Samarrand's Battlefield ‘Third Way’ is the fiercest of the four battlefields owned by Samarrand.

The reason why it became the most fierce battlefield was simple.

As a human being, the largest grain cellar in Samarrand, Roscoe Plain, was directly behind it, so it was a must-defend area so that it could focus on farming, and the Orc side was home to the largest forest in the land of Orcs bordering Samarrand.

A few Orc colonies were settled due to the abundance of food, but the Humans were fortifying their defenses to prevent Orcs from entering the plains, so battles began frequently. Food and battlefield. The Orcs need both.

It turns out that more Orcs are gathering, more humans are replenishing their troops to stop the Orcs, more fierce battles are taking place, more Orcs are coming, more humans are replenishing their troops... and repeatedly, the largest battlefield in Samarrand is now 'Third Way’.

Krum Castle.

The ‘Third Way’ is not a battlefield for the Earl's deception, so the Earl has dispatched an army to defend it. The castle was built between the third road and Roscoe Plain by such a Samar Earl.

The Earl was thrilled to make Crohn Castle impenetrable and has never been breached by Orcs since its completion.

Kremlin not only acts as a defensive stronghold, but also as a military garrison responsible for supplies and deployment throughout the 'Third Way’ and as a command for deciding defense strategies.

Strategic Command located deep in Krum Castle. This is where all operations taking place on the 'Third Way’ are determined and executed. A number of officers surrounding the table with a detailed map of the entire 'third street’ in the middle of the room were having a strategy meeting.

While they were in the middle of a meeting, a soldier who came in from outside passed through the officers who were speaking to Baron Hemm at the top of the table.

“Reconnaissance report? ”

Baron Hehm asked the soldier. One soldier only comes to report directly to himself, ignoring the other officers. In a post that is wide open on the 'Third Way’, reconnaissance is reported only if there are any specifics.

Therefore, the fact that reconnaissance reports came meant observing the movement that changed the battlefield, made all reconnaissance reports directly reported to him. to make sure you don't miss any reports on important issues.

“Reconnaissance report from Outpost 8, 12 seconds. ”

“Twelve seconds south. ”

“Post 8 is located here. ”

One of the officers reached out to the map and pinpointed the exact location of post 12 seconds to 8. The officer pointed to the southern border quite far from the third road. The word 'third street’ does not only keep an eye on the ‘third street’. Orcs are fast, so it's often too late to deal with them when you find them around.

So, I carefully built the post so that there was no place to go far away from the ‘third road’. As a result, there are only 15 meadows that become the headquarters for commuting to the Sentry Post while the outpost stays. Each Sentry Post is responsible for 10 Sentries. Judging from the number of Sentries, there are 150.

“Report.”

The soldier who was waiting opened his mouth and began to report with Baron Hemm's permission.

“Moving to more than 500 Orc North, the herd leader is between 3.5 and 4. ”

“There are 500 Orcs between 3.5 and 4? That's unusual.”

A Great Warrior close to the Chief is usually a class 3.5. An ordinary Great Warrior is usually a Class 4 Great Warrior.

If you look at reports between 3.5 and 4, it means that it is small for 3.5 and large for 4. Orcs that determine the number of groups that lead naturally according to their abilities, it is right to lead around 2-300 Orcs with that grade.

“Maybe two hordes fought together and one horde died, or maybe the second big one inherited the horde recently. ”

“Most likely. ”

The officers agreed.

“What are you going to do? Soon the herd will be scattered to pieces. ”

“Hmm…”

The officer asked, and Baron Hemm was troubled.

Orcs follow their instincts, but their instincts are surprisingly accurate. ‘No Orcs get lost. There is a saying. It is widely said that one of the nobles who observes Orcs moving accurately toward the destination always moves in instinct instead of remembering the way, explains the Orc's instinct more accurately than thinking and moving in one word.

So is the relationship between the size of the herd and the strength of the herd leader. I don't know how to put it that way, but when the herd is stable, there is always an expression called "the force of the herd = the size of the herd." Of course, some don't. It's called "Packmaster Force > Packmaster Size." However, if the opposite is the 'power of the herd < the size of the herd', there are very few cases unless it is a very special case.

An Orc's instinct to hate being under a weak Captain. It is well guarded. So if there are 500 hordes led by 3.5-4 Orcs, they will soon be split into 2-300 hordes.

Unless, of course, "special occasions."

“There are also reports of anomalies. ”

“Something unusual?”

“Yes, they say the skin color of the herd is red. ”

“Red skin? That's a new one. You weren't doing any damage? ”

Some Orcs use their opponent's blood after battle.

“The skin color of the entire body was a certain red color. ”

“Hmmm... Then I'll have to make a decision under the assumption of a rare species. ”

If you decide that this is not a rare species right now and it is really rare, you may be accidentally harmed. Rare species are almost always more powerful than their own size.

