Thor couldn’t help but remember his last moment in Asgard.

Ashitaka had already accepted everything; however, Thor still had a longing for his home. He wanted to return even while knowing what trouble it could bring, even if he had no strength to solve the impending war caused by his mistake.

Jane had said that she was reminded of Ashitaka when she saw him. In truth, they couldn’t be more different.

Unlike his complaints and whining before being cast out, this boy didn’t cause a scene even if he had left everything behind without a proper farewell.

It was a dishonour to the prince to compare Thor with him.

"What do you think?" Jane asked as the last page showed the boy exiting the village gates on his elk.

"I would like to know more of this tale." Thor wanted to understand more about Ashitaka and what awaited him in the future.

The words of Hii, ’See with eyes unclouded’, he wanted to know how someone like Ashitaka would do that.

"So would I, but this writer is very cruel. He keeps dishing out cliffhangers like it is his full-time job. I mean it is, but still..." Jane let out an exasperated sigh; she was glad she didn’t read the first two novels when they were being posted.

Just reading through the compiled version had kept her on the edge; she couldn’t fathom how bad it would’ve been if she had to follow the stories Chapter by Chapter.

’Well, now I have to deal with this sadist’s unfair methods.’ She huffed.

"What are cliffhangers?" Thor asked, tilting his head innocently.

"Oh, dear..." Jane couldn’t help but look forward to his constant unease.

Whenever she felt down, she had been checking the Chapter comments on this writer’s website, and watching the readers’ reactions to cliffhangers always lifted her mood.

However, Thor was quite different in letting others know of his displeasure. Throughout the next two days, he kept poking her every 10 minutes, asking if the next part of the supposed tale had arrived.

It didn’t matter if she was in the middle of calculations, eating, or even bathing; he only knocked on the door when she was bathing, though, still, it drove her up the wall.

When she told him to read other works from John Doe, Thor crossed his arms with a determined expression.

"One mustn’t leave a tale unfinished and start another; it disrespects the craft and effort of the one who wrote the tale."

That sounded very noble, but Jane wished he would really busied himself with something else. She was already mentally strained between Pluto and having all her work forcefully taken.

"It says the Chapter will be out tonight by 9." In the end, Darcy came to the rescue.

"Then I shall wait here." Thor took a seat near Darcy.

"You seriously going to sit there for hours and stare at me working?" Darcy blinked.

"Yes, I hope you would allow me to read when the next part of the tale arrives in this... metal book?" Thor continued with the matter-of-fact tone.

"So, this is what winning a lottery feels like, huh?" Darcy muttered while looking at her boss.

"That aside, how do you know the Chapter will be out tonight?" Jane crossed her arms.

"As much as I would like to claim I have a direct link to the writer, I was checking the page every 10 minutes, and it happened to get updated while you two were having your moment." Darcy shrugged.

"How... are you supposed to work when you are that distracted?" Jane barely hid her blush.

"I was only doing it so I don’t get distracted thinking the new Chapter is already out and I am here shadow boxing numbers." With a light-hearted smile, Darcy continued. "But it looks like the writer John Doe is in big trouble."

"What happened to the Skald?" Thor’s eyes narrowed.

"I assume you are talking about the writer here, but nothing actually happened to him. It’s just that his previous work has created quite an issue."

Jane walked behind Darcy and looked at the computer screen. It was a news article following the story of a radical group calling themselves Fight Club, and their leader was supposedly Tyler Durden.

"Did he hop out of the novel?" Jane sighed.

"I hope he did; Tyler’s like... ultra hot," Darcy smirked, remembering the illustrations. Whoever made those, she hoped they got blessed.

The group had already become a bit infamous for targeting premium brands’ stores in New York over the past few days. They always left behind graffiti to make their presence known, like school kids scraping a school desk with a compass.

’I mean that work expressly warned against this type of behaviour, and look what happens.’ She almost face-palmed as this knock-off Fight Club had apparently stormed the front gate of Centurion Club, an exclusive club owned by Norman Osborn.

