Chapter 65: Return, Preparing for Revenge!
"Cyberpunk? Mechanical prosthetics?"
Looking at the neon lights flashing past outside the window, Orion Cross suddenly had an idea. He had already been to Piltover once, and he had even built a connection with the Gray Lady, Camille. In that case, getting his hands on the mechanical modification technology unique to Piltover and Zaun should not be a problem.
The main world’s high-end technology did have quite a few intelligent prosthetics, but they either had side effects, noticeable delays, insufficient precision, or all kinds of other flaws. Meanwhile, the mechanical prosthetics of Piltover and Zaun had already become a trend, just like in a cyberpunk world. Prosthetics were like cell phones. On top of that, aside from prosthetics used by disabled people, those auxiliary devices should also become explosive bestsellers.
"Cell phones? Computers?"
At that thought, inspiration flashed through Orion Cross’s mind. As mentioned before, the more extraordinary powers a world had, the easier it was for that world’s technological tree to leap ahead in certain areas, and Piltover was one such example. The scientists in that city could create high-tech prosthetics, high-strength weapons, highly efficient energy sources, and even robots that combined magic with technology. Yet they had no computers, nor did they have cell phones. Even Heimerdinger, known as the greatest inventor, had no choice but to modify his own brain and turn himself into a "Big Head" because he lacked enough computing power.
"As expected, being an interdimensional middleman is the true path to riches."
After deciding on a direction, Orion Cross did not rush to summon Yuumi and head straight to Piltover. After all, he could only stay in Runeterra for twelve hours at a time. He did not know how long the cooldown would be for now, but it was still better to prepare everything he could bring before going, to save himself unnecessary trouble.
After waking up, Orion Cross put on his pajamas and prepared to head downstairs to wash up.
"Huh? Why are you two dressed so formally?"
Seeing Raven and Susan sitting in the living room in women’s suits, Orion Cross could not help but freeze for a moment. And those suits... Don’t tell him they were what the two of them bought when they went out yesterday? Had they already discussed this back then?
"We’re going to interview an interviewer later so she can help us interview other people."
Susan took a sip of coffee, then turned around and explained to Orion Cross.
"Nested interviews are forbidden..."
"You two should do your best. Maybe I’ll need your help in the future."
Orion Cross felt his head ache a little just hearing it, but when he thought about how much more convenient it would be for him to start a company once the two of them developed first, he immediately made an encouraging gesture toward them.
"Oh, right."
Orion Cross suddenly thought of something and looked at Mystique. "Raven, don’t forget to tutor Wanda."
He did not want Wanda to turn into a "mentally deficient" mage with no common sense in the future. As a mage, having high intelligence was not supposed to be a basic setting?
"Don’t worry, I won’t forget. After this is over, Susan and I will go buy textbooks for her."
Raven made an OK gesture.
Skye brought over breakfast: bread, ham, eggs, and a cup of hot milk for each person.
"We’re leaving?"
After breakfast, Susan and Raven stood up, preparing to head out.
"Wait."
Orion Cross tossed his agent phone over. "Use mine for now. You’ll probably have new ones by the time you get back."
"OK!"
Raven deftly caught the phone Orion Cross threw over, tucked it into her chest, and winked.
After the two of them left, Orion Cross held a slice of bread in one hand and turned on the television. To read thrilling novels, go to Faloo Novel Network!
"New York Morning News, live breaking report: Stark Industries chairman Tony Stark has returned safely. God bless America. However, after getting off the plane, he immediately held a press conference. What is he planning to do? Is he trying to stabilize Stark Group’s stock price?"
The voice coming from the television made Skye, Wanda, and Orion Cross all turn their eyes toward the screen.
"I announce that from today onward, Stark Industries’ weapons manufacturing division will be shut down indefinitely."
On the television screen, Tony Stark, whose face was still stained with blood that had not dried, announced this decision. The next second, a bald man hurried forward, snatched the microphone, and began explaining away Tony Stark’s words. If there was no mistake, this guy was the mastermind behind everything, Obadiah Stane.
"Why does he want to shut down the weapons division?" Wanda suddenly asked.
"Not long ago, he was nearly blown half to death in the Middle East by a missile engraved with the Stark Industries logo. He found out someone had been selling missiles to terrorists behind his back."
"Maybe he’s afraid people will discover it in the future, or maybe he feels guilty and wants to make up for it before it’s too late. Either way, he shut it down."
Skye searched for information on Tony Stark with her laptop while explaining it to Wanda.
"The indirect perpetrator who caused your parents’ deaths and the true culprit are both on the screen. Do you want revenge?"
Orion Cross hugged the somewhat confused Wanda and patted her shoulder.
"The true culprit? You mean..."
Wanda froze slightly. Since she already knew Tony Stark had not been the one who sold the weapons to the terrorists, there was only one person left on the screen: Obadiah!
"Huh? I found the directory of a transaction record. That Obadiah really does have a problem."
In front of the computer, Skye’s hand suddenly paused, and she raised her head as she spoke.
"Right, but the specific contents should be stored in an offline environment. Unless we sneak into Stark Tower and find that computer, we probably won’t be able to get them."
Skye turned the computer around. The rows of directory entries displayed on it were clearly problematic. Stark Industries’ orders from the military were always massive. How could there be transactions selling only dozens at a time, or even just one by one?
"Speaking of which, you can even hack into Stark Group’s computers? Not bad."
Orion Cross suddenly shifted his focus and praised Skye.
"Uh, well, actually, I could do it before too."
"It’s just that even if I could do it, I would probably be discovered."
Skye scratched her head somewhat sheepishly. Clearly, it was because she had heard what Orion Cross said to Nick Fury yesterday that she had the courage to forcibly attack Stark Group’s network today.
"But you still need to be careful. That guy has a personal artificial intelligence."
Orion Cross smiled and gave her a reminder.
"Huh? Really? Then I do need to be careful."
Skye froze for a moment, came back to her senses, and hurriedly took the computer back. She began erasing traces and preparing to retreat.
"Wanda, call that kid Pietro. It’s time to settle the score."
Orion Cross looked at Tony Stark on the television screen as he pushed past the many reporters and got into a car, then spoke.
"Mm!"
A faint dark-red glow flashed through Wanda’s eyes. She took the phone out of her pants pocket and dialed.
