Maou No Utsuwa

The Beginning of a New Life

She regained consciousness and was discharged two days later.

The pain of the wounds assaulted by my classmates had completely disappeared, and my tiredness had disappeared for a day, while I slept heavily in bed.

I thank the doctor and nurse who took care of me and I will be on my way home.

Somehow the feeling was clear. While in the hospital, the doctor and nurse were kind to me, so maybe it's because I haven't felt people's favor in a long time. They had a natural attitude because it was their job, but they were still happy.

Get to your home, avoid the main entrance and turn to the back door. It's just a short way from the back door. This is better to go back to your room without anyone seeing you.

I chose this because I didn't want to ruin the mood I was exalting, but apparently it ended in vain.

"You're back. She wants to talk to you from her husband. Please make your way to the main house immediately."

A servant was waiting at the entrance to the separation and told me about my grandfather's call.

"I just got discharged?

It's my husband's life.

The language is polite, but I have no sense of awe for myself in the attitude of the servant.

"Are you listening to something?

"Come on, I don't know. I did tell you."

Saying this, the servant just went back to his home.

I had no choice but to go into my room and get dressed. The clothes I was wearing were cleaned at the hospital for once, but after they were torn everywhere.

My grandfather is tough on his clothes. You don't have to bother to create a cause for anger. Even if it isn't, it's not about Locke anyway.

Family members never visited the hospital two days before regaining consciousness, and then two more days in the hospital.

The feeling I was exalting was completely chilled off, my body resurrected with no heart or tiredness, and I headed to the main house.

Go through the back entrance, close to the distance, to the reception room where my grandfather would be waiting. On the way, I met some servants, but there was no one to talk to.

"I'm Kamui. I heard you were calling."

Knock gently on the reception door to announce your arrival.

"Get in."

From inside, as usual, I could hear my grandfather looking grumpy.

When I opened the door and went inside, there was not only my grandfather, but also my uncle, who was supposed to be my next lord.

Since when have you met my uncle? It still doesn't seem to be a Loc story.

"Sit down."

My uncle, who was sitting opposite my grandfather, rises up and moves next to my grandfather. I lowered my hips to that empty place.

"I heard the story."

There were no words to work with, and my grandfather suddenly uttered these words.

I don't know what this is all about, but when I ask back, I know my anger will fly next.

"Yes."

"I hear you were abused in college."

"Where did you get that story?

"Nowhere and nothing! Aren't the Kingsguard Knights listening in the college! The story isn't just about the college, it's all over the royal palace!

I mean, not okay, but don't expose yourself to shame.

"Excuse me."

"It's a matter of apologizing! Look, my Honfleet family is a prestigious family that will lead to the royal family if we trace its ancestors! The Honfleet family had been abused at the academy and so on. She's embarrassed and can't even show her face in the palace!

My grandfather says this, but most of the leading aristocrats are connected to the royal family in some way. That is why he holds a high title. It's not like I'm bragging on purpose. But even if I'm wrong, I can't talk about this, so I have to ask a lot.

"Even though you're noble, you can't use magic on Locke, so you're exposing our family to shame. I didn't know that would paint more shame..."

"Excuse me."

"So I'm saying it's not a matter of making mistakes! In the first place, it was a mistake to recognize you as a member of the Honfleet family with a father you don't know from any horsebone! Why, this is what happened!? Why is my daughter's son so incompetent, even called the Resurrection of the Virgin of Light!? It's decided because of his father's blood! You weren't born with Honfleet blood, you were born with only the blood of an incompetent father!

And then again, the usual story begins. I don't even know who my father is. My mother never tried to uncover it.

All I know is that my mother was an excellent user of restorative magic, also known as light attribute magic and sacred magic, as much as she was called the return of the Virgin of Light, as my grandfather said.

That they bought that power and went missing while heading for the Demon King crusade with the brave men.

And then one day, when her mother came back to her parents' house, she had me.

My grandfather now says which horse bones, etc., but at first I wonder if they are the children of the brave, and I hear myself rejoicing.

As soon as I found out I couldn't use my magic on Locke, I started criticizing my father to give back my palm. My mother is rarely my grandfather's daughter. I never want to admit that my, the blood of the Honfleet family produced a fall like mine.

"Well, Father, we don't go ahead with all that talk"

My uncle spoke to my grandfather, who spoke out of dissatisfaction with himself and his father. I know it doesn't come from favor.

We're finally getting down to business.

"Right. I mean, I can't recognize you as a Honfleet person any more."

"... that is"

"An excuse! I won't allow you to name Honfleet in the future!

"... naturally, you mean leave the house, too, right?

"Naturally. Why should Non take care of others?"

Too much of a predictable development, rather than agitation, frightened me. Anyway, it's good to stay calm.