The same Norman Osborn who has been in the news for the past few days since his return as the CEO of Oscorp. He even gave a long interview to Vanity Fair, talking about his new vision of Humanity’s future and stating his intention of taking over Hammer Industries soon.

"I hope the writer doesn’t get blamed for this." Jane wanted to read more of both Pluto and Princess Mononoke.

It was one thing to mourn a cliffhanger, but a hiatus was infinitely worse.

"Too late for that; some articles and Twitter users are trying to get him roped in for writing Fight Club like they were waiting for this moment. Standard stuff."

Jane and Darcy read through the comments with great interest while Thor still wondered when the next Chapter would arrive.

But none of them expected that the writer himself was in the middle of the incident at the Centurion Club.

John was at home trying to figure out what he wanted to wear to the Harry Osborn party. The dress code was casual, but this was a rich guy’s party.

Well, it wasn’t much of a decision since he only had one three-buttoned navy suit with a black turtleneck and black Air Forces. Only the shoes were brand new; the rest he had picked up from his earlier thrift store run.

’It is a decent fit for someone going alone.’ He had to keep a tight grip on his finances.

Gwen had cancelled last minute; well, in reality, she told him about it yesterday. Saying something came up at home. John believed it at first, but the way Natasha was smirking at him, she surely had a hand in the matter.

’So, SHIELD was after Gwen and Natasha got me as a bonus, huh. And I was so sure she had come after me specifically.’ It wasn’t the best feeling to get played like that, but it could’ve been worse.

As for why he was going even without Gwen? Well, John always wanted to see how the richest celebrated their birthdays with his own eyes for once.

It always sounded so grand when one read about these events on the news, and in reality, it had the same grandeur. Especially when Harry had sent a car to pick him up personally, bringing him to one of the richest neighbourhoods in New York.

And as John walked through the gates of Centurion Club, an elite establishment where the membership fee of one year was around 1 million per person, he found the lively party a lot less intriguing than he had expected.

’Must be the Hanma blood’s indifference to money and the Haki.’ Truthfully, John himself wasn’t that interested in money. If he was, the books on the website wouldn’t be priced so low.

The main reason he came here today was that Harry had uttered some magical words.

The words being, All You Can Eat Buffet.

As most of the rich ass brats and Harry’s posse were busy dancing and socializing, John’s eyes were on the rows of dishes.

Prime rib, sushi, lamb chops, Peking duck, wagyu beef, lobster, and more. It was meat heaven, a boundless feast.

’Now this is what I am talking about!’ He had already eaten enough for ten people, but no one raised a brow.

Well, it wasn’t that they didn’t want to; others were just too scared to make a peep near him. Even while enjoying his meal, the energy around John wasn’t the friendliest.

The reason for that was the constantly circulating cursed energy and his endless appetite. Many wanted to talk with him, but they just scattered whenever he walked by.

So, John got to enjoy his food and no one tried to strike awkward chatter with him; was this heaven?

Well, even heaven had its problems. John, who was about to get some clam chowder, but stopped halfway before his fingers touched the ladle.

This thing was just refilled, but now it had this reddish energy emanating from its surface. And only he could notice this, because the others who had taken the chowder before him didn’t react to it.

He wasn’t sure what it was, but something was mixed into this with a negative intent. After becoming familiar with cursed energy through training, along with his Hanma senses and Haki, he had been able to notice the swirl of negative energy in other people.

In this world, everyone had negative energy, but they couldn’t convert it into cursed energy like John because they didn’t have the Jujutsu sorcerer’s physique.

However, whenever negative energy appeared, it followed not-so-good intentions.

John’s eyes scanned through the place; most of the people here had negative thoughts, but they were green in color, mild even. But in that sea of green, he easily found the burning red matching the chowder. A waiter who moved through the party members with a practiced smile, but very sharp, mocking eyes.

The problem was that he wasn’t the only one.
