Chapter 454 - 251: An Apology Is an Apology, So Why Are You Poking Me?
Standing outside the house, Su Liyan called into the inner room, "Mother, let’s go eat. We can just leave them be."
"Alright. It’s cold out, let me put on another layer," Su Liyan’s mother replied from inside.
Two trusted men, dusty from their journey, headed for Lu Yuan’s room.
Su Liyan stopped them, asking, "Is something the matter?"
"Oh, Young Madam, it’s nothing important. The Young Master just had us deliver some silver taels to the shopkeeper at the Post House outside the city. We’ve finished our task and came to report," one of the men replied.
"Oh, that. Alright, I understand. I’ll pass the message on for you. Go on and eat." Su Liyan was trying to send the two men away so they wouldn’t disturb her man’s sweet dreams.
Who would have guessed that Lu Yuan was already getting restless?
The two men bowed with clasped hands. "Very well, Young Madam."
’My man is marrying four women, yet he’s still thinking about the common folk. I really do admire that,’ Su Liyan thought.
Su Liyan and her mother went to the side hall. The two of them sat at a table by themselves, which felt a little dull, so they just made do and ate dinner.
The meal took quite some time. With nothing else to do, the mother and daughter chatted while they ate.
The table was laden with food—all manner of delicacies from the mountains and the sea.
But the atmosphere was lacking. It wasn’t as lively as it had been at the Zhao Mansion in Taiping City, so Su Liyan and her mother didn’t have much of an appetite.
By the time they finished dinner, the sky had already grown dark.
In early winter, night fell quite a bit earlier than usual.
Su Liyan supported her mother as they walked along the covered veranda.
Su Liyan’s mother said, "You don’t have to hold me up. I’m not seventy or eighty years old, unable to walk on my own."
"Oh, Mother, listen to you. You’re only in your thirties, how could you be old? Besides, our Half-demon Race has long lifespans to begin with. I just want to spend time with you," Su Liyan said, shaking her mother’s arm playfully.
Thirty-nine is still "in your thirties," after all.
"Alright, alright..." Su Liyan’s mother gave a fond, knowing smile.
"I wonder how your younger brother and Xiaoqian are doing. Is she pregnant yet?" Su Liyan’s mother wondered aloud.
Su Liyan had been in Taiping City recently, so she naturally knew more about her brother’s affairs than her mother did.
Su Liyan sighed in exasperation. "Don’t get me started. That brother of mine... he’s hopeless.
"He spends so much time at the County Yamen that he just comes home and passes out. You tell me, Mother. It’s already difficult for a snake-man and a Fox Woman to have children, and he doesn’t even know how to put in the effort!"
Su Liyan’s mother sighed. "Sigh... I’ll have a talk with him later. I don’t just want to dote on my daughter’s children, I want to dote on my son’s children, too!"
"Mother, if you have a grandson, will you still care for your granddaughter?"
"What kind of thing is that to say? You’re all the apples of my eye. How could I possibly play favorites?"
...
As Su Liyan and her mother walked and chatted along the veranda, they suddenly heard the door to the Princess’s room open.
It was Lu Yuan who came out.
Su Liyan and her mother headed toward him.
Lu Yuan’s face was beaded with sweat. He wasn’t wearing a heavy outer coat, just an undershirt, baggy shorts, and a pair of large slippers as he stood in the doorway, enjoying the cool breeze.
Understandable, for a young man to be so full of vigor.
’It’s so hot,’ Lu Yuan thought.
Gu Ziye was so slender she could hardly withstand Lu Yuan’s selfless ravishing; she still hadn’t emerged from the room.
Lu Yuan savored the memory. Gu Ziye had no fat on her for cushioning, which made things a little jarring.
Every time Lu Yuan plunged deep into that narrow passage, his own pelvis felt like it was crashing into a wall, the force of the impact bouncing right back at him.
Compared to Zhao Qiao’Er’s magnificent, full rear, Gu Ziye was the other extreme.
Su Liyan and Song Meiqin, on the other hand, filled the gap between the two.
On top of that, Su Liyan also bridged the gap between the Half-demon Race and ordinary humans.
Each of Lu Yuan’s women had her own special qualities, her own distinct flavor.
Leaning against a pillar, Lu Yuan couldn’t help but grin foolishly at the thought.
Lu Yuan was lost in his reverie for a moment before a voice calling, "Dear!" snapped him back to reality.
"Oh, it’s my wife and Mother. What are you two doing over there?" Lu Yuan asked, turning around.
In the darkness, Su Liyan rolled her eyes at him. "You have the nerve to ask? It’s this late, so of course we were going to eat."
Her eye-roll was surprisingly distinct in the darkness.
The flash of white in her eyes was tinged with a faint, ghostly green, making Lu Yuan shiver involuntarily.
The fact that his wife’s slitted pupils could glow like that in the dark, well, for Lu Yuan:
This... this was just too thrilling!
Lu Yuan absolutely cherished how different his wife was from ordinary people. It sent a jolt right through his soul.
Lu Yuan composed himself and said, "Oh, right. It’s dinnertime."
Su Liyan glanced around but didn’t see Yue’Er.
Thinking nothing of it, Su Liyan started walking into the room, asking, "Dear, where’s Yue’Er?"
Lu Yuan reached out to stop her, but it was too late.
Holding her mother’s arm, Su Liyan stepped through the open doorway.
You couldn’t blame Su Liyan and her mother for walking in; it was Lu Yuan who hadn’t closed the door behind him.
In Su Liyan’s eyes, she and Gu Ziye weren’t strangers. One was the principal wife, the other a concubine. Since the door was open, there shouldn’t be anything that couldn’t be seen.
It was only natural for her to go in and check on her sister.
"Hm?" Su Liyan let out a questioning sound, seeing Yue’Er still lying in bed.
"My dear..." Lu Yuan trailed off as he followed them inside, unsure what to say.
Lying in bed, Gu Ziye clutched the blanket to cover herself and said in a hoarse voice, "Sister, you’re here... This is so mortifying."
Gu Ziye was utterly exhausted, lying in a pool of blood.
To say she was lying in a pool of blood was a slight exaggeration, but her backside, at least, was soaked in it.
