several missing persons in areas where snowman sightings have been repeated in recent years. Some of them showed signs of being attacked by a large Demon Beast at a place they thought they had lost sight of. The area was thought to have been attacked due to the large number of snow bears in Japan.
(If you're really intelligent... you might be able to cover up the body)
I don't think all the missing people were attacked by this phantom beast, but I can't imagine the possibility.
"What have you seen of the Phantom Beast?"
"Here."
It appears that the documents were compiled by a competent secretary without instruction. Documents and maps of the territory spread quickly over the desk. The map was marked dozens of places, and they were color-coded for each type of phantom beast.
"We have transcribed all the phantom beast sightings in our records. Of these, what I think is a snowman is written in blue."
"... I see."
More than 90% of the blue marks shown by the secretary are concentrated in the Silvería, Violette and Fibria regions mentioned in the report. They are all in the Silverian forest and the area around the Fibrian native forest that faces the forest between the Taube hills.
"So this beast, who thinks he's a snowman, could be living in the territory, at least around the Taube hills."
"That's how it will be. Only in this area were any artifacts found."
"... I would like to send a large investigation team without the Empire... but if we don't have enough men to do it, we'll have to reward the extermination method and strengthen our vigilance. Find out what's going on, assemble an elite team, and have them investigate the area. But...."
He glanced at the material at hand and then looked at the secretary and smiled bitterly from both sides.
"Is this... sinking in the water really effective? If it's as described, the temperature of the bath is sufficient."
"Ha, well, that's... I have to trust the report."
According to the attachment, special fur and thick subcutaneous fat are extremely thermal and magical resistant, and can act agile even under low temperatures. On the other hand, it was extremely weak to high temperatures, and it was estimated that life support function decreased from around 15 degrees, leading to cardiac arrest at 30 degrees or more. There are also statements that parts of the organs and brain of the recovered remains were degraded by heat.
The magic may not work, but it can be easily killed if the ambient temperature is raised.
The adventurer noticed his weakness during the battle, causing him to fall into a pit filled with hot water and inducing heat stroke symptoms. There is no way to verify the fact that there is only one case, but there is no other way than to deal with it as it is.
"... speaking of the adventurers of the Tris branch..."
The secretary called it a sleigh.
"There was a strange report from the Knights the other month. I wonder if they sank a swarm of big spiders in soapy water and wiped them out."
The Knights reported that this was definitely an effective means. I used this technique to exterminate several large spiders during the trial, which proved to be extremely effective.
"Ah... there it is, if you say so."
Christopher inadvertently made a subtle laugh.
Neither this time nor in the case of the giant spider, the report had a familiar name.
Alec Dia. Theori Izumi.
(--His Highness and Heavenly Girl.....)
"Heavenly Woman" was under surveillance for a while. He said that he had contributed to the union (guild) several times with a wealth of knowledge and ideas, but I didn't think that he would be able to join the king's brother's name there.
In Blaisak's story, Brother Wang was sharing his thoughts with the Heavenly Girl and gradually healing the old wounds of his heart. The signs of wrapping up became softer. The last time I saw him, my old friend said so with joy.
(There's so much going on... finding a place to stay and spending some time in peace.)
The boy 18 years ago, whose brain had been badly injured, and the man who had a glimpse of a hard and steep expression appeared and disappeared in a few moments.
"... how would you like to contact the Adventurers Association (Alliance)? They decided to share limited information in Esterval territory to prevent further damage."
Raising his consciousness to the secretary's words, Christopher once again dropped his gaze on the map on the desk.
The Phantom Beast, which operated from the Violette region to the Sylveria region, was crushed. However, there are locations in the Fibrian region where sightings have been concentrated within the past five years. Is this a mistake?
"... we'll do the same. Disclose information only to adventurers of Class B or higher in your territory. Contact each branch. Oh, leave the map."
"I understand."
Quickly summarizing the documents on the desk, the secretary bows down.
After a long sigh, Christopher leaves his body on the back of the chair and rolls up the paperwork at hand. Then look at the map on the desk. Several points where sightings are regularly received.
"... the Fenryl of Mount Norsken - the Ice Snake Dragon of Dimma Ice Lake..."
At least in related institutions, the presence of the snowman is almost certain.
Then, other phantom beasts are also real, not misunderstood.
"... no way..."
A slurpy murmur.
On that page of the scrolled paperwork is depicted a phantom beast standing with a creepy smile.
