Lord of Perverted Ladies

Chapter 51 - 24 hours

The sound of rain continued long after I went to bed.

It wasn’t a violent storm. Just a steady rhythm against the window that somehow made the apartment feel even quieter. I lay awake for a while, staring at the ceiling, listening to the rain and replaying everything that had happened over the past few days.

The haunted toy factory.

The Fragment of Lust.

The Frankenstein Killings.

The strange dreams Noah had mentioned.

The mysterious third participant.

Every answer I found seemed to create two more questions.

Eventually, exhaustion won. My eyes closed before I even realized it.

...

The next morning arrived far too quickly.

The alarm buzzed at seven, followed almost immediately by another sound.

Buzz... Buzz... Buzz...

I reached for my phone without opening my eyes.

The group chat had exploded.

Ryan: IMPORTANT.

Ryan: Nobody panic.

Ryan: I found fake handcuffs.

Marcus: Do not buy them.

Ryan: Too late.

Daniel: He actually bought them.

Ethan: Please tell me they’re plastic.

Ryan: ...

Marcus: Ryan.

Ryan: They were on sale.

I sighed before I was fully awake.

"...Of course they were."

Another message appeared.

Noah: Bring them anyway.

Ryan replied almost instantly.

Ryan: I knew you’d understand me.

Noah: We’re using them as display props.

Ryan: Even better.

I locked the phone and sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.

Somehow, despite everything hanging over our heads, the group managed to make every morning feel normal.

After a quick shower and an even quicker breakfast, I left the apartment.

The rain had stopped sometime before dawn.

Everything outside looked freshly washed. Water still clung to tree branches lining the streets, and shallow puddles reflected the cloudy morning sky. Students hurried toward the academy carrying umbrellas they no longer needed.

The closer I got to the campus, the more obvious it became that today was different.

The exhibition was tomorrow.

Large banners hung from nearly every building.

Temporary signs directed visitors toward different club areas.

Maintenance workers were testing outdoor lighting while academy staff checked electrical cables running between booths.

Even security guards seemed more numerous than usual.

The academy had never looked this busy.

"Adrian!"

Ryan was already waiting near the front gate, balancing two cardboard boxes in one arm while somehow eating a meat bun with the other.

"...Morning."

Ryan swallowed before speaking.

"Guess what."

"You actually brought the handcuffs."

"I actually brought the handcuffs."

Marcus arrived just in time to hear that.

"I was hoping you’d forget."

"I never forget bargains."

Daniel laughed as he walked over carrying a long roll of yellow caution tape.

"The drama club gave us this."

Ryan looked impressed.

"That looks official."

"It literally says ’Drama Club Property’ every thirty centimeters."

"...Nobody has to know."

"They’ll definitely know."

Ethan joined us a few moments later with several printed clue sheets tucked neatly inside a folder.

"I finished the clue cards."

He handed them to Noah, who had appeared almost silently behind us.

Noah flipped through the pages one by one.

"These are good."

He looked at Ethan.

"Thanks."

Ethan smiled.

"Adrian’s descriptions made it easy."

I scratched the back of my neck.

"I only wrote the clues."

"You still did most of the work," Daniel said.

Ryan nodded.

"Exactly."

Marcus looked toward the academy building.

"We should get moving."

Noah checked his watch.

"We’ve got one day."

"Let’s make it count."

---

The Mystery Research Club looked completely different once we started working.

Yesterday it had still resembled an ordinary classroom.

Today...

It was beginning to resemble an investigation room.

The evidence board now covered one wall.

Red strings connected photographs, handwritten witness statements, and fake evidence bags.

Marcus arranged desks to create the illusion of a sealed crime scene.

Daniel carefully placed numbered evidence markers around the room before crouching down to adjust one by a few centimeters.

Ryan watched him.

"...You’re taking that very seriously."

Daniel didn’t even look up.

"If it’s crooked, it’ll bother me."

Ryan slowly nodded.

"...Fair."

Noah stood near the entrance with a clipboard.

"Let’s test the visitor route."

Everyone stopped what they were doing.

He pointed toward the doorway.

"Imagine you’re seeing the room for the first time."

Ryan immediately walked outside.

Three seconds later he dramatically burst back into the room.

"Oh my God!"

He pointed at the cardboard victim.

