Chapter 1: Nightmare of the Gods
In the palace of Asgard, Odin stood upon the high platform, the Eternal Spear in his hand.
"Mortal, your hands are stained with the blood of Asgard’s warriors!"
"They were all the greatest warriors of Asgard! They were gods!"
"And you, a mortal sheltered by Asgard, dared to defy your superiors!"
"You will suffer severe punishment for this!"
Odin slowly walked toward the man before him. With every step he took, his aura rose another level.
"Though they were honored as gods, their dying howls could not even drown out the whistling wind."
Orion Cross stared coldly at Odin, the God-King before him.
This was the bastard who had brought him and a group of mortals from Earth to Asgard.
This was also the one who had indulged Loki’s schemes and allowed him to toy with them as he pleased.
When Orion Cross raised the banner of rebellion, Odin had still treated them as nothing more than a trial for his son.
A trial paid for with their lives.
"A monstrous crime!"
Odin’s fury surged to the heavens as he raised the Eternal Spear high.
"Heh. High and mighty God-King, if you already cannot suppress the anger in your heart now, then when Ragnarok descends, how will you face it?"
Orion Cross watched him coldly and spoke without the slightest fear.
"Ragnarok?!"
Odin’s expression changed slightly. For nearly a hundred years, whenever he entered the Odinsleep, he had indeed dreamed of Ragnarok. But how did this mortal know about it?
"Father, we cannot wait any longer."
Seeing that Odin still intended to speak, Loki hurriedly stepped forward and reminded him.
"Yes."
Odin returned to his senses and regained his composure.
The mortal before him possessed the authority of war. It had once been one of the divine authorities of his eldest daughter, Hela. After his eldest daughter was sealed away, it had fallen into his hands.
And this mortal could actually only maintain his powerful state for one hour each day. After that, he would return to that frail, unbearably fragile mortal body.
But even with that frail mortal body, he was still alive to this day, while all those brave Asgardian warriors had returned to Valhalla.
He could not be killed.
For such a trait to appear in a mortal was far too strange.
In order to deal with Orion Cross, Odin had even secretly acted once, causing him to fall into the resting place of the army of the dead beneath the great hall and awakening half of that army.
And the result?
Orion Cross spent three days and three nights killing the army of the dead that once belonged to Hela, along with the giant wolf Fenrir, all over again.
At this point, sealing him was the only option, just as he had sealed his eldest daughter, Hela.
And it had to be done quickly. If this mortal’s power recovered during the sealing process, then...
"In the name of Odin, King of the Gods, I banish and seal you completely!"
Odin chanted an icy incantation, opening a dark green portal beneath Orion Cross’s feet.
The dark green portal was filled with the aura of death and gloom, and it was extremely unstable.
Watching that terrifying mortal fall into the abyss, the gods breathed a sigh of relief, and Odin prepared to close the portal.
At that moment, a burst of starlight erupted from the universe and shot into the portal.
"This is... Not good!"
The gods of Asgard were far too familiar with this sight. It was the sign that the mortal was recovering his power!
Odin also sensed that something was wrong. He immediately tightened his grip on the Eternal Spear and accelerated the closing of the portal.
Buzz!
Fortunately, the portal closed at the very end.
However, in the final second, a streak of starlight accompanied a voice that resounded through the great hall.
"Spear and shield, to the gods!"
Boom!
A spear and shield burst out of the portal, slamming into the roof of the palace hall like a comet.
The dome cracked and collapsed with a thunderous roar.
Looking up at the sky through the shattered roof of the palace, the gods of Asgard felt their fear of Orion Cross deepen once more.
...
"Where exactly is this place?"
"I’ve been falling for an entire hour... Don’t tell me this is a bottomless pit?"
Still plummeting downward, Orion Cross reached out, and the spear and shield bound to his soul through his identity as the War Aspect returned to his hands.
Boom!
After falling for an unknown length of time, Orion Cross finally smashed into the ground.
The moment he struck the ground, Orion Cross felt as if his soul had nearly been knocked out of his body.
However, because of his permanent ability, The Unbreakable Spear, he would not die at all.
The Unbreakable Spear (Title)
Description: The spear does not bend, and neither do I. The War Aspect was originally a mortal named Atreus. After suffering countless defeats, he used a mortal’s will to light the star in the sky that belonged to him, becoming the new generation’s War Aspect and severing the arm of the world-ending demon Aatrox.
Effect: A mortal’s will is unbreakable. As long as that will does not submit, it can resist the summons of the realm of death and grant immunity to death. When fighting gods and demons, strength increases by one hundred percent.
"Oh? Odin actually sent someone else in?"
A frivolous female voice sounded from within the darkness.
