Dron’s fingers shook and he growled when it took him a few moments to swipe the icon.

He wasn’t moving fast enough.

"Tempest My temptation?" He spoke loudly completely ignoring the fact that he wasn’t alone.

There wasn’t a sound coming from the other end.

"Moon goddess, please. Tempest, can you hear me?" Dron called out again and started to pace back and forth.

"There may be a lag." Krex said from the side.

Dron forced himself to calm down. She was right there. She was on the other end of the line. "Tempest." He said softly.

"Dron? Oh god, Dron." Tempest croaked and he could hear the emotion in her voice. She was sobbing.

His heart ached in his chest. He wanted to run to her. Wanted to grab hold of her and just hold her until she was no longer upset.

"I’m here. I’m here, Temptation." He whispered.

Everyone must have realized that it was a private conversation because even though Dron refused to move from the space in fear that he would lose the connection with Tempest, the rest of his crew gathered up their captive and walked out of the small space.

He was alone with his mate.

"You have no idea what it feels like to hear your voice right now." Tempest said through the line. "I swear I thought I’d never hear it again."

"Sounds like you were lacking a little faith in me," Dron couldn’t help but smile. "I told you I’d come home to you."

"I know. I was inpatient." Tempest responded.

Dron thought about that, and the fact that Tine had told him that she was here in Skoq. "Where are you? I tried to call you at home, but there was no one there."

"I’m not home. I might have done something a little rash. Promise not to be too mad."

As if Dron could ever be too mad with Tempest. It didn’t matter what she did as long as she was still with him. As long as he could still hear her voice. All she had to do was exist and all was right in the world.

"I won’t be too mad, now tell me what you’ve done."

After that, Tempest regaled him on her journey. There were a couple of times in her story that she was a little vague. She was holding things back. He wasn’t sure if it was because she was around other people or because she just wasn’t ready to tell him the truth. Either way when he got to her he would ask her everything and he knew that she would tell him.

"Are you safe now? You said there were people after you before." There was a slight panic to Dron’s words. He didn’t know what part of Skoq she was in, but he knew that there were countless clans and other opposition on this island that would do anything in their power to get their hands on Tempest.

She wasn’t safe here, no matter who she was with.

"For now, yes I’m safe. Mexyn has some friends here that we are staying with for the night. Tomorrow we’ll continue with our journey."

"No, absolutely not. You don’t need to go any further." Dron spat out instantly.

"Dron, I didn’t come here for the sights. I came here for you. I’m not going to stop until I get to you."

"Tempest," he started and calmed his voice down again. The last thing he wanted to do was have an argument with her, "It’s a blessing and I’m so excited that you’ve come all this way to see me but this land is no place for you or probably anyone else. I have all the trust in the world that you will do everything in your power to get to me, but that’s what worries me. I don’t want you in harm’s way, and there’s no way you won’t be if you continue. I will find you. I’ll get to where you are, and I’ll find you."

"Dron, you don’t understand..."Her voice softened a little more, "I need you. I need you now."

It took him a few seconds to figure out what she was talking about. After a brief calculation in his head he realized that she wasn’t just saying she needed him because she wanted to be near him but that she was needy for him.

A deep primal urge surged within him. She was about to go into heat and he wasn’t there. The only alpha around her that he knew of was Rynax. There was no way he was entrusting that to him. He’d take advantage of her. She wouldn’t be able to control herself without any type of suppression tonic and he’ll do what alphas do. He’ll mate with her.

Dron growled deep in his chest. The need to get to her was stronger than it ever had been. Now that he knew she was so close, there was nothing that he could do to stop himself from getting to her.

Not the threat of Tine dying, or the burning embers of the small community he’d been staying in. Nothing was going to keep him from getting to Tempest.

"Don’t worry. I’ll be there. I’m coming, Tempest. Trust me." He said with all the determination in the world.

"Okay. Gerax is going to show me how to send you a location tracker so you know where I am. As long as I have my wrist device, you should be able to find me. Please hurry, Dron."

"I’m already on my way." Dron meant it. He was already thinking of the different ways he could finish up what he was doing here so he could leave.

There would be no sleep, no resting. Nothing until Tempest was back in his arms.

For a second he worried that this might be exactly what the rest of the Utex clan was waiting for. Once he and his crew left the settlement, they could come back and finish what they started.

Selfishly, Dron didn’t feel the need to stay.

"I’ll be waiting for you." Tempest said, and then the line went silent. She’d disconnected the call.

She was waiting for him.

That’s all he needed to know. Everything else was inconsequential. He’d bring down mountains to get to her. A little savage clan of weaker alpha definitely wasn’t about to stand in his way.
