11-05 Border City

Toscotia is a city close to the Empire of Shouro, commonly known in the Kingdom of Serbia as the 'City of Borders'.

Because even though the Empire of Shouro and the Kingdom of Celluloa have long border lines, there is only one street that leads to the Empire of Shouro, and it is at its only entrance, so it leads in the city of the border.

Mountains lie north of Tuscotia, while the Great River separates the two countries to the south.

And the two countries each have a vast area, and they also have a common situation of small populations, and yet cultural differences also affect them, so that they were less enthusiastic about intercountry exchanges.

"Well, the previous emperor said," Well, there's been some change. "

Reinhardt explained that to Jen in a carriage bound for Toscotia.

"From the standpoint of being a diplomat, I'm afraid I can't tell you too much about the domestic situation."

"Hey, both of you, I see Toscotia."

Matheus' voice hung from outside the carriage.

"Oh well. You're new to gin, aren't you? You should take a look."

That's what Reinhardt told me, and Jen looked out the front window.

"Oh, wow"

Toscotia is a border city, so a fort for security is adjacent. But it looks more like a fort than that fort, should I say?

Little rocky mountains flourish where the mountains on the north side have become low towards the south. It was Toscotia who shredded and crept through its rocky mountains.

The fort, about a kilometre away from it, is a square exterior because it was normally made of a combination of stone and is a common fort, as it is everywhere.

But Toscotia is a little nowhere else to be seen. It has the appearance of turning down the Australian Uluru (Ayers Rock) and leaving its perimeter behind.

"I see, this is what makes you famous."

Jen was impressed with this too.

Eventually, the line slowed down and parked the carriage in the designated parking lot.

Get out of the carriage and you'll know more about the Toscotian beauty.

Jen picked up a piece of rock that rolled at his feet and made sure it was homogeneous to the rock that made the city.

"Sandstone, huh? It used to be the bottom of the ocean."

Reinhardt overheard the whine leaking out of his mouth.

"What? Jin, what did you just say?

"Huh? This used to be the bottom of the ocean."

"How do you know that just from a glance?

Reinhardt is in an exciting mood.

"Why, because this is sandstone. This is a rock made of sand heavily piled to the bottom of the sea. I'm impressed because it's on land like this."

That's what Jen said, pointing to the city of Toscotia.

"Look, that horizontal stripe. That's more proof than anything else."

Jen briefly explains.

Sand shall be transported from rivers, etc.

At that time, the accumulated debris, sand, mud, etc. vary depending on the weight, so that the debris can be deposited close to the shore and towards the bottom, and layers can be arranged sequentially in the order of sand and mud.

Land is not eternal, but higher or (protruding) lower (settling), etc.

Most importantly, it is a high school level geological knowledge and a story on Earth, so it is unclear if it can be applied to this world 100 percent.

"I see. Is that science, too?

"Oh, this is the field of 'geology' in science"

That's when Matheus opened his mouth, listening to Jen's explanation in silence until then.

"Lord Jin!

That was so loud that Reinhardt as well as Jen was surprised.

"Excellent! Lord Jin's explanation gave me answers to many years of questions!" Science "? Excellent academics!

"... Matheus?

Reinhardt had never seen Matheus so excited either.

"... No, I'm sorry. Reinhardt, I'm sorry I'm so excited."

That's what Matheus said when he regained his composure and put in an apology.

"But you wouldn't know, but this Matheus, when I was little, I wanted to be a scholar. Look, you've found stoned shellfish by Lake Tosmo. Ever since then, I couldn't wait to know how I could have made something like this, or if it was here. But no one around you could tell me."

Lake Tosmo is a huge lake by the home of Reinhardt and Matheus.

"Some say it's magically stoned shellfish, while others say it's stone-like shellfish. But neither of them seemed right to me."

"Is that a shellfish fossil?

Jen pinched his mouth from the side.

"Kaseki?... stoned, do you mean? So, after all, is it a magically stoned shellfish?

"No, you don't. That would be odd if there wasn't any shellfish left in it, wouldn't it? Didn't that stone shellfish have any contents?

"Yes, I sure am. From what I've seen, the contents of the shellfish were still stone"

Jen nodded after hearing it.

"Probably because the contents are soft, they've been replaced over the years"

"Long years. About a thousand years?

"No, tens of millions, maybe hundreds of millions of years"

When Jen said that, Reinhardt as well as Matheus were surprised.

"Oh, so much!

And Matheus, who is annoyed by his own words. Consider yourself reminded of your position, stretching your spine and coughing one.

"Kohon, I'd like to hear more about you, but let's go to the inn first. My men are supposed to be filing, so we should get them into the city right away."

With that said, he took the lead and headed to the city entrance.

Jen and Reinhardt (and Reiko, as well as Reinhardt's butlers and samurai) followed suit.

It is then.

"Aristocrats! I need a favor!

There was a man who was grounded, along with his voice.

(I knew there was a dungeon)

Jen, for example, was thinking of something out of the ordinary, but Reinhardt at the time when he was called "Nobleman" was eating.

Are you residents of the Shawulo Empire?

The custom of saying dugout, is not found in small groups of countries such as the Kingdom of Cellular, the Kingdom of Egerea, the Kingdom of Klein, the Kingdom of Franz and the Kingdom of Areas. It is the unique courtesy of the Empire of Shouro.

"Ha, yes! My name is Barlow, and this is Bale."

It was a boy who looked fourteen or five years old who named him Barlow. Behre was still just as much of a girl with her head bowed next to it.

"Me and Belle served the noblemen in Boloron, but the other day the nobleman was solemnly honored and lost his job."

Jen shrugged when she heard that. Perhaps it was one of the reforms put in place by the head of the Kingdom of Celluloa, in the context of the Unity Party (Unifiler).

But as a result, some lost their jobs. This is going to need to be dealt with properly by the archaic party (Nostalgia) through you, old man.

but now they are the two in front of me.

"I was a butler apprentice, and Bere was a samurai apprentice. So you can do most of the work! Please, take me to my country with you!

"Hmmm......"

Reinhardt is a difficult face.

"Gentlemen, do you have a clearance for the checkpoint? There isn't, is there?

That's more of a confirmation than a question.

"... Yes..."

Barlow, who had been looking up until then, also dropped.

"Again. So you wanted to go through the precinct as a nobleman's squire."

"So, but! Me and Belle are definitely from the Shawlo Empire! Even at home!

Barlow ate down with a face that seemed to convey desperation. But Reinhardt is calm.

"Where's my parents?

"It's Magilutz."

"Hmm, the town next to Climbhilde"

"Yes, no! No! It's a town north of Mont!

Then Reinhardt laughed. Apparently the question now was a catch. Further on, Reinhardt told Barlow,

"Right." Darkheim ist Darkheim. "

I said so. Jen didn't know what it was about for a moment.

"Yes, home is best"

And when he heard Barlow answer, he gave the impression that it would have been a word that any Shawulo imperial would have understood. (In fact, that was a saying like saying 'home is best')

"Hmm, there seems to be no doubt that you are from the Shauro Empire. But we're in a hurry to get home."

You can't eat a stall here until you get clearance for the two of us, Reinhardt replied.

"Oh, no! Please, I'll do anything! So!"

The moment Barlow said so, Baele, who kept her head down next door, scratched without a sound.