"Can I get my mother's artifact?

"That belongs to the Honfleet family. I can't give it to you."

Again, as expected. That's the answer I wanted.

"On the contrary, my father's artifact is mine, isn't it?

"Was there such a thing?

"Yes. I gave in when my mother died. It belongs to my father, so you can take it, right?

"Oh, that's okay."

"Father, wait a minute!

My uncle hastily stopped my agreed-upon grandfather.

"What?

"Let's check before we do. The father's artefacts and things. If it was my property..."

Arr, perhaps uncle, thinks of the possibility of being a possession of the brave. If it was the possession of a brave man, it must be of considerable value. My uncle's eyes, which speak to my grandfather, are ugly eyes completely drowned in greed.

"Oh, yeah."

"My father is not from Honfleet, is he? Why should I be able to examine my father's artifacts?

Accepting my uncle's story in person is not a good idea. You can't be thrown out without a sentence.

"That doesn't necessarily belong to the father, does it? That's what you said, and it's possible you're trying to disgrace Honfleet's property."

"So where's the guarantee that you won't lie? If it's really my father's artifact, but it belongs to Honfleet, it's possible you're lying, right?

"What!? Are you insulting Noon?

My grandfather has raised his anger as he fisted the table and slapped it more and more.

"No, we're just talking about possibilities. If you don't want to be insulted, tell me how you can prove it without it."

"Become!?

It seems surprising to me that I have normally argued that I have atrophied with this before.

"Please provide a satisfactory explanation"

This is where you can never pull off. I can put my gaze straight into my grandfather's eyes and put my strength into it.

"It's..., dude"

My grandfather, who had no idea, urged me to talk to my uncle.

"... no, hey"

My uncle can't think of anything right away either.

"Let's do this, then. You have an inventory of the property of the Honfleet family, right? Why don't you poke with that? If it's in the inventory, it belongs to the Honfleet family, or to my father."

"Hmm, I see. No, but..."

There's no way my father's artifacts are on the inventory. I may be able to prevent myself from lying and taking Honfleet's property, but I can't even take away my father's artifacts.

"... then let's do that. Let me check when you leave."

My uncle has agreed to think about it a little bit. But those eyes don't look very much like they've given up. How greedy is that?

"Now bring your inventory of property immediately"

"Huh?"

"No, if it's an allowance, I have to get out of here right away, right? Start checking right away."

"No, don't you have to be in such a hurry?

I'm still buying time. I guess I was even thinking of exploring the artefacts of my father that I have and adding them to my inventory of property. You are expected to do that.

"No, because I don't have time"

"Time?

"Yeah, it's gonna take a lot of time to poke the inventory and everything in the house, right?

"What's that supposed to mean?

"Didn't I just say that? The inventory says it belongs to the Honfleet family, otherwise it belongs to my father. You have to wash out everything that's not in the inventory."

"Such an unscrupulous!?

There is no reason to organize property inventories. All it says is, at best, really family heirlooms and stuff of high value like that. I know what I'm saying is impotent. Simply as a bargaining ingredient, I'm shaking it.

"But earlier, that's what I promised."

"You fool! What, the M.O. like that con man! You still..."

That's when my grandfather's anger stopped.

"I'm not a Honfleet person anymore. Even the nobles. It's not like you're being criticized."

"... stop"

"Yes? What did you just say?

"I don't need to poke the inventory or anything. Take your father's artifacts and whatever you do!

"No, let's poke each other"

"What..."

"That's what I promise to say. Will the nobles flip the foreword? And that's what it's like to be noble, isn't it? Come on, bring me the inventory."

"You…"

My grandfather, with his teeth crouched, speaks out to squeeze them out. This is where my battle depends on my life ahead of me. It would be a big mistake if you thought it would be that easy to pull back.

"... how much?

"What are you talking about?

"I'm asking you how much you want!

Nothing is more ridiculous than pride in nobility at all and so on. To protect such things, my grandfather, who is about to pay the price, looked like a fool.

"... is that good for you?

Even if my grandfather admits it, my uncle might try to cover it up again. I thought it would be better if you showed me your hand first, so I turned to my uncle and asked.

"... depends on the amount"

"So you can pay for it, right?

"Oh."

"Okay. Let's do this. It's not like I want money. What I'm looking for is a relic of my father and my mother. Why don't you hit me when I'm free to take what's away? You don't have to worry. I'm not taking the furniture with me."

Honestly, given the life ahead, it's not like I don't have the desire to rip the money off. But I couldn't bear to live the rest of my life with the Honfleet family's money.

In the end, I'm boring pride myself, maybe I'm in custody.

"Is that good?

"Apart from that, let's promise not to interfere with each other in any way in the future. That's my deal."

"It would be good. That's where we want it."

