Chapter 844: Advanced Spirit Particle Bait
Boom!!!
Once again, an entire steel train car was crushed midair by an invisible force. The collapsing, twisting steel emitted a series of hair-raising sounds.
They could clearly see the sunken indentations on the outside of the car, as if someone had placed their hands on both ends and applied rotational force in opposite directions, creating a twisted shape like braided rope.
From inside the wreckage of the completely deformed car, bright red blood kept seeping outward. Through the shattered gaps, one could faintly make out more than a dozen horrific corpses, crushed into unrecognizable pulp.
"Hss.."
Steve and Bucky both sucked in a sharp breath, their lungs filling with an icy chill that burned like fire.
It wasn’t that they had never seen dead people...
But never had they seen people die so miserably, crushed to death inside a warped steel train car from all sides, every inch of bone and muscle ground to powder. One could only imagine the agony they suffered before death.
A cold sweat soaked Steve’s back, his pupils narrowing to the size of needlepoints.
Even though a super soldier feared no freezing weather, at this moment he felt a rare cold, not from the subzero temperature around them, but from the chill rising from within his chest.
If they had been even a little slower, if they hadn’t escaped from that train car in time, the two mangled bodies inside, like shredded meat paste, would have been their own fate.
Steve raised his head, fear and shock flashing in his eyes, as he looked up at the figure floating in the air, like a man gazing at a god.
That guy... was he even human?!
This was an entire train, its net weight, without even counting the cargo, approached two hundred tons. Each individual car weighed at least ten tons!
And yet... what happened?
In the presence of this man, a train weighing hundreds of tons was like a child’s toy, easily flipped off the tracks, and even crushed flat with a casual squeeze.
More and more Hydra soldiers crawled out from the overturned cars. Upon witnessing that man’s terrifying power, every one of them was frozen with horror.
Resist?
No... they didn’t resist.
After the man displayed god-like might, these Hydra soldiers had already lost the will to fight. They could only kneel on the ground, gazing up at him, silently praying for mercy. That was the only thing they could do.
The man’s cold eyes swept over the Hydra soldiers below, and then, with a casual motion, he struck his palm in their direction.
In that instant, every alarm in Steve’s mind blared at once.
Every hair on his body stood on end. An indescribable terror gripped his heart, and his instincts screamed that death was about to arrive.
Relying on his super soldier reflexes, Steve unleashed his potential at the brink of life and death.
Hoisting the badly injured Bucky, the muscles in his legs swelled in an instant. With a heavy stomp on the ice, raw power like rocket fuel burst out, propelling him sideways several dozen meters in barely a second.
The ice beneath them caved in over a wide area from the impact, shards spraying outward in a storm.
Boom!
Steve had barely dashed several dozen meters before a deafening explosion erupted behind him. A terrifying shockwave surged forward like a tsunami, making the ice tremble violently.
The next moment
The rolling air blast slammed into their backs like thousands of iron hammers. They were like pitiful souls in raging waves, clutching a piece of driftwood, on the verge of being swallowed and crushed at any moment.
The force flung both of them into the air as if hit by a speeding car.
They were hurled high, then smashed heavily onto the ice, which cracked beneath them. Blood sprayed from their mouths, the muscles on their faces twisting from the pain, every inch of their bodies screaming in agony.
Dazed from the impact, Steve saw stars. It took him several seconds to recover, panting heavily in lingering fear as he turned his head to look back at where they had just been.
At this sight, he was instantly stunned.
On the vast, boundless ice field covered in white snow, there was, shockingly, the clear imprint of a massive palm, its diameter over a hundred meters.
Judging by the destructive force alone, it was as if a meteor had crashed down from the heavens. The terrifying impact had covered the surrounding ice with countless dense cracks and fissures.
What was even more horrifying...
Over a hundred Hydra soldiers had been smashed into pulp by that one palm. Their scalding blood was still radiating heat, and even from a hundred meters away, one could smell that pungent stench of blood.
The blood, splattered in all directions, had soaked the pure white snow around them into a chilling deep red.
Those soldiers...
One second, they were whole human beings, the next, they had turned into disgusting piles of flesh. At a glance, you couldn’t even tell who was who, just like freshly minced meat that had been beaten into paste by a machine on an assembly line.
Even Steve, who had endured the most brutal wars, who had seen with his own eyes the "Leningrad meat grinder" and believed he had already gazed into the true depths of hell, could not help but feel violently nauseated. His stomach churned, and acid surged up, burning his nose and eyes.
The next moment, he vomited.
"Ughhh!!!"
Steve vomited uncontrollably. Half-digested food surged up his throat without pause, the spicy sting irritating his throat, making his stomach cramp even harder. Tears, uncontrollable, streamed from his eyes along with it.
He could still remember the hamburger he had eaten that morning, how the beef patty inside looked disturbingly similar to these human meat piles.
Bucky wasn’t faring any better. He had long since vomited until his vision blurred, unable even to stand, collapsing right into his own vomit as his body convulsed.
Inside an entire train car holding over a thousand Hydra soldiers, only a few remained alive. Everyone’s sanity had completely shattered.
"Hel... help!!!"
"Don’t kill me! I beg you, please don’t kill me!"
"No, I have a family! I can’t die! Spare my life!"
The once high-and-mighty Hydra were now wailing in pain, begging that godlike figure above to spare them.
"If you truly are a god..."
One broken Hydra soldier, shouting up at the man towering above, cried out in near-despair and hysteria,
"Even if you want to punish us, at the very least tell us, what exactly did we do wrong?!"
"I am no god."
The man finally spoke. His voice wasn’t loud, yet it rose above the howling blizzard, reaching every ear clearly,
"As for the reason you’re asking for... it’s simply revenge. That is my reason. Tell me, does that suffice?"
Revenge...
Slaughtering nearly hundreds of them, just for that reason?
"Advanced spirit bait..."
The man crushed a crystalline seed in his hand, looking down at the furious crowd with an indifferent gaze,
"It can instantly create a large number of Hollows. For people like you, it’s the perfect chance to experience firsthand the feelings of those ordinary people when you slaughtered them without mercy."
An eye for an eye.
They had once relied on their weapons to massacre countless defenseless civilians. Now that they had met someone far stronger, naturally, the same methods would be used, on them.
Are you afraid?
Terrified?
Regretful?
The villagers of Tønsberg had once felt the exact same way, slaughtered one by one, then discarded into the snow.
Now... it’s your turn.
