Chapter 500 - 274: Gu Gaoxu Falls Unconscious at the Mansion Gate
Lu Yuan nodded and sent a telepathic message to the Old Turtle, "Senior, any of the shell plates from your body will do. They don’t have to be freshly shed."
"Why didn’t you say so sooner!" the relieved Old Turtle replied. It then shifted its body and gave a few vigorous shakes, causing the ground to tremble.
RATTLE~ RATTLE~
A huge pile of turtle shell plates fell in front of Lu Yuan. "Young man, you can have them all," the turtle said. "These are the plates I shed last time. They’re no use to me just sitting here."
’I’ve struck it rich!’ he thought as he spread his hands, sweeping the pile of shell plates into his System Space. ’With so many shell plates, I can refine countless Elixirs. And if I use Alchemy, I could craft these plates into a suit of Armor with a defense far stronger than the Golden Soft Armor.’
After collecting the shell plates, Lu Yuan bowed to the Old Turtle and sent a telepathic message, "Thank you for your generous gift, Senior!"
The Old Turtle spoke slowly, "I’m tired and need to continue hibernating. Young man, treat my benefactor’s family well. Otherwise, don’t blame this old one for bullying a youngster."
Lu Yuan sent back, "Please rest assured, Senior. I’ll take my leave now!"
Lu Yuan took hold of the cyan Flame in the water and began to swim upward.
The Old Turtle said, "Too slow. Let me give you a push!"
The Old Turtle inhaled a massive amount of water and spat it out forcefully, the powerful current blasting Lu Yuan upward.
’Does it have to be this intense?!’ Lu Yuan screamed internally.
Yunyun was still on the reservoir dam, sobbing sorrowfully, but Gongyue Monarch believed his master was not yet dead.
If Gongyue Monarch were still bound by Lu Yuan’s Spirit Capturing Device, he would definitely be able to sense whether the device’s holder was still alive.
But now that Lu Yuan had released him from the Spirit Capturing Device’s Binding, Gongyue Monarch could no longer sense Lu Yuan’s aura. Nevertheless, he firmly believed Lu Yuan would be fine.
Lu Yuan was shot out of the water’s surface by a powerful current, flying more than ten meters into the air! A few Water Ghosts were blasted out along with him.
Lu Yuan spat out the Water-Resistant Elixir in his mouth, controlled the water flow to steady himself, and manipulated the reservoir’s water to bring him safely onto the dam.
Seeing that her brother-in-law was okay, Yunyun clapped her hands in delight, cheering, "Brother-in-law, you’re amazing!"
As the cold winter wind blew, his soaking wet clothes began to frost over, dripping water constantly.
Lu Yuan couldn’t help but shiver, which made him feel a bit better. He then took the cyan Flame and circled it around his body, beginning to dry his clothes.
Gongyue Monarch and Yunyun floated over in front of Lu Yuan, keeping a certain distance because of the Flame.
Yunyun pouted and asked, "Brother-in-law, you didn’t go down there just to provoke Xiaobei on purpose, did you?"
Lu Yuan spread his hands innocently. "Of course not. I just accidentally woke it up!"
Yunyun was skeptical. ’With how deeply Xiaobei hibernates, how could it possibly be an accident?’
After drying his clothes, Lu Yuan dusted himself off and stamped his feet. He then took a closer look at Yunyun. ’Can Void Body Practitioners cry?’
"Yunyun, why does it look like you’ve been crying?" Lu Yuan bent down, leaning close to her face and peering at her delicate, child-like features, where faint tear stains were visible.
’Having followed his master for this long, Gongyue Monarch knew all too well what kind of person he was. This was a man who would grab a giant snake’s tail and start gnawing on it!’
’His fatherly love clouded his judgment. He was terrified his master would recruit his daughter—Yunyun was a little girl who would never grow up! And a Void Body Practitioner in a soul state, at that!’
Gongyue Monarch floated in front of Yunyun, shielding his daughter. He cast a spell that would allow him to physically embrace his master.
Casting aside all semblance of gentlemanly etiquette, Gongyue Monarch swept his master into an embrace, sobbing, "Master! You’re finally back! I was worried sick!"
Lu Yuan was taken aback by this sudden show of affection. ’Why is Gongyue Monarch getting all sentimental about our master-servant relationship all of a sudden?’
Lu Yuan patted Gongyue Monarch on the back and said, "Gongyue Monarch, you should stay here and spend some time with your daughter. I need to get home to my daughter, too."
"Of course, Master! Take care, Master!" Gongyue Monarch released Lu Yuan, nodding profusely with a wide smile on his face.
Lu Yuan returned home in just a few quick strides. Su Liyan came up to him, smelling a faint, fishy, earthy scent. "Brother, where have you been?" she asked.
Lu Yuan took out a large armful of turtle shell plates and said, "Getting ingredients for Alchemy!"
Su Liyan picked up one of the slimy plates, wondering to herself, ’Aren’t these from Xiaobei?’
"Brother, what did you do to Xiaobei at the bottom of the reservoir?" Su Liyan asked urgently. Looking at the huge pile of turtle shell plates, she began to suspect he might have cut the turtle open.
Lu Yuan was sorting the plates by size. "Honey, come help me!" he said. "Don’t worry about Xiaobei. I can’t even beat him. I’m lucky he didn’t swallow me whole. The old fellow gave these to me."
Su Liyan rolled up her sleeves and started sorting the plates. "That’s true," she said. "With his thousands of years of cultivation, trying to beat him underwater would be incredibly difficult."
Lu Yuan hefted the bags of shell plates in his hands. "Honey," he said, "is there a place where I can perform Alchemy?"
Su Liyan’s mother’s house wasn’t very big, having only two rooms. Performing Alchemy inside for an extended period was not a good solution.
If they couldn’t find a suitable place, Lu Yuan planned to return to his old family home in the neighboring Shige Village. No one lived there anymore, which made it perfect for Alchemy.
Lu Yuan wasn’t confident he could successfully refine an Elixir of Eternal Youth, a Human Level, Lower-Grade Elixir. It would take a long time to improve his Alchemy, and it would be best if he were undisturbed.
Su Liyan thought for a moment and said, "Why don’t we go to my grandmother’s house? After she passed away, the house has been vacant for years. It’s just a bit run-down."