"So now. At least they offered me a place to sleep and a meal. I'll say thank you. Thank you so much for everything. And that's it."

I stood on the couch and headed for the exit.

Outside opened the door stood a former aunt, and cousins.

That attitude varies. He who is admiring hatred, who, as he fears slightly, avoids his gaze on the contrary. The colour of contempt is not there. Apparently he was listening outside to the conversation he was having with his grandfather.

Ignore those gazes and head to your own room away.

Somehow, things quickly changed. One day I was going to leave this house, unexpectedly, early. I have a little headache considering my life ahead of me, but it's reasonably good.

You have to live another way, because that's what I swore to you the other day.

◇ ◇ ◇

The Imperial Capital has an orphanage run by the Church.

Such facilities can be found in other cities, but whatever the size of the Imperial Capital. That's not a pleasure. That's why the Imperial Capital has children who have lost their parents and are in trouble with their lives.

And those who know that the Church is not necessarily doing it with good intentions.

One is popularity taking. It is a performance to inform people of the heart of the Church's mercy.

And at the price of providing a place to sleep and a crude meal, the orphanage mostly takes away the property of parents who have died from their children.

Orphans who don't have that kind of fortune, they either die wild in the middle of it, or live fishing for leftovers in the ghetto, keeping them out of orphanages.

The treatment of orphans also depends on the money.

I have a couple who visited such an orphanage. Two decent people who are never luxurious but don't think they are civilians.

Those two have eyes on the children playing in the square in the orphanage courtyard.

"There! Don't use magic on your own!

"Because."

"I know I'm happy to be able to use it, but magic can be dangerous, too. Besides, try to find the bishop. You're in a dining room or a cell."

"Hey."

"Then don't use it without my permission."

"Huh."

"Brother Kamui! Let's do this for a second!

"Oh, that's good. You worked out a little?

"Oh, I practiced what I was taught."

"All right, come on then"

A boy with a wooden stick turns to a boy called Kamui.

of the boy. That, for the child, was a sharp gesture inside, but the other boy gently scolded him and turned him back as he was. Pong slapped me in the head from behind and the battle was won.

"Well, this is..."

A man who is impressed to see it.

"Oh, how impressive were you?

"Sort of. It's a medium move for a child. But where did you learn to move like that?

"Right. That girl used magic."

"Oh, I saw it. If you don't forgive me, if you look at what I was saying, maybe a kid named Kamui taught you."

"I guess so. He also teaches swordsmanship."

"Right. I mean, that boy is the center..."

"Do you care?

"There's no reason not to care. I knew it was futile and I was going to come... How about you?

"I was wondering if I could talk to you."

"Right. Let's do that."

Two people happily off the scene, going back. We're headed to the bishop, the director of this orphanage. When I asked the bishop to see me, he was immediately put through to the room.

The bishop in the room was dressed in extravagant clothes that did not resemble an orphanage. They looked at it and looked at it, but there was no reason for them to come this far and go home without talking about it. I sat in my seat as recommended.

"Well, a sudden visit, what can I do for you?

"Yes, I am Kreutz, who has been entrusted by the Empire with border control."

"Well, are you the Count of the Borders?

"No, the title is Viscount"

"Are you a Viscount......, and are you entrusted with the Border Territory?

Border territory was originally the territory of a country annexed to the Empire. Normally, the royal family of the destroyed country is given the title of Count of the Frontier by the Empire to govern. I don't hear much about the Viscount ruling the border territory, etc.

"My territory is a little special. No one will receive the Count of the Frontier."

"Oh, is that so?"

Border territories where all royalties are gone, where resistance is intense when annexed, and which cannot be left to the very original royalty, may be ruled by other titles of nobility, not by the Earl of the Border. Still, it is unusual to be a Viscount, but the bishop interpreted it as a less-favoured land for the rest of the time.

"So what can I do for you today?

"Actually, I'm looking for an adopted child"

"Yes?"

"Me and my wife are not blessed with children, so I told them to adopt."

"I understand the circumstances, but do you want that adopted child here?

It is also natural for the bishop to be surprised. Adopted children to the aristocracy usually seek from other houses. If you are the second son, the third son, etc. and do not succeed your parents, there will be as many who wish to be adopted. My parents will be happy to adopt my children because their connections will spread.

It is arguably insane for people of civilian origin to come to most orphanages for the succession of the Viscount family.

"You should talk a little more. As a matter of fact, the territory I rule is the former demon kingdom."

"It's..."

"Did you understand the special nature of my territory? Neither have we been here since the beginning. I noticed and saw if anyone managed to come and adopt me as the son of another house, but there was no one to take it."

"Again, it's a tough place, isn't it?

