Nangong Yue parked the car in the parking lot, then turned to look at Gu Mian, "We’re here, let’s get out."

Are we there?

Gu Mian squinted slightly, still a bit in a daze, Nangong Yue had already gotten out of the car and walked around to help her open the door.

Gu Mian had no choice but to get out and looked up, the large characters for "Marriage Registration Office" at the Civil Affairs Bureau were strikingly bold and red.

"Let’s go." Nangong Yue extended his hand to her, but she hesitated to take it, merely nodding, "Let’s go."

Nangong Yue was not awkward at all, calmly withdrawing his hand, not minding.

There weren’t many people at the Civil Affairs Bureau, and upon entering, a staff member asked the two, "Are you here to apply for a marriage certificate?"

"Yes," Nangong Yue nodded.

"Then please come this way," the staff led them to queue at the registration counter.

Standing next to Nangong Yue, Gu Mian felt a bit embarrassed, as she noticed the couples registering were all lovingly intertwined with smiles of happiness on their faces. Only the two of them looked serious and stern, standing a little apart, not at all like a couple.

In fact, it seemed more like they were here to handle divorce rather than marriage procedures. Gu Mian daydreamed and couldn’t help but laugh to herself.

"What are you laughing at?" Nangong Yue asked.

"Oh, nothing," Gu Mian snapped back to reality.

"Let’s go, the queue is ready," Nangong Yue glanced at her.

"Huh, that’s it? We’re done?" Gu Mian widened her eyes.

"We’ve only lined up." Nangong Yue couldn’t help but smile wryly, "We still have to wait until our number is called to enter the registration room."

"Oh, oh," Gu Mian nodded, thinking to herself that even though she’s not the sharpest, she knows marriage involves photos!

There were only two couples ahead of them, and the marriage application process wasn’t complicated.

Soon it was their turn, Gu Mian suddenly exclaimed, "Oh no, I didn’t bring the household registration book, don’t we need it to get married?"

"Not needed," Nangong Yue smiled lightly at her, "I didn’t bring mine either, but I have a college classmate who manages things here, so I just gave him a heads up. We can use our IDs for the process."

Gu Mian blinked, really at a loss for words.

Soon, the staff called them in, routinely asking a few questions, then gave them an application form.

Nangong Yue swiftly opened his pen and started filling it out seriously, Gu Mian frowned.

But in the end, she gritted her teeth and filled in the application details, and after the worker entered it into the computer for review, it was time for photos.

Gu Mian finally realized that her appearance was indeed a bit untidy, at least her hair was still a mess.

She hurriedly asked the staff, "Do you have a comb here?"

"Yes," the staff nodded, pointing in a direction, "Look, there’s a comb and a mirror over there."

Gu Mian went over to check herself out; her hair was slightly messy, but it was okay, a quick comb would do.

Looking at herself in the mirror, her face flushed a bit, and she quickly lowered her head to find the comb.

But she found the comb was really dirty, probably due to shared use, it was too dirty to use, at least for her it was unusable.

Gu Mian couldn’t help but pout.

"What’s the matter?" Nangong Yue came up and asked.

"This comb is filthy," Gu Mian said disdainfully, puckering her lips, sneaking a glance at Nangong Yue in the mirror.

To be honest, with him standing next to her, to someone uninformed, they actually looked quite well-matched.

"If it’s too dirty, then don’t use it." Nangong Yue’s voice was gentle yet elegant, and he reached out to smooth her hair, looking carefully, "Let your hair down, I’ll help you fix it with my hands."
