Chapter 313: Chill BreakFast
After bathing with Serika, Jax tucked her back in bed to sleep for the rest of the morning while he headed out of the chamber to move throughout the Witch Dimension.
Unlike the structured rhythm of the Demon Capital, mornings here unfolded slowly, naturally, as though the entire world woke at its own pace.
Soft golden light spilled through endless canopies of shimmering leaves overhead.
The artificial stars that had illuminated the heavens through the night slowly dimmed into faint traces of silver hidden behind drifting clouds, while the first warmth of dawn settled peacefully across the dimension.
"Hah," Jax took a deep breath, inhaling that fresh air that gently moved through the flourishing fields that were as far as the eye could see.
Looking around, flower petals drifted lazily across stone pathways. Crystal-clear rivers shimmered beneath elegant white bridges, carrying glowing fish through waters so clear they reflected the sky like polished glass.
Jax walked quietly through one of the elevated forest pathways, hands resting loosely inside his coat pockets as a cool morning breeze shifted through his dark curls.
His golden eyes drifted upward briefly toward the heavens, pouring mana through his eyes as he noted that the celestial mana currents above were now flowing perfectly.
The last bit of worries he had finally vanished, as he confirmed everything was perfect.
The dimensional framework pulsed stronger than before, the repairs he had woven into reality continuing to reinforce themselves naturally. No fractures remained and there wasn’t any hidden interference he could sense.
Nobody would ever sneak into this dimension unnoticed again.
Jax smirked faintly to himself, "...Good luck trying."
The Church would eventually realize their siphoning operation had completely vanished. In fact, whoever was behind this operation had probably already noticed and was investigating why.
When they found out why, they were welcome to try something again. Jax almost hoped they would so he could crush them again.
His expression flattened slightly at the thought. Then he exhaled through his nose and let the irritation go, continuing to walk through the dimension, tracking Seraphina’s aura.
Her mana had become strangely distinct in an absurdly short amount of time. Soft like flowing water, bright around the edges and very loud emotionally.
Whenever she was excited, the fluctuations practically announced themselves. Since Jax couldn’t sense any fluctuations in her aura at the moment, that meant that she was asleep.
Jax followed it casually through winding pathways lined with flowering trees. Several witches he passed smiled warmly the moment they noticed him walking around.
"Good morning, Lord Jax."
"You’re up early."
"Sleep well?"
Jax nodded lightly as he continued walking, spotting the winking Witches as they spoke to him.
"Morning," he responded to them. Unlike yesterday’s celebration, the atmosphere now felt slower and softer.
Many witches lingered in gardens eating breakfast together, meanwhile others floated lazily through the air using magic while carrying tea.
A few sat beside rivers reading books beneath glowing trees, the dimension almost felt dreamlike during mornings.
Jax continued walking, following Seraphina’s aura until he finally spotted where she was located, stopping briefly to look at it.
"...Huh."
Nestled high within the branches of an enormous flowering tree stood what could only be described as a storybook treehouse. The treehouse was notably beautiful and elegant.
The witches had apparently built an entire elevated home overnight for Seraphina to stay in.
Soft vines wrapped around polished wooden railings. Flowers bloomed naturally through the structure itself. Tiny glowing lanterns drifted lazily beneath the overhanging branches.
Crystal wind chimes swayed gently in the breeze.
A rope bridge connected the treehouse to several surrounding platforms suspended among the trees.
Jax stared at it silently, "...They spoiled her already,"
He said, but he wasn’t surprised, as most of the witches collectively had exactly zero restraint when they liked someone, and they really liked Seraphina.
As he was walking, a faint smell of fresh fruit and sweet herbs drifted through the air, meaning it was breakfast.
Jax stepped onto the elevated pathway leading upward. The wooden platform barely made a sound beneath his feet.
As he approached, the soft sound of quiet laugher reached his ears.
Then finally, the treehouse interior came into view.
Several witches sat gathered around a large open breakfast table positioned near the edge overlooking the forests below.
Bowls of fruit salad rested across the table. Fresh breads, sweet teas, mana-infused juices, honey pastries.
All of which were light breakfast dishes. Everything looked simple compared to palace meals, but incredibly fresh.
Beautiful morning sunlight poured through the open structure while flowers drifted softly nearby, and near one side, Seraphina remained completely asleep.
She was curled up comfortably beneath a soft blanket atop a nest-like bed surrounded by pillows. Her purple hair spread messily around her face.
One arm loosely hugged an oversized plush creature someone had apparently given her.
Jax blinked once, "...They really went all in."
One nearby witch noticed him first and her expression immediately brightened, an excited expression flashing on her face as she looked at him
"Oh," She smiled warmly, "Good morning, Lord Jax."
The others turned quickly afterward.
"Morning."
"You found her."
"We figured she’d probably sleep forever after yesterday. She had a-lot of fun last night," The Witch said.
Jax glanced toward the still-sleeping princess, "...Looks like it."
One witch laughed softly, "She tried staying awake but failed pretty spectacularly,"
Another Witch nodded knowingly, "She wanted to wait for you."
That earned the faintest pause from him.
"...Again?"
"Yes."
Jax exhaled quietly.
"...Kid really commits."
A witch gestured lightly toward the table afterward.
"Breakfast?"
Jax looked between them.
Then shrugged lightly, "Sure." as there was no reason to refuse such an offer.
He moved toward the open seating area while the witches shifted slightly to make room. He sat down, and immediately, one witch passed him a bowl filled with fresh fruit salad.
Looking at the bowl, Jax spotted bright berries, mana fruits, and even crystal citrus, alongside some sweet river fruits native to the dimension.
Jax took a bite and paused briefly.
"...Good."
Several witches smiled proudly.
"Fresh this morning."
"Harvested at sunrise."
"Nothing processed."
Jax nodded once.
"Tastes better."
The witches talked about yesterday’s celebration and also still thanked him for helping restore the dimension, talking about how relieved everyone was now feeling that the issues were solved.
Eventually, one witch leaned slightly toward him.
"She really likes you."
Jax glanced sideways.
"...Who?"
Several witches collectively gave him a look and then pointed towards the sleeping Seraphina.
Jax looked back.
"...Yeah."
"She talks about you constantly."
Another smiled softly, "She feels safe."
That made Jax smile as he turned and looked at Seraphina again before continuing his delicious breakfast.
