Chapter 478 - 263: Donkey Braying All Night Long, Did You Really Think I Couldn’t Hear It?
Seeing Gongyue Monarch hesitate to respond, Lu Yuan asked, "What’s wrong? Having trouble?"
Gongyue Monarch paused, fiddling with his pinky finger before giving an awkward laugh. "Well, there is a teensy-weensy bit of a problem! But it’s nothing major!"
’Heh. What a proud man. Even after being reduced to ash, he’s still so concerned with saving face.’
Lu Yuan clicked his tongue and fanned the flames. "If you can’t do it, just admit it. It’s no disgrace!"
’This is the first time the Master is using me. I can’t let him look down on me,’ Gongyue Monarch thought.
Gongyue Monarch puffed out his chest and declared, "Nonsense! For my Master, I will give my all and serve until my dying breath!"
The four Spirit Binders shook the Spirit Capturing Devices in their hands and said to the Da Xingzi beside them, "All of you, attack!"
Though terrified, the nine Da Xingzi had to muster their courage and charge forward.
As the beasts and birds charged at him, Gongyue Monarch unhurriedly opened his palms, and Thunderballs materialized within them.
Gongyue Monarch said, "Master, this is my Thunder Skill. Watch closely!"
Gongyue Monarch thrust his palms forward, sending several bolts of lightning blasting toward the Da Xingzi.
These beasts and birds were Da Xingzi with five to six hundred years of cultivation, and they were extremely fast at dodging the lightning.
A motley-feathered bird shielded itself with its wings, managing to block the lightning.
A Thunder Leopard, also familiar with some simple Thunder Skills, not only dodged with its incredible speed but also absorbed a good deal of the lightning to empower itself.
After the first simple barrage of lightning, it seemed to have no effect.
Seeing that they were completely unharmed, the Da Xingzi’s confidence soared. ’So what if he’s a spirit with a thousand years of cultivation?’
’Aren’t nine Da Xingzi with five hundred years of cultivation equivalent to one with forty-five hundred years?’
’"If one missile has a 90% hit rate, then three missiles have a 270% hit rate."’
Gongyue Monarch’s toes curled in embarrassment. ’This is a little awkward!’ he thought.
Lu Yuan almost burst out laughing. Not wanting to mock him openly, he sent a voice transmission instead. "Gongyue Monarch, without your Evil Qi, how have you gotten so lame?"
’Villains get a tenfold power boost, but heroes get a threefold nerf after being redeemed.’ Lu Yuan shook his head, forced to acknowledge this universal law.
Hearing his master’s teasing, Gongyue Monarch was fuming. He swore he would prove that his thousand years of cultivation didn’t rely on some black, misty Evil Qi.
Gongyue Monarch tossed his head, ran both hands through his luscious hair to reveal his handsome face, and said, "Master, just you watch!"
The four Grand Celestial Masters and two Celestial Masters followed close behind, unleashing the "Soul-Destroying Array."
The Soul-Destroying Array?
Lu Yuan and Gongyue Monarch were very familiar with it. This was a technique specifically designed to deal with Da Xingzi in their Void Body form. Back then, even the Grand Elder of Le Shen Temple leading a host of Grand Celestial Masters had failed to suppress Gongyue Monarch.
Here and now, Gongyue Monarch was naturally even less afraid of the array. The thought of suppressing him with just a few people was simply impossible.
Gongyue Monarch’s palms turned to claws as he shot forward. He slashed out, and the wind from his strike carried a world-destroying force.
Roaring, venting, and enduring the pressure of the "Soul-Destroying Array," Gongyue Monarch knocked back the Da Xingzi before him. He casually snatched up one of them, endlessly pouring lightning from his palm into its body until it was electrocuted into unconsciousness.
Lu Yuan watched and clicked his tongue. ’That voltage has to be at least a few thousand volts. A normal person would die instantly on contact.’
Gongyue Monarch tossed the Da Xingzi aside. Seeing his own familiar get knocked out, one of the Spirit Binders subconsciously reached out with both hands to catch it.
"Careful, it’s electrified!" Lu Yuan shouted, reaching out, but it was too late.
The residual electricity on the Da Xingzi’s body shot through the Spirit Binder who caught it, making his legs go rigid before he collapsed, unconscious.
This scene forced everyone to take the situation seriously once more. The Thunder Skill of a thousand-year-old being like Gongyue Monarch was no joke; a single misstep could be fatal.
Lu Yuan said sternly, "All you Mansion Guards, listen to me and be damn careful! And you, Gongyue Monarch, control your strength!"
Gongyue Monarch felt wronged. That level of electricity wasn’t fatal to a Da Xingzi with five or six hundred years of cultivation. Who would have thought the Spirit Binder would be foolish enough to try and catch it?
On the arena stage, the Mansion Guards all glared fiercely at Gongyue Monarch and began to fight using their signature skills.
During the fight, Lu Yuan used his Floating Skill to pull the electrocuted Spirit Binder over to his feet.
Lu Yuan bent down, checked the man’s pulse, and thought, ’He still has a heartbeat. It’s not serious. I can treat this!’
Lu Yuan took out a packet of Silver Needles and began performing acupuncture on the unconscious Spirit Binder.
The crowd outside the arena watched as their boss inserted long, thin needles, each three to four inches, into the Spirit Binder’s body. His head, in particular, was pierced with more than a dozen needles.
The crowd whispered amongst themselves. "Will all those needles kill him?" "Who knows!"
"COUGH COUGH COUGH..." The Spirit Binder coughed a few times, his eyes fluttering open. He woke up and said weakly, "Thank you, Boss, for saving my life!"
"Don’t move. Hold still for a moment while I take these needles out," Lu Yuan said, concentrating as he plucked out the needles one by one and returned them to their pouch.
Then, Lu Yuan took out an Elixir and handed it to the Spirit Binder. "This was just a sparring match, an accidental injury. It’s not a matter of saving your life."
The Spirit Binder took the Elixir and swallowed it. A dozen seconds later, he had recovered.
"How is it? Do you feel any changes?" Lu Yuan asked.
The Spirit Binder sat cross-legged and felt that his body was incredibly light and his internal meridians were flowing much more smoothly. It seemed this was all thanks to the boss.
The Spirit Binder opened his mouth to express his gratitude. "Boss, I..."
Just as Lu Yuan was checking on the Spirit Binder’s injuries, a Celestial Master was sent flying backward, crashing heavily onto him.
The Spirit Binder didn’t even get to finish his sentence. With a cry of "Ah!", he was knocked unconscious by the impact.
