Chapter 324 – The golem’s warning.
[Few moments later.]
"A distraction?" – asked the Wikan as he and his other two comrades were called over by Thauma.
{"Yes."} – replied Thauma by writing a message on the piece of paper through the messenger golem.
{"Honestly speaking, the entire situation with vampires looks too weird too me."}
{"It reminds me of the situation with wyverns and the terrorist known as Brutes."}
{"The wyverns were nothing more than distraction while the culprit focused on their own mission."}
{"It maybe just coincidence, but please relay my message to the emperor."}
"...Okay... I will." – replied Wikan as moments later he and his companions mounted their horses and drove off.
(Danger?) – thought the confused Wikan.
(The dungeon master is warning the empire about the danger?)
(Is he truly worried about the empire?) – thought Wikan as he and his companions returned back to their base inside of Mevon territory and used the emergency communication channel in order relay the dungeon master message as soon as possible.
"He is saying that the vampire attacks could be a distraction?" – asked Korwan who was the one that the Wikan and his group had contacted through the long-range communication device.
"Yes. This is what the dungeon master said." – said Wikan.
"He said that the situation reminds him a bit of the time with the wyvern attack and the terrorist attack."
"He also said this."
"For him, it seems that the timing was off, since the civil war in the Warmur kingdom is about to end."
"..."
"I see... Thank you for the information." – replied Wikan.
"Next time you meet Thauma, relay my thanks for him because of his concern towards us." – said Wikan before then ending the call.
"..."
"..."
[Several days later after the first princess made contact with Thauma and return to the empiric castle.]
"The dungeon master is worried about us?" – asked Korwan as he and the emperor Gustav were called by the first princess Endera Warmin.
"Yes. This is correct." – replied princess Endera.
"From what I’ve observed after talking with the dungeon master, it seems the golem Thauma is worried about our empire safety."
"If anything, he doesn’t want the empire to be destroyed."
"...I don’t get it... Why?" – asked the confused emperor.
"If I’m correct, he is worried about his future." – replied the princess.
"With us, he knows he can coexists."
"But what if the empire were to fall and somebody were to claim the dungeon for themselves?"
"They could either try to making the same deal with the dungeon."
"Or they may instead try to either enslave the dungeon."
"Or just straight up exterminate it out of fear."
"The dungeon master is worried about his future, and that is why he wants the empire to survive."
"Because if it does, then so does the dungeon."
"That is what I think that being is thinking."
"..."
"Hm... This is... Truly interesting piece of news." – said emperor Gustav.
"Yeah... And it more than one way." – said vampire Korwan.
"If the dungeon master is truly worried about future like this, then there is a high chance that Ariava may leave us alone after her part in the contract is done."
"!"
"Wait, you are telling me that the Witch Of Mad Lust will leave us alone?" – asked shocked emperor Gustav.
"I... I think so?" – replied the bit conflicted vampire.
"It would definitely explain why the contract was written that way and why he worries about the future." – said the princess.
"He doesn’t want us to have a ’forced’ relationship, but instead he wants us a true coexistence where we both benefit each other."
"He wants us to trust him while he also want to trust the empire."
"This is the conclusion I came to in the end myself."
[Back to the present.]
"..."
(The princess is probably right.) – thought Korwan as he sat in his secret office.
(The golem truly wishes for our safety, since if we were to be gone, then who knows what will happened to the dungeon?)
(He worries about the future and want us to survive.)
(And what he did just now proves even more that he is worried about us.)
(Still... A distraction?)
(And the off timing?)
(If the dungeon master wasn’t truly fully controlled by Ariava, then it confirms that the dungeon master is truly very intelligent.)
(But even if Ariava were to be truly controlling it, then I have even more reason to consider this worry.)
(Anyway, distraction and off timing?)
(I agree with the timing.)
(It is off to say the least.)
(But at the same, it is perfect.)
(They are attacking now before the vampire race become "friends" and "family".)
