Chapter 200: He Doesn’t Care
"Only bad for you, you mean!" Nathan Fawcett raised an eyebrow. "Charles Prescott, I’ve said my piece. I couldn’t care less what happens to the company!"
Charles Prescott said, "But you have to consider everyone else."
"And why should I?" Nathan Fawcett retorted. "Are you all that important to me? Why should I consider any of you?"
"..." Charles Prescott felt a surge of anger toward the man before him.
That’s right!
He doesn’t care!
Without the Fawcett Group, he’s still the Head of the Linden Family.
But what about them?
The Fawcett Group was their only hope.
Seeing Charles Prescott’s dark expression, Nathan Fawcett said, "If you really cared about the company, you’d figure out who its true master is! How did something that belonged to my father become the personal property of you and yours?"
"..." Charles Prescott wasn’t a fool. He could tell Ethan Linden was putting him in his place.
Nathan hadn’t found an opportunity before. But now that he had one, he certainly wouldn’t let them off the hook.
He had a nagging feeling that the moment something didn’t go his way, that guy Ethan Linden would be willing to take everyone down with him.
Charles Prescott had to admit it—he was genuinely afraid.
After all, the man with nothing to lose fears no one.
Ethan Linden didn’t care about the Fawcett Group’s future, but he did!
Only at the Fawcett Group could he find his own sense of worth.
Charles Prescott looked at Nathan Fawcett and asked, "Then what do you want? What will it take for you to consider the company’s well-being?"
Charles Prescott felt a wave of resignation, never having imagined he’d one day be reduced to coaxing Ethan Linden.
Nathan Fawcett replied calmly, "That depends on your performance."

Charles Prescott looked at Nathan Fawcett, then glanced at Anne Sutton before standing up and walking out the door.
Anne Sutton watched him go. She’d rarely seen Charles Prescott look so utterly defeated.
Her gaze fell upon Nathan Fawcett. "Do you really not care about the future of the Fawcett Group?" she asked.
"What is there to care about?" Nathan Fawcett said. "If I can’t control it, who cares if it’s destroyed?"
"..." Anne had to admit it. ’Nathan Fawcett has a truly terrible disposition!’
The Fawcett Group was the life’s work of his father and everyone else in the company.
They all cared deeply about the company’s future.
But Nathan Fawcett himself couldn’t care less.
In his fight for control, he didn’t care whether his methods would damage the company.
Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. "What, are you worried about the company’s future too?"
"I just think it’s your father’s life’s work," Anne said. ’The old chairman had been through so much.’
"But if I can’t take the company back," Nathan said, "if it remains in the hands of Charles Prescott and his father, do you think there’s any reason for it to exist at all?"
"..."
Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Fair enough."
’If that’s the case, then it really would be better if it ceased to exist.’

After leaving Nathan Fawcett, Charles Prescott walked to his car with Grace trailing behind him. He viciously kicked the car door. He didn’t know why—he was just furious.
’Judging by Ethan Linden’s attitude, it seems he really plans to take out my subordinates one by one...’
’And he doesn’t seem to care what happens to the company in the process.’
Grace looked at Charles Prescott and said, "President Prescott."
Charles Prescott glanced at her. "Tell me, isn’t he completely unreasonable? Yes! He was born with a silver spoon, destined from birth to be the heir of the Linden Family. The end of the Fawcett Group is nothing to him... But what about me? What the hell have I been working so hard for all these years?"
His background was no match for Ethan Linden’s, nor could it compare to Nathan Fawcett’s.
He came from nothing and had fought tooth and nail to get to where he was today. But now he had to constantly be wary of this time bomb, Ethan Linden, terrified that the moment he became displeased, he’d drag the whole company down with him.

Grace stood to the side, watching Charles Prescott, unsure of how to comfort him.
Charles Prescott got into the car, and Grace followed. "Go see Chairman Grant," Charles said.
Although Chairman Grant was on Ethan Linden’s side, he still cared a great deal about the company’s future.
That’s why he wanted to go talk to Chairman Grant.

After finishing their meal at home, Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett went to the hospital to see her mother.
When she and Nathan Fawcett entered the hospital room, they found Sharon Sutton and David Hayes were there as well.
David Hayes saw Anne Sutton and said, "Anne."
Then, when he saw Nathan Fawcett, he said nervously, "Mr. Linden."
’He never expected Ethan Linden to actually accompany Anne to the hospital to visit Mrs. Sutton.’
’It was obvious that Anne and Ethan Linden were on very good terms.’
David Hayes could once again see a glimmer of hope for his promotion at the Fawcett Group...
But when Mrs. Sutton saw Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett walk in, her expression stiffened.
She had been giving Anne the cold shoulder precisely because of Nathan Fawcett.
Seeing Nathan Fawcett and Anne still together now, her mood soured instantly.
Mrs. Sutton asked, "What are you two doing here?"
"I came to see you," Anne replied.
Mrs. Sutton’s gaze landed on Nathan Fawcett before she turned to Anne. "You don’t need to visit me. I’m doing just fine here in the hospital."
"..." Nathan Fawcett saw how Mrs. Sutton became even more displeased upon seeing him. "Hello, Mrs. Sutton," he said politely.
"Don’t," Mrs. Sutton said. "I’m not worthy of such courtesy."
She’d always hated "the other woman."
And now, after discovering that her own husband had a child with his mistress, she detested the fact that Anne was playing the same role.
Anne glanced at Sharon Sutton and David Hayes. "You two should go home for now. I can stay here with Mom."
Anne was originally supposed to be at work today.
But because she had hit Maya Evans the day before, the hospital director had given her two extra days off, which meant she could now stay and keep her mother company.
"But, Mom..." Sharon began, worriedly.
’She was terrified their mother would start a fight with Anne.’
"Don’t worry," Anne said. "It’ll be fine."
"Okay," Sharon said. "We’ll come back later then."
After saying this, she glanced at David Hayes. "Let’s head home for now."
David Hayes nodded and followed Sharon out the door.

Once they were outside, David Hayes looked at Sharon Sutton and said, "From the looks of it, Ethan Linden seems to treat your sister very well."
Sharon glanced at him. "He does. But Ethan Linden was engaged to Stella Shields before. That’s why Mom forbids them from being together."
"Why?" David asked. "So what if they were engaged? They never got married. If Ethan Linden wants to be with your sister now, that’s his prerogative, isn’t it?"
The thought that he and Sharon could benefit from Anne’s relationship with Ethan Linden filled David with anticipation.
Sharon glanced at him. "You seem pretty supportive of my sister."
"Well, your sister hasn’t had it easy," David said. "Wouldn’t you agree?"
Hearing this, Sharon smiled. "Oh, honey, you’re so thoughtful. Anne would be so happy to hear you say that."
"With the way things are in the family right now, it’s only right that we care about her," David said. "We’re all family, aren’t we?"
Sharon nodded. "Yes."
