Maou No Utsuwa

The Dark One, Part Two

'Kamui has the power to change a person's fate' is Otto's word when Kamui was still at the Royal College of Schutzleeren. As the saying goes, those around Kamui were to find themselves in a situation that they could not have imagined at that time. Even if it's because the world itself has changed, there's no doubt that Kamui was influencing it.

One of those people, Deefleet, was of different colors. Deefleet is also influenced by Kamui. Kamui is also involved in his rescue from the assassination and his assumption of the position of compiler of southern border territory.

He was recognised by Kamui as the vessel of kings, and in fact became king of the kingdom of Ericsson, as well as the ally of the Union of Kingdoms of Sidvest.

But among those affected by Kamui, among them those who could be considered allies, the only one who was not at all convinced of his predicament was Deefleet.

Not only that. The fact that Deefleet is said to be of a different colour among those who have become Kamui's allies is that Deefleet, once after meeting Kamui, did not think about getting under it.

Immediately after meeting him, he acknowledged the power of Kamui and Deefleet acted aggressively, wanting to make that power his own. Until now, it's just like the rest of us.

Even then, when the possibility of Princess Sophilia dying and becoming ruler of the Empire disappeared and she lost all her temper and was taken care of in Nortoende because of the further targeting of her life, Deefleet did not make the choice to be under the ministry of Kamui, hoping to be in a position of abandonment.

Deefleet, as most enemy allies were, had no fear of Kamui's power, no sense of fear, no admiration for it, no fascination.

Deefleet was always only looking down Kamui, at best in the same row, or from a third party diagonal position. In this respect, Deefleet may indeed have been the king's vessel. You don't look up to people.

Such a deefried, but consequently underrated history. That's why he had excellent abilities but couldn't leave results commensurate with it.

There are those who say that meeting Kamui, or Kamui's very existence, was unhappy for Deefreet. Some believe that Kamui has made a mistake by being credited with the king's vessel, etc., while others say that Kamui has gone the wrong way, which is disproportionate because of Kamui.

I can't say this is a full, bullshit evaluation. Without Kamui, it is possible that Deefleet would have become the emperor or deputy emperor of the Schutz Alten Empire. In that case, it might have been Deefleet who would have united the continent.

Naturally, there's absolutely no point in thinking about this' if '. Kamui Kreutz existed.

If Deefleet had the ambition to be the champion of the continent, it was not the Kingdom of Ruthua or the Empire, but one man named Kamui Kreutz who had to get over it.

And Deefreet Erickson was taking what seemed to be the action for it. In the end, Deefleet refused to be one of them, even if he was on his side.

In the southern western part of the continent, south of the territory of the Union of Kingdoms of Sidvest, there is a vast mountainous area, once said to have been the kingdom of the Dwarves. Mountain areas followed by rugged mountains with rough rocky skin. Sometimes it contains many active volcanoes, making it a barren area that never grows, such as trees.

It is such a dangerous and graceless place that no one lives there even after the Dwarves disappear from the world.

There are now about a thousand troops assembled in such a land. It is the Royal Ericsson Army led by Deefreet.

In this land where people do not live, why did Deefreet come with his troops, because people do not live, because this is the place, to meet those who live in settlements.

"... I didn't know you'd really show up"

"That's the dialogue here. I believed the rumors and it was worth the search."

Under the blue sky, only the chairs are facing each other side by side: Deefleet and the Beast tribe man. Deefreet had come this far to meet this beastly man.

It's Bacchus, head of the Ryan tribe.

A man of the Beast clan named him. He's a pretty big guy with yellow hair that looks like a bump. He has a wild look, but other than developed canine teeth, he's not that big of a difference in appearance from his people.

"Deefreet Erickson, representative of the Federation of Kingdoms of Sidvest. Thank you for having responded to this call."

This meeting was an offer from Deefleet's side.

In the southern mountainous areas there are demonic settlements. I sent people to rely solely on such rumors, to pinpoint their existence, and to seek negotiations.

This works and this conversation is held.

"I'm just here to talk to you. We haven't come to a conclusion yet."

"Yeah, I know. Thank you for coming here. It doesn't start with anything you don't want to talk about."

"So? What are you talking from?

"… check first. You are not affiliated with the Republic of Artenkreutz. Is there any mistake in this?

"Naturally."

