01-10 Tax Collector Coming

It was October, when autumnal wheat began to bud.

"It's time to come."

Martha says it's pompous. I overheard that, Jen.

"What's coming?

He's a tax collector.

"Tax collector?

Oh, there are taxes in this world, too, Jen thinks. And imagined in the word tax collector is a fat, fat middle-aged man. Otherwise he's skinny and obsessed with gold, middle-aged.

Only once, a person from the tax office has also come to the Nido orphanage where Jen was. Well, I didn't hide anything or evade taxes, so I left right away.

"How long have you been taken?

Martha clenched her neck,

"Hmm, only last year with wheat..."

From Martha's story, about five tons and Jen understood. The consumption of this village ranges from about 10 to 15 tons per year, from 2 to 1 to 3 to 1, possibly lighter as a tax.

"Are you determined to be taxed?

That's what I hear.

"Yeah, looks like it's set around the number of doors."

This seems to be the case because it takes too much time to research and collect taxes on the harvest. In the Edo period, when the inspection site was conducted, this Law of Fixed Exemption was carried out only after the reform of enjoyment protection was carried out. This would be an ant because it would be difficult to budget if we tried to make tax revenues change depending on the harvest.

However, sometimes I can't pay for the murder, so at that time, I was able to have my taxes reduced.

"Find out if you can or can't pay, and come to decide next year's taxes."

"I see, so what do you carry?

"The tax collector will escort you to Toka Village. If we get to Toka Village, the state officials will come and pick us up."

Exactly. They don't seem to come to this neighborhood to pick up taxes.

"I see."

Here, Jen decided to ask the question he'd always thought.

"By the way, I've been thinking, is there any danger on the road that could take two or three days? Beasts and bandits."

"Bandits. Hey. I've never heard of this guy since I was born. Don't you know how much money you can make in such a despicable place?

"Well, that's true..."

"So, the beast, well, I'm leaving. Is it the wolves that are in danger? But these wolves are small, so unless they're attacked by a herd, there's no danger. Plus, I'm gonna put all the beast bells on it."

"Do you have such a thing?"

I thought I'd show you later because it might be a magic guide, Jen. Anyway, Jen knows because the bell of "Demon Exclusion" is not "Beast Exclusion".

Well, just to say the result, the bell in "Beast Exclusion" was a degraded version of the bell in "Demon Exclusion".

It was two days after that.

"Oh, we're finally here"

One traveler came to Kaina village. You look like a woman.

She puts a breastplate on her small body, lifts a shorter sword to her waist, and her appearance across the horse looks like an identifiable person. Yes, she was the tax collector in charge of this Kaina village.

Ask the villager who was there as he walked his horse in a pompous manner.

"Um, let me ask you something, this is Kaina Village, right?

"Yes, I do,"

It was Jen who answered. He was just on his way home from collecting natural rubber sap.

"Oh, good. I thought I'd gone to another village."

"Oh, uh, excuse me, but what about you? I'm Jin from this village."

Jen asked the woman, who was so impressed by all the tears on the horse.

"Oh, and excuse me. My name is Lisia, and I've been in charge of this Kaina village since this year."

Jen felt inside, the image of the tax collector making a noise and breaking down, but didn't even give it a bite,

"Oh, this is polite. Starting this year, you said. Then you will be guided to the land. Shall I show you to the village chief's house?

"Well, that's just fine. I'd love to!

Jen, who will do everything in his power. He stands first with a laugh and leads him to the village chief's house. The roads, Lisia asks.

"Oh, uh, wheat or something, how's it going this year?

"Uh, I'm going to go see the village chief. You should ask him."

"Damn, so is that."

Once again Jen looks at the woman on the horse. Small, child-faced. Bright brown hair with the same color eyes. I don't care how you look at it, you don't seem to have grown up.

"Um, Mr. Lisia, excuse me, how old are you?

"Uh, uh, Jaw, fifteen, it is! Oh, is that crazy?

Jen smiled bitterly,

"I don't know what's wrong with you, because you just looked unfamiliar"

"Ah, yes, because this was my first job in serving the kingdom!

"Is this your first job serving the kingdom? That's nervous. But you'd better pull some more shoulder strength."

"Yes, thank you..."

Chewed.

Jen had remembered that a child who had refrained from taking a high school exam in an orphanage had done a similar way of nervousness.

"Well, my house is a new nobleman, so I'm not used to it."

"New nobility? is it?"

Jen listens back to words she's unfamiliar with.

"Didn't you know? Because previous generations of kings have solemnly sanctioned the defective aristocracy, they have made wealthy civilians, or soldiers of merit, into quasi-barrows (baronets) and knights (litters) to make up for their vacancies."

"I've never heard that before"

"That's right, you can't tell a story like this in a castle."

I also wonder if I can peruse a man who doesn't know such a story, but Jen, who is not even going to say otherwise, is listening in silence. Thanks to this, Lisia's nervousness has been taken and the way she talks has become powerless.

"My father was set up by a knight (Ritter) for his work in a border dispute with countries in the south. My daughter, I do this job because if I do my best, I can be a knight."

"Oh, that's a lot of trouble"

Power is a lot of hassle, Jen who recognises it.

"Ah, this is the village chief's house."

While we were talking, we were getting to the village chief's house about the narrow village.

"Oh, thank you, Mr. Ginn"

"No, then I'll do it."

So Jen went back to Martha's house, lowering a barrel containing natural rubber.

"I'm home."

"Welcome back, Jin. Are you snooping around again?

Hannah greeted her. Jen makes a lot out of rubber, so I'm looking forward to it. Because I also put rubber in my pants, it is easier to wear.

"Oh, welcome back, Gin"

Martha also welcomed him. Jen to that Martha,

"I just met with a tax collector and led him to the village chief's house"

That said, Martha put her neck around the

"Huh? That guy would know a lot about this village."

I said. I naturally thought Jen would say that,

"That's what makes me a new person this year. The next person was a 15-year-old girl. He said he was a new nobleman."

"Oh well. Then you can't."

On, and the hem of the jacket was pulled, so I saw Hannah with a slightly swollen face,

"One of them, a prick?

"Huh?"

"Are you there?

Jen was also anxious to answer this,

"Chi, no. Sure she was cute............!!

Hannah followed me.

"If anyone was in trouble, I'd have to help you, wouldn't I? So that's it."

"Yes, Hannah, if anyone's in trouble, I'll give you a hand."

and Martha also gave me a helpship, so I was just,

"I got help from Martha too, so I can stay here."

Hannah finally convinced me to let go.
