Chapter 1329: The Ex-Boyfriend Became the Son-in-Law
Stuart Floyd walked ahead, catching a glimpse of the two people walking behind him out of the corner of his eye, his gaze softened with a smile.
The three entered the house just as Celine Sutton came out of the kitchen with a tray of fruit. She paused when she saw the man holding Nicole’s wrist behind Stuart Floyd, "And this is?"
Stuart Floyd replied with a smile, "This is Nicole’s boyfriend."
Nicole: "...."
Clearly an ex-boyfriend!
Jose Floyd, in a good mood, nodded slightly towards Celine Sutton, exuding an air of nobility in his every gesture.
Celine Sutton invited Jose Floyd to sit on the sofa, offering him some freshly washed fruit.
With a cold expression, Jose Floyd’s indifferent eyes seemed somewhat familiar to Celine Sutton, leaving her momentarily distracted.
The four sat on the sofa together. Not only was Celine Sutton lost in thought observing Jose Floyd, but even Stuart Floyd watched Jose Floyd with a meaningful gaze.
Nicole picked an orange to peel and eat. Celine Sutton, catching Jose Floyd’s unexpected glance back at her, quickly diverted her eyes to Nicole, smiling as she said, "Nicole, it seems your boyfriend is still a bit reserved and might feel a bit uneasy in our home. Why don’t you offer him some fruit? And this... gentleman... no, we can’t just call him a gentleman. Nicole is our goddaughter, so that makes you our son-in-law. As our son-in-law, you should feel relaxed and at ease. There’s no need to be too formal. Both Nicole’s godfather and I are very easygoing people."

As Nicole finished eating her orange, she found it tasted quite nice, so she peeled another one. Given that her godparents were watching, she felt too embarrassed to refuse when they asked her to offer Jose Floyd some fruit. From what she knew, Jose Floyd didn’t particularly like fruits...

Before she could finish saying "eat it," the peeled orange in her hand was snatched away.

She had only asked out of politeness, yet Jose Floyd actually took it without any hesitation.
Jose Floyd glanced at Nicole, who was staring at him, with a cold look in his eyes, yet his lips involuntarily curved upward slightly. He split the orange in his hand in half, handing one half to Nicole with a soft voice, "Don’t eat too many oranges at night, it can cause heartburn and make sleeping uncomfortable."
The Floyd couple watched the pair with smiles, and Nicole accepted the orange from Jose Floyd, albeit awkwardly. The couple’s smiles and gaze were so obviously filled with ambiguity that it was hard to avoid misunderstandings regarding her and Jose Floyd’s relationship, especially given Jose Floyd’s actions.
Celine Sutton looked at them, teasing in a gentle voice, "Nicole, I thought your boyfriend didn’t treat you well, which is why you two broke up... But now I see I’ve misunderstood. Nicole, your boyfriend treats you quite well. And this son-in-law, as long as you treat Nicole well, we’re very happy. Although we’re not Nicole’s biological parents, we feel a deep connection with her and have long considered her as our own child. If you can take good care of Nicole, that would be wonderful. Seeing you two happy makes us feel reassured."
Stuart Floyd eyed the two of them, his gaze mostly on Jose Floyd with extra warmth and an indescribable depth. "You should stay here a while longer, Nicole’s health needs attention. My wife is helping Nicole with her health treatments, so she will need to stay here for a while..."
