Chapter 647: All Three Suffer, an Oriole in Waiting
At this critical moment, the Purple Demon revealed his vast combat experience.
“Little Divine Technique: Coiling Dragon!”
ROAR—
A piercing dragon’s roar echoed as a lifelike, colossal dragon made of glittering gold fragments materialized. It opened its gaping maw and charged straight for Niu Dazhuang.
Meanwhile, three specially refined arrows shot out from his sleeves like venomous snakes. Under his precise control, one flew toward Song Changsheng’s forehead, another toward his heart, and the third toward his Shenque.
Song Changsheng felt his scalp tingle. He twisted his body, dodging to the side with incredible speed.
But the three arrows, as if they had eyes of their own, swirled in mid-air and homed in on Song Changsheng, refusing to be shaken off.
“Little Divine Technique: Flowing Cloud Hand!”
Song Changsheng’s hands moved like a flowing tide, swatting all three arrows out of the air.
“Little Divine Technique: Thousand Army Break!”
ROAR—
Meanwhile, a sound like rolling thunder erupted from deep within Niu Dazhuang’s throat, seeming to shake the entire palace.
The golden dragon trembled violently amidst the soundwave as cracks spiderwebbed across its surface. Finally, it shattered with a deafening crash, like a piece of fine porcelain.
“Ugh… *cough, cough*… Damn, this old bastard’s power is really something else.”
Niu Dazhuang had put everything he had into that shout, and it had still only been barely enough to block the attack, leaving his throat raw and hoarse.
He turned to Song Changsheng. “You alright?”
Instead of answering, Song Changsheng beckoned with his hand, pulling one of the fallen arrows toward him. He glanced at the arrowhead and said, “Voodoo.”
“Voodoo?” Niu Dazhuang was aghast.
“I never expected to see such a malevolent poison in the Cultivation Realm,” Song Changsheng’s gaze darkened. “Purple Demon, who exactly are you?” Voodoo was a legacy of the Ancient Witch Race, who had made a brief but notorious appearance during the Ancient Era. It was an incredibly potent poison; once it entered the body, even a Purple Mansion Cultivator could only resist it for a quarter of an hour.
The Ancient Witch Race had been exterminated by a joint effort of the Human Race’s major powers precisely because they used Voodoo to plague the world. ‘To think that after so many years, this foul poison can still be found,’ Song Changsheng mused.
‘If I had been even the slightest bit careless just now,’ Song Changsheng thought, ‘I’d be dead already.’
“I’m more interested in who *you* are, that you can recognize Voodoo,” the Purple Demon said, his gaze toward Song Changsheng filled with disbelief and suspicion. “I have used this trick hundreds of times, and you are the first to identify it.”
‘Knowing about Voodoo isn’t unusual; it’s infamous, after all. But someone who can recognize it on sight is no ordinary person.’
‘Could they be disciples from some major sect?’ the Purple Demon wondered. Judging by their techniques, the possibility was extremely high.
‘If they were just a couple of Loose Cultivators, I could kill them without a second thought. But if they’re really disciples from a major sect out gaining experience, killing them would bring a world of trouble down on my head.’
‘But letting them go is out of the question. My identity has been exposed; they’d just bring trouble later.’
Faced with this dilemma, the Purple Demon hesitated for only a moment before making his decision. In truth, he had no other choice. From the moment they had attacked, there had only ever been one option.
“Die!”
The Purple Demon let out a cold shout as a Profound Bird Wooden Staff appeared in his hand. He took the initiative and charged at the pair.
The power unleashed by the clash of three Purple Mansion Cultivators was not to be underestimated. If not for the powerful Restrictions protecting it, the magnificent hall would have long since been torn to shreds.
Although the Purple Demon’s Mana was suppressed, allowing him to use only half his true strength, his vast combat experience and extraordinary Magical Treasure more than made up for it. Furthermore, his sinister Voodoo put Song Changsheng and Niu Dazhuang under immense pressure, forcing them to constantly be on their guard. As a result, the Purple Demon actually managed to gain the upper hand in the Magical Combat for a time.
But the Purple Demon felt no joy at this. ‘Am I, a great Late-stage Purple Mansion Cultivator, supposed to be proud of being evenly matched with two Early-stage Purple Mansion Cultivators?’
‘If word of this got out, I’d be a laughingstock.’
He could only blame that bizarre bracelet for weakening his power.
“Little Divine Technique: Mountain-Flipping Seal!”
BOOM—
When combined with the Five Elements Creation Seal, the Mountain-Flipping Seal’s power was so great that not even the Purple Demon dared to face it head-on. He executed a Body Technique to create distance as the Profound Bird Staff in his hand transformed into a streak of cyan light. It struck the center of the great seal, deftly neutralizing the blow.
But Niu Dazhuang’s attack came right on its heels, giving the Purple Demon no respite.
“Little Divine Technique: Celestial Phenomenon Seal!”
A bizarre celestial phenomenon materialized behind the Purple Demon, bearing down on Song Changsheng with crushing power. Song Changsheng’s eyes blazed with fury, and though he resisted with all his might, he was still sent flying, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
“Junior Brother! Damn it! Nine-Transformation Golden Body!” Seeing Song Changsheng injured, Niu Dazhuang decisively unleashed his War Body. His frame rapidly expanded to over ten feet tall, his entire being radiating a dazzling golden light.
After activating his War Body, his power surged to an unbelievable degree. He threw a punch, and the air itself shrieked with a sonic boom.
The punch shattered the Purple Demon’s Protective Celestial Spirit and sent him flying backward, where he crashed through three of the hall’s Golden Pillars.
THUD. THUD. THUD.
Niu Dazhuang strode heavily toward the Purple Demon, his thunderous steps making the entire palace tremble.
A chilling killing intent glinted in the Purple Demon’s eyes. Even after fighting for so long, the suppression on his power showed no signs of loosening. Against Niu Dazhuang with his War Body activated, he stood no chance of gaining an advantage.
‘At a time like this, I have to fight fire with fire!’
“Witch Ancestor, grant me strength!”
The Purple Demon let out a thunderous roar. His once-withered flesh suddenly swelled with power, and eerie, jet-black markings spread across his bronze skin.
His body rapidly expanded, soon matching Niu Dazhuang in height. His features twisted into a ferocious visage, and the dense network of black patterns covering his skin made him appear utterly monstrous.
