Chapter 96: The Boardroom Purge (Part - 2)
"Is that so, Miao?" a deep, familiar voice asked lazily from the opposite end of the room.
Miao froze, his hand hovering over the back of his leather chair, as a cold spike of dread pierced his chest because he recognized that heavy, oppressive voice from the docks just fifteen minutes ago.
He slowly turned his head, his small eyes tracking past the horrified faces of his colleagues, until his gaze locked onto the man sitting casually in the Chairman’s seat.
Miao’s jaw unhinged and dropped to the floor, as all the blood drained from his face, leaving him looking like a fresh corpse.
The broke street rat he had just insulted, threatened, and laughed at was sitting at the head of the table, radiating the terrifying aura of a literal god holding the power of life and death over his entire career.
"Y-you..." Miao stammered pathetically, his knees knocking together, as his brain short-circuited under the massive, crushing weight of reality. "What are you doing in that chair?!"
"Manager Miao!" GM Bi roared, slamming his fist onto the table, his face twisted in pure, unadulterated fury as he realized his subordinate had just insulted the phantom billionaire. "Shut your mouth and bow your head! This is Mr. Rick Smith, the sole owner of Azure Harbor Marina!"
Miao let out a high-pitched, strangled squeak, as his legs gave out, causing him to collapse heavily onto his knees right on the boardroom carpet.
He had eyes but failed to see Mount Tai, as he had actively courted death by trying to bully the supreme boss of the entire commercial district just to score a cheap date with two plastic gold-diggers.
"Boss! I didn’t know!" Miao wept hysterically, crawling forward on his hands and knees, tears streaming down his sweaty face as he reached his hands out in a desperate plea for mercy. "I swear I was just trying to protect the company’s reputation! The girls were VIPs! I was doing my job!"
"Doing your job?" Rick sneered, his deadpan eyes locking onto the groveling trash. "General Manager Bi, let me tell you exactly how your Operations Manager protects the company’s reputation."
Bi Songjiang sat rigidly in his chair, listening intently as Rick exposed the filthy truth.
"Two girls slashed a custom leather seating arrangement and ruined a vintage bottle of wine, causing exactly fifty thousand dollars in damages," Rick stated coldly, laying out the facts like an executioner reading a death sentence. "And instead of charging their credit card on file, Miao here offered to write the entire debt off as standard wear and tear."
"All they had to do," Rick mocked, glaring down at the weeping manager, "was add his personal WeChat account and join him at a luxury hotel downtown tonight. He was actively embezzling fifty thousand dollars from this company to pay for his pathetic sex life."
The executives gasped in horror, looking at Miao with unfiltered disgust, while GM Bi’s face turned a violent shade of red.
"You corrupt piece of filth!" Bi shouted, pointing a shaking finger at Miao. "You used our multi-million dollar assets as a bargaining chip for prostitutes?!"
"No! He is lying!" Miao shrieked, grasping at straws as he realized his life was over. "It was a misunderstanding! I was going to file the invoice tomorrow! Please, Boss, I have a family to feed!"
Rick leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, as he delivered the final, lethal judgment without a single ounce of pity.
"You are fired, Miao," Rick declared ruthlessly, his voice ringing with undeniable authority. "You are stripped of your badge, your access codes, and your unvested stock options."
"But I am not letting you walk away with my money," Rick added, as a dark, villainous smile stretched across his jawline. "General Manager Bi, draft a formal corporate invoice for fifty thousand dollars and charge it directly to Miao’s personal bank account to cover the yacht repairs."
Miao gasped, clutching his chest as if he had been shot, since fifty thousand dollars would drain his entire life savings.
"You can’t do that!" Miao sobbed, pounding his fists against the carpet. "That will bankrupt me! I will lose my house!"

"If you fail to pay the invoice by tomorrow morning," Rick threatened, his eyes flashing with dangerous killing intent, "My lawyers will hand the security footage of your extortion attempt over to the police, and I will ensure you spend the next ten years rotting in a federal prison cell for corporate fraud."
Miao collapsed flat onto his stomach, weeping loudly into the carpet, his spirit broken into a million pieces as the immensity of heaven and earth finally crushed his arrogant delusion.
Rick waved his hand dismissively toward the heavy wooden doors.
"Security," Rick called out lazily.
Two massive, heavily built guards stationed outside the boardroom rushed in immediately, grabbing the weeping manager by his arms and hauling his limp body off the floor.
"Please! Give me another chance!" Miao wailed pathetically, as the guards dragged him backward out of the boardroom, showing zero mercy to the corrupt rat.
The heavy doors slammed shut, cutting off his pathetic screams, returning the boardroom to a dead, heavy silence.
Rick picked up a pen from the desk, casually twirling it between his fingers, as he looked around at the remaining executives, who were sweating profusely and refusing to make eye contact with him.
"Now that the trash has been taken out," Rick stated calmly, dropping the pen onto the table, "Let’s talk about how we are going to restructure this marina to support the Peninsula Hotel."