The Ryan tribe is a tribe of beasts who do not follow Kamui. Deefreet has heard this beforehand and is here to see you.

"May I ask why?

In the knowledge of the Day Fleet, all demons should have to obey those chosen for the Devil's Sword. But this Ryan tribe is breaking that covenant. The reason for this, rather than the truth, Deefleet wants to be sure.

"What about the Devil's Sword?

"I know."

"So what about Ray?

"... Ray the Demon King. He was the owner of the Devil's Sword, wasn't he?

Deefleet, who lived in Nort Ende for a while, has some knowledge of the Devil's Sword. The extent of it is not such a story as to hide it even as a kamui.

"... that ray is a usurper. He took his throne from our ancestor, the Demon King."

"Ray the Demon King is the usurper?

Diefleet hasn't heard this story at all at Nort Ende.

"An otherworldly man named Ray used the Demon Clan to avenge himself. To obey the devil, he drove away our fathers, who were the devil kings, and put them on his throne."

"... so you're not willing to obey me whether I'm the one chosen by the Devil's Sword?

"Naturally. Why should I listen to the usurper?

"... So how come the demons who are now following?

If Ray the Demon King is the usurper, now I wonder why there are demons who obey.

"Those are the descendants of traitors. I don't know if I want to keep the true demon king or to greed him, but I betrayed him and gave him my hand."

"... is that what you mean"

If the story of Bacchus is true, there will be two factions of the Demon Nation. It is two factions: the Demon Clan, which served those whom Bacchus says are true Demon Kings, and the Demon Clan, which was attached to the Demon King Ray.

Which had justice has nothing to do with Deefleet.

"Neither Ray the Demon King nor the Demon Sword do we acknowledge. Naturally, I'm not part of the covenant."

"Are there other tribes like that?

The Ryans are not the only ones who were loyal to the true Demon King and to the end. Deefleet asked this, considering there were other possibilities.

"There is."

"Where do the other tribes live?

"... I don't know that. They kicked Nort Ende out a thousand years ago and scattered him. We managed to escape this far, but not until what happened to the other tribes."

Deefleet gets a little anxious about Bacchus' words that he hasn't looked into the other tribes at all.

This indicates that for a thousand years there has been little to no other land out there. Even if not, he may not have the ability to find out where the other tribes are.

"Can I look into that?

No need to hesitate on this occasion. Having properly identified the Ryan people's abilities, Deefreet must make a decision.

"... if they don't get in the way"

Bacchus' answer was conditional. This condition becomes quite problematic if you think of someone to get in the way of it.

"Is it hostile enough to be disturbed?

"The days of the usurper Ray should have been hostile to each other, but what about now that quite a few moments have passed... The messenger has come several times, so I don't think so, but he has refused the messenger's request many times."

Deefleet figured out that he was more right in his assumption that he was barely on any other land. The Ryans have not interacted with other tribes for thousands of years.

"Now the continent is taking the form of the Ruthua Empire ruling most of it, but its Ruthua Empire promises to give the Demons the same rights as the people"

"... such a story is incredible"

This does not mean because it is the Ryan tribe. Throughout their long history, demons and people have always been hostile. It is not easy for a demonic people to know the knowledge of past history until it is older than a human race, and then feel close for a long life, such as when a human race seeks reconciliation.

"Believe it or not, that's the kind of proclamation we have."

"... but"

"To be honest, I don't even know what's going to happen next. But now it is."

"... well. So you want us to follow you?

"It's not. I'm asking you if you want to join the Union."

This is what Deefleet is all about. We want to bring the Ryans into the Union of the Kingdom of Sidvest.

"... what is its purpose?

"Of course, I'm asking for your help."

"I guess."

Deefleet's answer was exactly what Bacchus had in mind. Other than that, I can't think of any reason.

"It is only the first tentative form of continental domination and so forth by the Ruthuan Empire. It will soon go bankrupt. We want the power to protect ourselves in the wars that eventually roll in."

This is a bit of a lie. Instead of protecting against the war, Deefleet wants the power to wreak the war and win it out there.

"Are they strong with the Ruthua Empire?

"Only the number. Total troop strength ranges from approximately 180,000 to 200,000. It's six to seven times our size. But if you interact with your allies' armies, the difference in power will be half of it."

"... you do have a lot of numbers"

The figure of 200,000 was unimaginable for Bacchus.