“What would you do? ”

The officer asked again. It is not a rush. This is how things used to work around here. When something happened, I thought about it and took care of it right away.

“Promote and defeat the Packmaster's Power Rank to 3-3.5. ”

Baron Hehm has decided.

Determining a herd leader as rare and powerless grade 3-3.5 is equivalent to assuming that the herd leader is qualified to lead 500 Orcs and that the herd will remain united without splitting up.

In this case, the cohesion is getting stronger, so if you leave it alone, it can cause great damage. So I decided to defeat them. This is the basic strategy of 'Third Way’.

The basis of the 'Third Way’ vs. the oak strategy is to strike first before uniting.

In the beginning, I waited for Orcs to invade. Orcs used to come in bulk. Several times, more than 10,000 people came in. Every time I did that, all the defenses on the 'Third Way’ were broken through, and I left Krum Castle as the last burrow. Thanks to its sturdy Croak Castle, it was able to stop them all, but the damage was not usually great.

After taking so much damage, the strategy was to stop the Orcs from attacking us on a massive scale.

“Is there a strike team nearby? ”

“There are 17 strikers and 22 strikers within a day. ”

“2,000... disease and composition? ”

“17 strikers are 200, 700 swordsmen, 100 crossbows, 22 strikers are 100, 700 swordsmen and 200 archers. ”

Whenever Baron Hehm asked, the officers who knew about it answered relentlessly. ‘Third Way’ is wide and has a lot to understand. Officers set their specialties so that no one knows them all, so they know exactly what they're doing. So, no matter what Baron Hemm asked, he was able to answer straight away.

“That's enough, right? ”

“Compared to other similar battles, you will win battles and cause 4-500 casualties. ”

An officer who compared similar examples of many battles that occurred on 'Third Street’ immediately responded.

“Four to 500...”

Compared to ordinary Orcs, which were usually exchanged for 3: 1, Baron Hemm frowned as if he didn't like it, even though it was a pretty good damage. The best thing for him is to exterminate the Orcs without a single casualty. Orcs keep appearing somewhere, but his army doesn't. It takes about a year and a lot of money to raise four to 500 skilled soldiers again.

“Are there any other troops around? ”

Baron Hehm should be able to reduce the damage to 2-300 if only one unit is left.

“There's a 37 Reserve Battalion three days away. The bottle and composition is 900 swordsmen and 100 archers. ”

“Well, in three days' time, the Orcs must have gone where they couldn't." ”

Once you enter a densely populated area of Orcs, you cannot attack. If the Strikers go and get caught by another horde of Orcs, they'll chase them to the end of hell.

“A couple of days ought to do it. Any other troops? ”

“........ ”

The officer who had answered Baron Hehm's question without hesitation was unable to answer anything this time. It means no.

“Not a chance. Destroy the Orc horde to the 17-22 strikers. First, send a messenger to instruct both units to move towards the Orc horde. We need to devise a detailed strategy before the strikers get close to the Orcs, so let's hurry. ”

The battalion is made up of all infantry units, which makes it slower to move. So I decided to put down the transfer order beforehand and pass on the detailed strategy later.

“Hmm. We'll have to cross here to get to the Orc Den. How about an ambush here? ”

“The area has a low hill to the left, and the other side...”

The detailed strategy was soon completed and was also delivered to the 17,22 strikers by a messenger on horseback.

The two strikers wait for the horde of Orcs with ambushes on the hill, as detailed in the strategy. And when the horde of Orcs, the horde of Gräkkar, entered the distance between the crossbows and the bows, the 17th Striking Captain silently called out a call and 100 crossbows and 200 archers who saw the call started firing.

* * *

“Ignore the leader of the pack! Fire at the Orcs behind you! ”

Crossbowmen and archers have not fired a single arrow or bolt at Gräkkar since they were instructed. Everyone knows that. Arrows and bolts are almost useless against Orcs as big as Graccar.

Like Wolfram to the south, the soldiers on 'Third Way’ know it's hard to deal with Orcs as big as Graccar. That's why a separate force has left the camp to deal with Gräkkar.

The commander of each of the units led a two-handed swordsman by ten. That is, two striking captains and 20 double-handed swordsmen.

The striking captain, who leads 1,000 soldiers, must be the one who receives the blessing of Molan. That's why two blessed men and 20 two-handed swordsmen took up arms against Gräkkar. Of course, even with the same blessing, the striking captain is much less than Wolfram.

But there are two and twenty swordsmen with them.

This much power is enough to capture a class 2.5 Woodlock. It is too much for the Gräkkar, which is rated 3-3.5, but only because Baron Hehm wrote down the exact number in his orders based on the least amount of damage required to capture the enemy.

And the total number of strikers against the group of Graccar who were defeated by Graccar was 280, 1,400 swordsmen, 100 crossbowmen, and 200 archers. The number of Orc warriors charging towards the horde was 511.

Both places are heavily tilted towards the human.
