Chapter 3: Zephrys the Great
[Completed mission: "Make Hela Feel Pleased." Reward obtained: "Zephrys the Great."]
Just as Orion Cross was thinking about how to let the Ancient One know he had already returned to Earth, a voice sounded beside his ear.
This was the system he had obtained after transmigrating. Every time he came into contact with a major character, it would generate a specific mission based on that person.
If he did not want to complete the mission, he could simply leave it unaccepted for a month, and it would automatically refresh into another one.
Ever since Orion Cross had been sealed here by Odin, his missions had gradually changed from "Break the Seal" and "Kill Hela" at the beginning to "Enslave Hela" and "Defeat Hela."
Until this time, the mission "Make Hela Feel Pleased" was finally completed.
"Zephrys... It can’t be that thing, right?"
Orion Cross took the newly obtained item out of the system’s storage space.
A magic lamp!
[Zephrys the Great]
Effect: Consume second-tier mana, rub the magic lamp, and summon the lamp spirit. The lamp spirit will do its best to fulfill one wish for you.
Cooldown: One month.
"Maybe we don’t need to wait for that person anymore."
"What is this thing?"
Hela walked to Orion Cross’s side with her hands on her waist, looking at the magic lamp with slight curiosity.
"A wish machine. Do you know magic? This thing might be able to help us escape."
Orion Cross held the magic lamp and looked at Hela.
He did not have even the slightest bit of mana in his body. He did not even understand the ranking system of magic, let alone something like second-tier mana.
"A little."
Hela frowned slightly and took the magic lamp from Orion Cross’s hand. "What do you want me to do?"
"Rub it. Use your magic to activate this lamp, then make a wish for us to leave this place."
"Odin’s seal can be broken by this thing?"
Hela expressed her doubt.
As the first person to experience this seal, she had tried countless methods to break it back then.
Could an object with almost no magical energy fluctuations really break the seal?
Hela rubbed the magic lamp and felt a small amount of magic being drawn out of her body.
Then, a plume of blue smoke drifted out of the magic lamp and formed a humanoid shape.
"I will do my best to fulfill your wish."
The lamp spirit floated in the air and mechanically spoke those words.
"How many times can this be used?"
Hela did not make a wish immediately. Instead, she turned her head and asked Orion Cross.
"Once every month. What are you planning?"
"Nothing."
The corners of Hela’s mouth rose slightly. Then she looked at the lamp spirit, Zephrys. "Let me leave this damned place!"
Hela shamelessly made a wish for herself alone to leave.
"I will do my best to fulfill your wish."
The lamp spirit Zephrys waved a finger, and Hela’s figure instantly disappeared. Afterward, he also drilled back into the magic lamp, which fell to the ground.
"Hela really left?"
Orion Cross stepped forward, picked up the magic lamp, and looked around in confusion.
Orion Cross did not feel much about Hela choosing to leave alone. If it really succeeded, then he would only need to stay here for another month.
But if it failed, or if some other unpredictable situation occurred...
"Then you can only pray for yourself."
Orion Cross sat down where he was and waited in silence.
Fortunately, Hela had taken away the dark curtain before leaving, so at least Orion Cross could watch the sun rise and set, knowing how long a day had passed.
After Orion Cross carved two tally marks into the ground, he suddenly heard a faint sound.
In this sealed space, completely cut off from the outside world and deathly silent, even the tiniest sound made people extremely sensitive.
Boom!
Before Orion Cross could react, a black object crashed heavily in front of him.
"So, you didn’t get out?"
Orion Cross took two steps back and looked at Hela in the pit. Silently, he put the magic lamp away, lest Hela fly into a rage and destroy it later.
"Thank you. You let me experience the feeling of being sealed all over again."
Hela’s long black hair spilled across the ground as she coughed out a mouthful of black air.
"I think the problem might have been your wording."
Orion Cross sat at the edge of the pit and spoke to Hela inside.
"Wording? What did I say back then?"
Hela looked a little confused and could not remember for a moment.
"You said, ’Leave this damned place.’ In essence, after you made the wish, you did indeed leave this place, so the wish was actually fulfilled."
Orion Cross explained with a perfectly serious expression.
"How long until the next time?"
Hela supported herself against the ground with one hand and climbed out of the pit. She looked coldly at Orion Cross and asked.
"Soon. Once I finish writing six full tally marks, we can use it again."
Orion Cross pointed at the marks carved into the dirt not far away.
Twenty days later, Hela once again took the magic lamp from Orion Cross.
She rubbed it. Her magic was drawn away, and the lamp spirit Zephrys floated out from within.
"I will do my best to fulfill your wish."
"Let me leave this seal!"
The moment Hela finished speaking, her figure disappeared again.
"I wonder if it’ll work this time."
Orion Cross stepped forward and picked up the magic lamp, but he no longer held much hope in his heart.
This lamp spirit named Zephrys was probably an idiot.
