Chapter 1275: Fight or Bicker?
Nicole followed Henry Brown and Leonel Thomas, drinking a cup of tea amicably. She spoke plainly, "What led to the conflict between you two today?"
Henry Brown and Leonel Thomas exchanged a glance, recalling Young Master Saxton’s inexplicable advice to ’buy time.’ After exchanging looks, Henry Brown spoke up,
"I’ve had a feud with Leonel Thomas for nearly five centuries! Miss Seys, you should arbitrate for us today! That Leonel Thomas, managing his KTV, always stretches his hand towards my bar! Stealing my customer resources, isn’t it infuriating?"
Leonel Thomas raised his eyelids with a mocking smile, disdainfully saying, "As if you haven’t stolen my customers! The hostesses at your place, flaunting their charms to attract customers, nearly twisted their waists off in the alley behind my KTV, can you claim that isn’t resource stealing?"
"The singing girls from your KTV also say my bar is terrible, can you say you aren’t badmouthing me?"
"It’s just competitive tactics — having been in business for so long, will you tell me you’ve never used them?"
"That’s called cutthroat! Oh, Leonel Thomas, you sure have some nerve! If I don’t crush you, I’ll consider myself gutless!"
The two continued to argue back and forth, and Nicole’s face grew stern as she listened. Her peripheral vision caught a glimpse of Luke Redwood and the others’ expressions, seeing they weren’t good either, she softly interjected, "How about this, I help you resolve the issue with these women, lock them up, and you’ll both be at ease."
Given her police leadership status, is it really appropriate for Henry Brown and Leonel Thomas to discuss hostesses in front of her?!
She wanted to smash them with her teacup, lock these people up, alright?!
"Please, no! Sis— no, Miss Seys! When I referred to Leonel Thomas’s singing girls, it’s purely about them singing to entertain, with no other implications! I’m just a rough person who doesn’t know how to phrase things, leading to your misunderstanding. Please don’t lock them up," Henry Brown immediately replied with a forced smile.
Leonel Thomas hurriedly chimed in, "Exactly! When I referred to the hostesses at his place, it’s purely about them sitting by the bar, just drinking, being the kind of sultry women who can flirt by merely sitting there! No other implications! It’s like, playing the pipa half-hidden behind a veil — such women can engage hearts effortlessly by ordering a drink at the bar, it’s also a clever marketing tactic! I meant nothing more, just women sitting at the bar drinking!"
"..." Nicole could only describe the two men before her with one word.
Shameless—!!
"Are you really fighting over this?" Nicole looked at Henry Brown and Leonel Thomas.
Why does it feel like an elementary school fight?
Henry Brown and Leonel Thomas exchanged another glance.
Henry Brown: "Certainly not just that! I haven’t liked Leonel Thomas for several years now; he’s constantly targeting me, all because he’s afraid I’ll surpass him. Such petty mindedness!"
Leonel Thomas sneered, "You’ve already been surpassed by me in status, talking like this doesn’t scare your tongue getting twisted?"
Nicole fiddled with her teacup, "When did your grievances start accumulating?"
"We’d have to trace it back seven or eight years ago! We were still brothers back then, fiercely on the grind together. That time, Leonel Thomas and I..."
-
Thus, Nicole sat between the two, listening as Henry Brown and Leonel Thomas recounted grievances dating back seven or eight years to the present, detail after detail, big and small, for a long time.
Long enough that Nicole, surrounded by a crowd, her forehead gleaming, finished a pot of tea while the two kept babbling.
Nicole internally cursed the two, utterly disdaining Jose Floyd’s choice of second-in-command!
