04-04 Golem Engine

Creating epic accessories, Jen rests often. There was still time at dusk but I was soaking in the bath and refreshing.

"Uh, when I'm doing this, I'm going to come up with a lot of ideas again"

Reiko watched over relaxing Jen on his side, leaking such a grunt.

What Jen wants to make now is a motor or engine that moves in rotation.

"If it's a way to row with my feet, I can make a rotating motion..."

At that time, a flash ran on Jen's head.

"That's right!

Fly out of the bath and hurry to the stripper. Reiko also held a bath towel for something and followed Jen in a hurry.

"Golem engine, is it"

"Oh. The point is, instead of the piston, you're gonna have to incorporate the same mechanism as the arms and legs of the golem to turn the crankshaft."

I'm not sure about the difference between a two-cycle engine and a four-cycle engine, Jen, but I know about the principle of turning an engine once.

"Why don't you start by prototyping with bronze"

Bronze is the most commonly used material because it is easily deformed by magic. Therefore, it is natural for Jen to think of making a prototype with this.

So the prototype of the golem engine was completed before dark, about fifty centimeters high.

"Okay, let's go for a test drive before dinner.... Startup!

The internal drive mechanism moves out and the crankshaft turns.

"Oh, I turned around"

Therefore, the rotational speed is increased by increasing the amount of magic poured into it.

"Hmm, I guess this is the limit"

Is it more or less 300 rpm in appearance? It would be difficult to increase the RPM any more because it is a procedure to hand turn the cranked handle.

"Reiko, can you hold this axis and stop it?

"Yes, I'll try"

Reiko first had a 5 percent output, gripping an axis about 2 cm in diameter. but although the rotation fell, there is no way to stop.

So the rotation stopped for the first time after raising the output to ten percent.

"All right, thank you, Reiko. That's a lot of torque. I'm starting to feel like automobiles can go directly."

Remaining is durable.

"Suppose you keep it at its highest spin and come over for supper? Reiko, I'm sorry, but I need you to see if you can't stop."

With that said, Jen headed to the 'Hall' where he began to call the house he had built outside. Soleil or Luna were on meal duty there on a daily basis.

"Soleil today? You're so used to it."

"Yes, Father."

What came out was wheat porridge and baked bread, plus tea. The tea is the leaves of the tea tree that Reiko sneaks to Kaina village in the middle of the night and has taken. I also plant seedlings, so I'll be able to drink them myself in a few years.

Eat wheat porridge, drink tea with a flavour you are used to drinking, and apply the mamalade made by simmering citran to the bread to eat. I recently found a grass that resembles a jam, so I think I can make jam.

Jen, concerned about the endurance results of the engine, rushed back to the lab after dinner.

"Ah, Father."

"What do you say?

"Yes, it's working fine"

Which one?

I try to touch the golem engine but it wasn't getting too hot. Naturally, there is no fever called a piston.

"Okay, let's try to stop it"

When Jen stops the engine, he hurries to disassemble it. Make sure there are no areas that have been damaged or worn out.

"Humph, as I thought, is the golem part hurting the most? You can make skeletons out of adamantite, and muscle tissue is made from magic fiber."

If Reiko's composition was the same, I thought it was for sure.

"All right, let's get to work then. Reiko, bring me the Adamantite."

Reiko asked for a heavy adamantite, and Jen went to get some magic fiber (magical fiber) and magic crystals (magic crystals) that she could hold.

"Done."

Late at night, the golem engine was completed. Made mostly of adamantite, the crankshaft is supported by ball bearings. Reinforce the golem.

This increased the torque to nearly three times the prototype. It is strong enough that Reiko can finally stop by raising the output up to 20 percent.

"Finally, we have to build gear."

That concludes the day's work.

The next day, Jen decided to seriously consider making gear for the suspension.

I've made it before, but when I meshed it, it was subtly stiff or rattled and useless.

Magic engineer Magicraft Jazz was also bad at it.

Magic engineer Magicraft Jazz's abilities seem to be like 3D drawing software. Basic shapes like spheres, circular plates, and cubes can be made by default and copied.

but there was no concept of gear, so once, unless you create a reference object, you can't seem to make the perfect one.

"Hmm, how do I make the mods exactly..."

Jen, contemplating, was roaring over breakfast. Reiko worried to see how it went.

"Father, don't stop thinking about it when you eat."

"Ah? Ah, oh. Right. Ok.... in short, the first thing to do is to divide the circumference into equal parts..."

"Father!

Ridiculous Reiko finally scolded Jen.

"... Reiko?

Surprised by Reiko's yelling, Jen stared at Reiko.

"Oh, oh..."

Reiko is surprised at herself for yelling at Jen.

"Also, sorry!

Who did you learn from, Reiko, who will be grounded?

"An unparalleled attitude towards your father. Please, punish me!

…………

Jen reaches for such a Reiko. Reiko who decides to be ready. If Jen had it in his hands now that he had done no defense or anything, he would instantly break it down.

But contrary to expectations, Jen's hand was gently stroking Reiko's head.

"Sorry, Reiko, let me worry. You're absolutely right. Keep it up. If I'm wrong, make it right."

"... Aren't you mad at me?

"Why should I be angry? Reiko thought of me and yelled at me."

So Jen flattened the rest of the breakfast while he tasted it.

Then Jen kept thinking about it all morning, but I can't think of a good idea.

And after lunch, Jen was having tea at the 'Hall'. The hot drink in his hand is cylindrical. I still think about the gear as I wriggle it with my hands.

"In short, they line up teeth the same size. I can make as many teeth as I want."

It would have been nice if the ball of the bearings had met the same weight and spherical condition, but in the case of gear it is fatal if it deviates at all.

Father, please don't push me.

Seeing Jen thinking and worrying like never before, Reiko seems worried too.

But Jen hears it in the sky above.

…………

Reiko realized that she could not stop Jen from thinking any way now, and rather thought that working with Jen would help her get Jen out of this state faster.

Therefore, using the engineering magic that can also be used for Reiko, the wooden plate in hand is processed in a circular form. I made some different diameters and put them in front of Jen.

"Hmm? What's this?

Jen looked up when she noticed it.

"I was hoping your father could help me think."

Jen taking it. Circular plates. Combined as this is, friction cars, say. To increase friction and prevent it from slipping, it is the gear (gear) that carved the teeth around it.

"First of all from the friction car, don't put slip-resistant materials around it..."

Jen suddenly flickered thinking that far.

"That's right! First, linear gear (gear)...... make a rack. Cut this with the number of teeth you need and round it up... I can do it!

"Your father?

"Oh, Reiko. I saw this disc you made for me and I thought of it. Thank God."

That's what Jen said. He stroked Reiko's head. Reiko narrows her eyes and looks very happy.

"Come on, now I think I can manage to make flat gear. As long as I can make flat gear, I feel like I can manage umbrella gear."

The point is that the circumference is divided equally, so if the reference can be made, it will not be easy, but it can be made.

Father, it's dinner time.

Reiko told me,

"Hmm? Oh, this is already the time"

Jen sees the little moon over the sky and knows it's already night.

"When I realized that, I was getting hungry."

Jen, who said so and stretched out, headed to the 'Hall' for a meal.

I was still thinking a lot about how to make gear after dinner, but it was late at night and I finally came up with a good way.

"So what if I go to bed? Good night, Reiko."

"Yes, Father. No rest."

I was relieved by Jen, who honestly laid on the floor, and I was delighted to be stroked by Jen again today.
