Hmm... you know what, this is reverse psychology, I just want all the stones there are.

Get to it.

...

"Kid, you cannot suppress what you don’t understand," Yuichiro said, looking him in the eyes.

"This feels like a fever dream..." John sighed. This whole thing made sense, cause Baki, but at the same time didn’t make any sense at all.

And it wouldn’t be wrong to call this a fever dream either.

With the drug that relaxed his muscles and tried to make him unconscious, there was a strong hallucinogen mixed in as well.

Because of that and his strong visualization thanks to Haki, plus the strengthened mind built by resisting the stronger instincts of his Bloodline, John somehow became able to converse with the Hanma Bloodline inside him.

Reaching a stage of understanding that many could only dream of.

’What do I do now?’ John’s eyes turned heavy as he pressed his hand against the solid, white wall before him.

What did John even want? It was simple. He wanted to share the stories he loved. But would he be able to do that if he died or got captured here?

No, of course not.

And John feared being changed similarly; he feared dying. The instincts from the Hanma Bloodline, the reason he tried to suppress them so much was that he felt like it might overwrite him.

But that wasn’t how human minds worked. Even if one couldn’t control what happened to them, one could still control how they reacted to it.

’You can’t control what you don’t understand, huh?’ John sighed, letting go of the Haki.

"Let’s have it your way then." He killed every last bit of resistance in his mind.

The white wall started to crumble. It soon turned into a wave of white sand. John closed his eyes as that wave of white spread over the floor. But when he opened his eyes again, he could see a vast ocean stretching before him.

Clear blue waves washed over the sandy beach. John walked forward as the fine sand slipped over his feet. After a few steps, he was now standing by the ocean. The clear, cold water lapped at his feet.

’This feels nice.’ This ocean collected that feeling of euphoria and pride that he had been suppressing since the first fight in that Bank.

It had swelled after his fight with Kraven and the fight at Stark Expo. Even more during the current battle he had.

The walls weren’t for keeping him out. It was for keeping this exhilaration from reaching his mind.

Now that the walls were gone, nothing could stop this surging Tsunami. John sucked in a sharp breath as the water retreated. A huge wave started to rise far into the horizon as the ground trembled.

The wave became higher and higher as it came close.

But John didn’t turn back; neither did he try to block the wave that seemed to cover the entire sky in a matter of seconds.

Instead, he opened his arms with a huge smile. Only after he had embraced it all would he understand what it meant.

Just before the wave engulfed him. Yujiro’s words echoed in his ears.

"Congratulations, brat, you’ve reached the starting line."

As John’s schizophrenic episode ended, he truly fell unconscious. His body started to undergo true assimilation with the fully awakened Bloodline.

Task Master, who had finally stood upright, observed the guy that had almost killed him just now. It seemed the muscle relaxants had finally worked as intended.

’Even if it was cancelled, I should still get Harry for whatever it’s worth.’ He checked the notebook in his coat’s pocket one last time.

Harry had been behind the reception from the start of the fight and should be long unconscious. The good thing about this compound was that it didn’t suffocate the person, or it would’ve been a problem.

However, just as he was about to step forward, Task Master’s body stiffened. It wasn’t from the compound in the air, nor was it because of his shattered ribs poking at his left lung and heart.

Goosebumps covered him from head to toe as cold sweat poured down his back. Right before John could hit the ground, his feet planted themselves on the ground with a heavy thud. Keeping him upright.

The air itself had gained a physical weight like iron, pressing onto the surroundings. A web of cracks extended from John’s feet, growing wider as an immense mountain had descended there.

Half of the compound was already inhaled by him like it was normal air. And with a single exhale of visible white breath, he started to raise his hand above his head.

Slowly. Painfully slow. But watching that, Task Master couldn’t even move.

"Oh, come on..." He groaned as a faint tremble echoed throughout the floor.

This guy should’ve been passed out. In fact, John was indeed unconscious at this moment.

After the Hanma Bloodline had awakened 100%, it had started a whole new assimilation process. If one looked closely, one could see his skin twitching under the tattered turtleneck.

But the physical transformation lagged behind the one happening in his mind. Since John’s consciousness was in a state of limbo in the sea of exhilaration, the only thing driving his body right now was pure instinct.

A Hanma’s instinct.

And the instincts of a Hanma were sharper against those that had harboured ill will against them. So, even if they seemed to be at their most vulnerable, it didn’t mean one could take advantage of them.

Task Master stepped back slowly, like a human who came face to face with the Apex predator in the wild. He felt it deep down. This was a different game now.

However, unlike him, the Adaptoid rushed forward.

’I can’t control that damned thing anymore.’ This machine was made to grow the more it fought, and with growth came independence.

And the Adaptoid, with that newfound independence, did the only thing it was designed to do. Destroying the target.

Now that his strongest opponent seemed to be at his most unguarded, it was the perfect opportunity to take him down. However, a machine couldn’t process fear the way humans could. It lacked that fundamental instinct that had allowed Humanity to survive a planet full of apex predators.

Super Adaptoid reached John in an instant. With the shield on his right hand, it threw a straight punch. The shield’s edge was sharp and carried with it a lethal force that could break a person’s neck. Heading straight for the closed eyes.

But the next moment, the Adaptoid’s hand flew through the air alongside the shield. And before the hand could even reach the highest end of its trajectory, a boom echoed through the place.

The green smoke was blown against the walls. The long and wide windows shattered in an instant with the violent wind stirring up. The boom was akin to a jet passing through the place.

In the middle of the room, John held the Adaptoid head in one hand. And he crushed the blinking core beneath his feet. The air around him started to sway as steam started to rise from his shoulders.

Task Master looked at the back of this guy. The turtleneck was ripped to shreds now. And the muscles on his back coiled around like snakes.

The first thing to form was two hollowed eyes. Then the curved brows. Followed by a snarling mouth.

An entire face carved from muscle alone. It stared back at him.

The demon was looking through his soul.

Super soldier? Alien? Artificial enhancement? Extremis? Mutant gene? None of that fucking mattered.

The good thing was that this guy didn’t chase after him. Even previously, he wasn’t attacking, but just standing there. As long as he stayed out of its way, it wouldn’t attack.

And there was another reason he had decided to run away. The getaway vehicle was attacked, and a few helicopters were hovering above now.

’There is no way to match that striking power.’ Task Master slipped into the shadows of the trees and rushed away, watching the feed of the one that was massacring the AIM elite force right now.

Well, he was doing that before. Now, even that blood-covered maniac has his eyes fixed on the hall where that guy was.

His face had become deathly pale like he had come across a demon from hell. And it wouldn’t be wrong to say that.

’Since when did Oscorp get hold of Nuke?’ He spared the face-painted freak just a glance before jumping over the wall.

A few gunmen were waiting for him, but he made quick work of them even with his injuries.

Well, it wasn’t his problem anymore. None of this was. Task Master rushed out of the street, his heart still thumping wildly as he crushed the earpiece that had been blaring in his ear.

’Capturing that? No can do.’

"I am never taking a job related to this guy, never." Task Master retreated while scribbling in his notebook.

On the Do not mess with page, a third name was added today.

1. Moon Knight.

2. Deadpool.

3. The guy with a Demon Face on his back.

Maybe it would be better to learn his name first. But that was something he could do after getting out of New York.