"He’s dead!"

Marcus stared at him.

"...Excellent observation."

"Thank you."

"What gave it away?"

"The outline."

"I was hoping it would be the body."

"There isn’t a body."

Ryan pointed confidently.

"Budget limitations."

Daniel had to bite his lip to stop laughing.

Noah made a small note on the clipboard.

"...Entrance works."

Ryan looked pleased with himself.

"I contributed."

"You accidentally did."

"I’ll take it."

The next several hours passed surprisingly quickly.

Each time we finished one section, someone noticed another small problem.

The evidence board needed another clue.

The timeline was too difficult to follow.

The suspect profiles were too wordy.

Ryan kept insisting the cardboard victim needed "more emotional presence."

Nobody knew what that meant.

At one point, Marcus caught Ryan trying to place sunglasses on the cardboard cutout.

"...Why?"

Ryan looked genuinely confused by the question.

"So he dies looking cool."

Marcus slowly removed the sunglasses.

"No."

"You people hate art."

"We hate your art."

"I accept that criticism."

Around midday, Professor Ellis stopped by the club room.

He looked around carefully, hands folded behind his back.

"I must say..."

"This is much more elaborate than I expected."

Ryan puffed out his chest.

"We’re professionals."

Marcus quietly muttered, "Please don’t believe him."

Professor Ellis chuckled.

"The room certainly feels immersive."

He walked over to the evidence board, studying it for nearly a minute.

"...Interesting."

He turned toward Noah.

"Did your members come up with all of this?"

"Yes."

"It was a group effort."

The professor nodded approvingly.

"I think visitors will enjoy this."

Ryan immediately whispered, "He likes us."

Daniel elbowed him.

"He can hear you."

"I know."

Professor Ellis smiled.

"Just remember one thing."

Everyone looked at him.

"The exhibition isn’t about having the biggest display."

"It’s about making people think."

Noah nodded.

"We understand."

"I’m glad."

The professor gave the room one last look before leaving.

Ryan waited until the door closed.

"...I think that went well."

Marcus agreed.

"It did."

Ethan looked around the finished room.

"We’re almost done."

Almost.

The word stayed with me.

Almost finished.

Almost exhibition day.

Almost zero on the countdown.

Without thinking, I glanced toward the corner of my vision.

The blue window appeared almost immediately.

______

Main Story Countdown

23 Hours 47 Minutes

Participant Activity:

______

Locked.

That was new.

"...System."

The others were busy talking.

No one noticed the window.

"What does ’locked’ mean?"

A response appeared beneath it.

______

[Response]

Primary event can no longer be avoided.

Only outcomes may change.

______

A cold feeling settled in my stomach.

So whatever was coming...

It was happening.

No matter what I did.

The only thing left was determining how it ended.

"Adrian?"

I blinked.

Noah was looking at me.

"You all right?"

"...Yeah."

"You looked distracted."

Ryan immediately joined the conversation.

"He does that."

Marcus nodded.

"He definitely does."

Daniel smiled.

"I think it’s becoming one of his habits."

I forced a small laugh.

"Maybe."

Noah watched me for another second before letting the subject drop.

"Let’s finish."

"We’re almost ready."

---

By late afternoon, the room was complete.

The desks had been arranged.

The clues placed.

The evidence board finalized.

Even Ryan admitted there was nothing left to add.

Which surprised everyone.

Including Ryan.

He looked around one last time before quietly saying,

"...This actually turned out pretty good."

Nobody argued.

For a few moments, the six of us simply stood there looking at everything we’d built together.

It wasn’t perfect.

Some clues were handwritten.

The furniture didn’t completely match.

Several decorations had obviously come from different clubs.

But somehow...

That made it feel more genuine.

Ryan finally broke the silence.

"So..."

"What do we do now?"

Noah smiled faintly.

"We go home."

"We get some rest."

"Tomorrow..."

He looked around at all of us.

"...Our club officially opens."

Everyone nodded.

As we switched off the lights and stepped into the hallway, I looked back through the doorway one final time.

The Mystery Research Club was ready.

The exhibition was ready.

The academy was ready.

Only one thing wasn’t.

Me.

Because somewhere inside the academy, another participant had already begun moving.

And in less than twenty-four hours...

Our stories were finally going to collide.