(They were even doing a prep work before by spreading the false rumors around in order to create their base... Which was instantly solidified the moment these vampires attacked.)
(As for the distraction....)
"..."
"Hm...."
(Their aim is clear.)
(Disturb the peace and make nobody trust each other in our empire.)
(Could that really be distraction?)
(It is obvious that the traditionalist faction is involved in this.)
(But I doubt they would act as somebody’s puppets...)
"..."
"Unless they got played."
"True... The attack could be used as distraction."
(It was loud as possible in order to spread the mistrust as quickly as possible.)
(It had straight up all of the people pay attention to these 3 attacks... There is a good chance that there will be even more attacks happening.)
(But something isn’t still adding up.)
(WE! Specifically Porai was the one that created that device in the first place.)
(They should possible expect her to create an anti-device for her own device, which would also counter their device and expose their hidden vampire forces.)
(They should expect the possibility that they have limited amount of time.)
(And the moment we hunt down these traditionalist and expose their corpses to the public, their plan will fail.)
(I’m also a DUKE vampire. I’m somewhat strong myself.)
"..."
"Still... Distraction...."
(If this truly is distraction by any chance, what else could they be aiming for?)
(I hold-)
"!?"
Korwan suddenly smashed his hands on top of his table.
"..."
"Motherfucker." – said Korwan as he stared at the table.
(I and few other high ranking vampires are holding our faction, the advancement vampire faction together.)
(The same goes for the emperor and the high ranking nobles of the council who knows the truth and are fully aware that we are friendly.)
(But what if they were taken down?)
(Then forget just our faction crumbling apart, the entire empire could face a crisis!)
"The only way to kill our faction right now is to just cut off the heads and deal devastating blow."
(And the traditionalists would be able to do that! Because they are too much of a prideful bastards!) – thought Korwan as he instantly started messing around with his long-range communication device.
(I need to warn the emperor!)
(THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT THEIR MAIN IS TRULY US!)
Few days later, an announcement was made in the Warmur kingdom.
About the victory of the rebel faction.
Execution of the noble faction as well as the royal faction.
And the crowning of the new king of the Warmur kingdom, Korial Richter, also known as Justice Of Warmur who led the rebellion.
The threat of the corrupted royal family and noble faction has been dealt with, resulting in the war against the Gorijy empire to never occur.
And with this out of the way, Ariava could finally report the success of her mission.
However... She also had questions of her own.
"So, do you mind explaining these few reports I’ve had been getting recently?" – asked Ariava as she was sitting on top of the royal castle and communicating with the emperor.
"What the hell is the deal regarding these vampires?"
"..."
"Well..." – the emperor began explaining in the details what exactly had happened recently.
"The traditionalist vampire faction... I’ve had few run ins with them, and I can tell you this." – said Ariava.
"They are truly scums that drags the vampire’s name in the mud."
"And they would be really willing to cause that kind of destruction just to ruin their own race’s name in order to fuck with you, which is stupid."
"They are these kind of retards."
"Yeah... We suspected as much that is truly their doing." – replied Korwan who was standing beside the emperor.
"However, there is a chance that there is more to it."
"Korwan... He suspects that the traditionalist vampires maybe aiming for me and him as well as other high-ranking positions of the empire, aiming to eliminate us all." – said the emperor.
"!"
"Assassination attempts?" – asked alarmed Ariava.
"Indeed... Honestly speaking, if it wasn’t for that dungeon master Thauma, I wouldn’t even had thought of that." – replied Korwan.
"?"
"What do you mean?" – asked Ariava.
"The dungeon master Thauma, he said that the whole situation seemed off to him, regarding the timing and it somewhat reminded him of the wyvern attack that the corrupted faction of the Warmur kingdom was behind."
"A distraction."
"And after thinking bit about it... It makes sense."
"The enemy goal may had been a distraction, while in reality they are truly aiming for our heads."
"..."
(Thauma... He warned them?) – thought surprised Ariava.
