Chapter 904: The Freed Beast
Ding—
Accompanied by the flickering elevator numbers, it finally came to a stop at the 186th floor.
Very few people knew that more than two hundred meters beneath the Triskelion, there was a hidden prison complex.
Any agent who knew about or could enter this place generally possessed Level 7 clearance or above, making them one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s elites. Even Sharon had only heard of it and had never actually entered before.
After the elevator doors opened, a straight corridor stretched out ahead.
The entire corridor was silver-gray, with recessed lights embedded every dozen meters. The walls on all four sides were constructed from alloy, made of nearly the same material as the metal barriers outside the Triskelion, giving them excellent impact resistance.
Sharon cautiously peeked around the corner and observed the surroundings, only to find that Grant had already disappeared, while the circular metal door at the end of the corridor remained open.
Clearly, he had already gone inside.
Without hesitation, Sharon drew the pistol strapped to her thigh, checked the remaining rounds in the magazine, skillfully chambered a round, kept it ready to fire at any moment, and carefully followed after him.
Beyond the circular metal door lay the actual prison area. Every prisoner held here occupied an individual cell, each fitted with two-way interrogation room glass, ensuring that those inside could not see outside, while those outside could clearly observe the interior.
Besides that, the cells possessed extremely high defensive capabilities, their entire structure made from alloy to ensure they could never be broken open.
Automatic detection monitors were installed throughout the corridors and every cell. Once anyone attempted to escape, large quantities of sedative chemical agents would be released through the ceiling ventilation system.
Each room also contained numerous lethal weapons permanently aimed at the prisoners.
Should the sedative chemicals prove ineffective, those weapons would immediately activate, eliminating the prisoners as quickly as possible to prevent them from escaping.
But now, all of those defensive measures had been shut down by Grant.
Although the prisoners could not escape in a short time, if enough time passed, it would be difficult to guarantee that nothing disastrous would happen.
Holding her pistol in both hands, Sharon maintained her guard as she slowly advanced deeper into the prison.
The prisoners in the cells on both sides each had a brief description posted outside. She casually glanced at several of them and discovered that they were almost all "special humans," such as people possessing extraordinary abilities or individuals who had participated in dangerous experiments.
The criminals imprisoned beneath S.H.I.E.L.D. had long since departed from the category of "ordinary humans."
That was precisely why they had been gathered together and imprisoned under the strictest conditions in this facility. Or rather, this place should probably be called a "superhuman prison."
"Director Fury really has some nerve..."
After looking through the files, Sharon could not help sighing with mixed emotions. "He actually kept so many terrifying people directly beneath S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters. I really don’t know what he was thinking."
An ordinary person would never do something like this.
If anything ever went wrong and these vicious criminals escaped, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Pushing those concerns aside, Sharon took a deep breath. Her highest priority now was to find Grant and stop him from releasing the prisoner Glenn Talbot. Everything else, no matter how important, could wait.
Moving swiftly, she crossed the first prison level.
The underground prison was divided into three levels. The danger level increased with each one, and the prisoners held on the third level were the most, most, most dangerous of all. Its security level was also worlds apart from the other two.
Under normal circumstances, Grant would never have been able to enter the third prison level.
Entering the third prison level required Level 10 clearance. However, Grant had disabled the security program beforehand and then used Alexander’s acting authority to forcibly unlock the third prison level.
From a certain perspective, Sharon actually had Grant to thank. Otherwise, with her level of clearance, she would not even have been able to enter the first level.

Grant was standing before a cell in the third prison level, speaking excitedly with someone. His entire face was flushed red, and even the veins on his neck bulged, clearly showing that his emotions had reached their peak.
"Don’t move!"
Without hesitation, Sharon raised her pistol and aimed it at Grant. "If you move one more inch, I’ll put several holes through your head and make sure you die an ugly death!"
"It’s you... Sharon Carter?"