"We don't fight everything at once. 60,000 for many. If this is the case, it will be an almost equal number of fights."

This is the number on the assumption that only the forces of the Ruthua Empire and the Kingdom of Dia will be dealt with. Deefreet doesn't expect troops from other subordinate countries to join the war.

"I see. An equal number."

"Yes. Then individual strength says things. In that regard, the human race does not extend far to the devil tribe. You, the power of the Ryans will determine victory and defeat."

"Hmm..."

Bacchus also knows that Deefleet's words may contain a decoy. Still, I don't feel bad. The higher their rating, the more they can pull it out.

"What do we gain from joining our Union?

Bacchus decided to make sure exactly what that drawable was.

"Have a safe place to live. Prepare territory on the plains. It's small, but I'll give you the city too. The Ryans should build their country there."

"Territory..."

I don't know how big a territory it is, but if there's a city, it's a lot of land. Much better than I thought. Whatever you say, I haven't done anything yet.

"Build a country and have it join the Union of the Kingdom of Sidvest. And then you're on your own no matter what you do with that country. Of course, we may ask you to protect us."

"What is it about having it protected?

"Not to cause strife within the Union. Providing military capability. funding to operate that military capability. Well, as for the funds, suddenly you can't. For the moment, we will take the form of support from the Union."

"Hmm."

What Deefleet told us is simple and nothing that seems particularly problematic.

"The rest is a request."

"Request?"

Deefleet's bringing up new demands creates a slight vigilance for Bacchus. Even Bacchus, who has little experience in negotiating, knows that these conditions of post-release are in many cases the most important.

"In order to enrich the country, we need more people. How about calling in not only the Ryans, but also the demons scattered throughout the rest of the land?

As Bacchus thought, this is the most important thing for Deefleet. If the number of Demons increases, that's all the more military power. The Ryan tribe is expected to benefit from this.

"... you want me to live with other tribes?

The look on Bacchus's face when he heard about Deefleet makes him uncomfortable. This reaction was unexpected for Deefleet.

"Is there a problem?

"If you live in such an environment, there may come out those who pollute the blood"

"... dirty blood, is it?

It's a word Deefleet, who's not a Demon, doesn't understand.

"It is possible that those who perform blood mating with other people will come out"

"... is that the problem?

Deefleet lives in Nort Ende, which also only deals with a very small number of sociable tribes. I was not originally aware of the detention of pureblood held by the Demons.

"... don't people get it"

"Yes."

"If it means calling other tribes to this land, I want you to have another city ready. This is what they want."

"... I think a number of tribes lived together in Nort Ende?

When it comes to handing over the city for each tribe, I don't know how much territory it will give way to. Deefleet put Nort Ende out to pick up and thought about rejecting Bacchus' request.

"Say what. Each of them should be living in a city or a village."

"No, there were people from several tribes in the capital and in other cities,"

"... isn't that a workplace? What we're talking about is a place to live. You know what I mean when I say where women and children live?

Even a tribe with pure blood does not interact at all with those of other tribes. Otherwise, we cannot gather under the Demon King.

Bacchus is holding the women who give birth to them away from other tribes.

"... is that what this is all about"

Deefleet doesn't even know about the life of the demon clan in Nort Ende. I've never even been to the settlements of each tribe.

Some settlements embrace mixed blood, like the Beast tribe, and several tribes are symbiotic, but I didn't know that.

Fortunately, I don't know. Bacchus would have been drastically elevated if we had talked about the situation of the Beastman tribe in Northende. It makes sense that Ryan, the head of the same Beastman tribe, the Beastman tribe of Northende, is named Ryan. As its name suggests, Ryan is a Ryan tribe, one of those who curtails the Ryan tribe's currents on Ray the Demon King. For Bacchus, he is the descendant of one of the worst traitors.

"... for this, isn't it good after the other tribes decide to join?

There are restrictions on living conditions to protect pure blood. But Bacchus doesn't want this story to go bankrupt because of other tribes that don't even know it's coming yet. I thought about sending the problem ahead.

"Negotiate each time… can't you help it?"

Some tribes may not be bound to live alone. Even if not, it is not necessary to reach the city and may be fine on a village scale. With this in mind, Deefleet also decided to put a hold on the matter. If that's enough to be an obstacle to Ryan membership of the Union, that's better.

"Is there anything else?