"Yeah. It's even more desolate in the war where it was originally a poor land. Few inhabitants rebuild it. Even when it comes to aristocracy, life is tough. If you ask me to inherit such a troublesome territory, no one will take it inside."

"Excuse me, ma'am, but you also have the option of having a side chamber, don't you?

It is normal to have a side room to keep the family name. The Church also acknowledges as a matter of course.

"That's unacceptable to me"

"Really...... But is there anyone here who would succeed the Viscount?"

"Actually, by the time I got here, I saw a child I cared about"

"Oh, really? What's that like?

"It was called Kamui by other kids. I'd like to talk to him."

"Is it Kamui..."

Listening to Kamui's name, the bishop gave him such a convincing, then baffled, complex look.

"Is there a problem?

"Kamui came here and the sun is still shallow."

"You've always been close to the neighborhood, haven't you?

"Yeah, is that persona? You soon became like the leaders of the children. And Kamui originally came from nobility. Do you know the Honfleet family?

"It's prestigious. But why are you here? You don't mean orphans, do you?

"I hear you've made an allowance. Now Kamui is just a civilian who has nothing to do with the Honfleet family."

"... why, to make allowance, etc.?

It is not just a matter of forgiveness for children. For some reasons, the matter of adopted children will have to be reconsidered.

"That's the problem with Kamui. He can't use magic."

"Are you such an idiot? 'Cause he's other, uh, no."

Viscount Kreutz rushes to cage her mouth, remembering that the children keep their magic to themselves. But this is futile care.

"I know. You're teaching magic secretly, aren't you? No matter how harsh I say it, I won't listen."

"You disagree with the kids using magic, don't you?

"The power that passes destroys itself. They are orphans. In that one person, you have to go on with your life ahead. Should I say this, they have no allies to rely on?"

"Do you think they will use your powers?

"That's right. You should be recognized and valued for your power. But no one who brings the orphans to life like that. It falls to be used and disposable in a good way. I'd rather you live a plain but solid life than take such a risk. I think so."

"Oh, my God."

I was uncomfortable with the luxurious costume, but the words that came out of its mouth were extremely decent. With that surprise, Viscount Kreutz put it on the table.

"Is it surprising that I should say this?

"No, that's not true."

"It's good. You think so because you're a decent person."

"What do you mean?

"This costume is deliberate. The director of the orphanage has a luxurious outfit. If that makes you uncomfortable, he's a decent person."

"To confirm that?

"There's more. If you think I'm living a qualitative life, you'll pay more to the church."

"Isn't it the other way around?

"It is sadly so. I am nostalgic for the donations I have luxuriously collected. If that's what you think, you're not saying anything, even if it's a little low."

The surplus of donations collected at the orphanage is paid to the church. That is a strange story in itself.

It is the right way to be supported by an orphanage from a church. However, the fading faith of the people has led the donation to gather in orphanages and other ambulances that are actually helping needy people more than the church. At some point, the flow of gold has changed.

Moreover, donations made by the ambulance are eventually collected by the Pontifical Agency through several departments, but in the process many people miss it.

I can't blame others for what I'm doing. This is what the bishop is saying.

"Is that what's happening..."

"Corruption is not just going on in the country, it's going on in the church."

…………

The Bishop casually criticizes not only the Church, but even the Empire. In the Viscount's position, you can't agree to that inside.

"That's what you talked about. Kamui, but he was deprived of his aristocracy for not being able to use magic. He seemed pretty hard just to say he had no magic powers. Can that Kamui fulfill your adoptive sons, the same nobility?

"It's..."

"I don't think I have a problem"

On behalf of the bewildering Viscount Kreutz, until now, the Lady, listening quietly, opened her mouth.

"Why is that?

"Isn't he not without magic, but the way the magic is activated, a little different from people's? I think we can help him like that."

"Do you have magic?

"I think you're good at it. But there are people in our territory who are more familiar with magic than me. If it was her, I'd be able to teach him magic."

"Really?"

"Will you let me talk to him? I think if we talk about it, we'll know a little bit more."

"Okay. Let's call Kamui. Could you give me a moment?"

When the bishop rang the bell, a woman in white opened the door and came in.

"Are you calling?"

"Can you call Kamui here?

"Okay. I'll bring them right in."

At the direction of the bishop, the woman immediately went outside.

"You'll be here soon. Then I'll take my seat off with this. Call me back when you're done."

"Is it good? We can talk alone."

"I think that would be better. Kamui has a slightly different idea. You have to scold it in my position. Then you won't see what Kamui actually looks like."

"... ok. Then I will."

Dropping off the back of the bishop leaving the room, Viscount Kreutz remembered a little nervousness.

Just listening to the bishop, I found out that a boy named Kamui was not normal. Viscount Kreutz had no idea what to do with him and how to face him.