Grant’s expression stiffened. He clearly hadn’t expected to be followed. His expression darkened as he said, "The niece of the legendary Agent Carter... You really aren’t as simple as you appear. Did Fury send you?"
Bang!
A bullet streaked past Grant’s cheek, leaving behind a bloody scratch.
"Don’t try anything, Grant." Sharon’s eyes were icy as she warned him. "Take your hand away from your waist. If I catch you making another move, I’ll shoot straight through your head!"
The corner of Grant’s eye twitched slightly. The hand that had originally been secretly reaching toward his waist slowly withdrew before rising above his head. "I never expected someone who usually handles technical support paperwork to shoot so accurately. I really underestimated you, Sharon Carter."
"Now, I ask."
"You answer."
Without lowering her guard, Sharon maintained her distance and kept her pistol trained on Grant as she questioned him, "Who is the prisoner you’re planning to release?"
"Glenn Talbot, the colonel responsible for the military’s gravity weapon research."
Grant forced a smile, trying his best to appear harmless in the hope that Sharon would lower her guard.
"What else?"
Sharon continued, "I want all of his information!"
"If you want to know, it’s written right there. You can read it yourself."
Grant gestured toward the cell with his chin, signaling for her to look.
Sharon hesitated. She did not dare move too close to Grant, afraid he might have another trick prepared. "I want you to tell me."
"Fine, fine. I understand."
With a gun pointed at him, Grant shrugged and said, "Glenn Talbot was responsible for the military’s gravity weapon research. During one experiment, he discovered a new substance called ’Gravitonium.’ After accidentally merging with it himself... he underwent a slight change."
Sharon frowned.
"What kind of change?"
"Heh..."
Grant deliberately kept her in suspense and mysteriously asked, "Do you know what ’universal gravitation’ is?"
"Are you insulting me?"
Sharon’s expression darkened as she said coldly, "I have a master’s degree in physics from MIT."
"Hmm, sounds impressive."
Grant smiled and said, "The change is... after merging with Gravitonium, Glenn Talbot gained control over universal gravitation."
As someone with a master’s degree from MIT, Sharon naturally knew what universal gravitation was. More importantly, she knew exactly how terrifying it would be if someone could actually control such a force.
For a brief instant, Sharon froze.
That single moment was exactly what Grant had been waiting for. He immediately slapped the button on the outside of the prison cell.
"Oh no!!!"
By the time Sharon snapped out of her shock, she pulled the trigger in horror.
However, before the bullet fired from the muzzle could even reach Grant, it suddenly dropped straight to the ground midway through the air.
Immediately afterward...
The invisible force of gravity suddenly multiplied.
With a heavy thud, Sharon was slammed flat against the ground, pinned there so tightly she could not move.
"Fresh air... it’s been a long time..."
A resolute-looking man with an eight-shaped mustache slowly walked out of the cell, dressed in a crude prison uniform.
"Welcome back, Glenn Talbot."
Grant was visibly extremely nervous. Several drops of cold sweat rolled down his forehead. Raising his right arm level with his line of sight, he stood at attention and loudly declared, "On behalf of Hydra’s current leader, Alexander Pierce, and our supreme ruler, Hive, I hope you’ll help us deal with a certain problem."
"You?"
Glenn cast him a sinister glance and coldly said, "What are you supposed to be? A piece of trash like you isn’t qualified to stand before me."
Grant’s face instantly turned crimson. Veins bulged across his entire body as he let out terrified screams.
"N-No... no..."
Grant shrieked in terror, "You can’t kill me, Glenn Talbot!"
Bang!
Glenn didn’t move at all.
He merely gave Grant a cold, arrogant look.
Grant’s body swelled like a balloon inflated beyond its limit before suddenly exploding from the inside out. Blood and chunks of flesh splattered across the entire corridor.
"You’re next."
Floating in midair, Glenn revealed a cruel, chilling smile.
"Every S.H.I.E.L.D. bastard... deserves to die!"