Bacchus has asked if there are any other conditions for accepting the advance of the issue regarding the place of residence, considering that Deefleet has also accepted it.

"So far, that's about it. And you?"

"... not now"

"Can you then accept about the accession of the Union?

"... I will take the conclusions back and let them be discussed. When it comes to union with the kingdom of the people, it cannot be decided just in unison."

This is a little run for Bacchus. For a thousand years, the Ryans continued to live in desolate lands. The number of tribes is dwindling in their painful lives. So much so that I can feel the crisis that one day the Ryans will perish if the situation continues now.

This negotiation is coming out on this occasion because I thought it was a great opportunity to get out of the status quo. Besides, there is no reason to say no if you can even get the territory to the green land that left the mountains.

"Really? Then we await your answer."

"Oh. As soon as you decide, tell"

"Bye. This is it for today"

Standing up from the chair, Deefleet offered his hand. Bacchus also stood up and held that hand disappointingly.

In this Bacchus reaction, Deefleet was convinced of the Ryan people's accession to the coalition, but was missing the back of Bacchus leaving, not talking about anything in particular.

"... really with that other guy?

Carlos has spoken to Deefleet, with Bacchus pretty far away.

"What does that mean?

"As I was saying, the Ryans are enemies of the demons who follow Kamui. Even if the Kamuis don't think so, aren't the Ryans more hostile?

Gain the power of the Demon Clan. There is no point in turning another demon clan against the enemy for that reason. Well, the opponent is a demon who obeys Kamui.

"... he said something that seemed fine. Well, let's do some more research."

"How?

"What?"

Carlos did not flush the light answer of Deefleet. Carlos is not convinced of joining the Ryans right now.

"How do we find out about relationships from a thousand years ago to now, etc?

"You don't have to look that far. Besides, the Union will not be hostile to the Republic. It's a long way from home, and you don't get a chance to make contact."

"You're not going to tell him?

"You don't have to tell him, I'll find out soon enough."

Deefreet is well aware of the Republic's intelligence capabilities.

"Communicating yourself is different from being known by the wrong person"

"Carlos, you don't have to worry about the Republic that much. The Union has the Union, the Republic has the thoughts of the Republic. We each act on our own goals."

The Union of the Kingdom of Sidvest is not under the umbrella of the Republic. What Deefreet is saying is not a mistake.

I know that too, Carlos. I know, but I'm worried.

"Can we move a little more carefully?

"It's moving carefully. But I don't have time. Things move quickly. We need to be ready now so we don't panic then."

"... he says is the move really right"

"Now? You've convinced me of the Continental three-minute rule, haven't you?

"It... doesn't deny the measure"

Continental three-minute rule was launched by Deefleet as a way forward. The United Kingdom of Sidvest ruled the region except the northern West, the Artenkreutz Republic in the northern West and the central part of the continent, and the Ruthuan Empire in the eastern part of the continent.

It sounds like a big idea, but the point is I'm just trying to get back to the situation before the establishment of the Ruthua Empire. It is only the Union of the Kingdom of Sidvest that has replaced the Empire of Schutz Alten. That's the first step for Deefleet.

"To do this, we must push the Ruthua Empire out of the West. And promptly so as not to allow a counterattack."

The goal of the Union of Kingdoms of Sidvest is the territory of the Kingdom of Dia. Just get it and your initial goals will almost be achieved. The problem is to contain as much of the kingdom of Oppenheim as possible, the allies, and ultimately to put it under the umbrella of the Union.

All we have to do after that is prevent a counterattack from the Ruthuan Empire itself. However, Deefreet is trying to get the Republic or the Union of Central States to do this. That's why the continental centre thinks of it as the territory of the Republic.

"That would not be possible without the cooperation of the Republic"

Carlos also has a good understanding of the measures. We have to make the Republic, Kamui, care about that if we are to make it happen.

"You'll cooperate. There's no way Kamui is really accepting control of the Ruthua Empire."

"... even so"

Carlos swallowed the words that went on.

When Kamui cares about it, does it just end up fulfilling it and ruling the continental centre? Even if Kamui has no greed, will those around him forgive only that?

When Kamui and his companions' ambitions spread to continental domination, the Coalition for the Kingdom of Sidvest felt very unwilling to speak up about the question, with all the anxiety spread across Carlos' chest, considering what Deefleet was going to do.
