It froze abruptly in front of Rong Taotao’s face. Its turbid eyes stared blankly at the Snow Burst Ball before it, as if it had suddenly disconnected and forgotten how to react.

Rong Taotao’s Snow Burst Ball, however, never detonated. It simply spun rapidly in his palm while the Great Xia Dragon Sparrow in his left hand precisely pierced the Snow Ghost between the eyes!

Do Snow Ghosts have combat abilities? Of course, and when they take physical form, their combat prowess is quite impressive!

But the problem was, it had spent its entire existence shattering into mist. Now, suddenly afraid to do so, it had lost its habitual fighting style. Its mind couldn’t seem to process the change; not only was its defense gone, but its offense was too...

However, the enemy’s reaction wasn’t the most frightening part.

Rong Taotao’s commands, one after another, had no inflection whatsoever. His voice was terrifyingly steady.

It was as if he felt no emotion, truly treating the Corpse Tide as a mundane affair. He had grown numb...

Gao Lingwei’s performance was no less impressive. The moment Rong Taotao’s words left his lips, she had already finished executing his command.

A formidable fighter, she had forced herself to become a tool, a blade in Rong Taotao’s hand, to be wielded at his will.

Amidst the Corpse Tide, Gao Lingwei and Rong Taotao stood shoulder to shoulder, blocking left and right, dodging and weaving through the endless army, carving out a bloody path.

On the cliff above, Rong Yang couldn’t help but marvel in silence.

He marveled not only at their seamless coordination but also at their method of attack.

If their defense could be considered normal, then their offense was...

Between the eyes, between the eyes, always between the eyes!

The blade and halberd flashed, again and again, using the most direct and effective means to swiftly reap the Snow Corpses and Ghosts surging toward them, releasing and liberating one lost soul after another.

Not until the two had cut a path from west to east across the canyon floor did Rong Yang finally send a message into his mind: "Taotao."

"Hm?"

"Come up. I came to see you."

"Coming, coming." As they spoke, Rong Taotao and Gao Lingwei were already scaling the cliff face, running straight up.

"You’re here," Rong Taotao said, standing before Rong Yang.

For once, a hint of inflection colored his voice.

Rong Yang looked at his younger brother, pondering for a long moment before reaching out to straighten his naturally curly hair, which was tinged with frost and snow. "Started using a one-handed halberd?"

"I need my other hand for Snow Burst, mainly to intimidate the Snow Ghosts." Rong Taotao shook his head. "It’s not exactly wielding it with one hand. I have two legs; I can kick the Halberd Shaft."

Rong Yang thought for a moment, then said, "You’ve grown a lot. I saw an Elite-tier Snow Burst."

Rong Taotao nodded, wiping the frost and snow from his hands.

Rong Yang turned to Gao Lingwei. She gave a slight nod. "Brother."

Sigh...

Looking at the two of them, who had just fought their way out of a Corpse Tide yet both wore completely blank expressions, Rong Yang didn’t even know what to say.

"Let’s go. I brought some food." Helpless, Rong Yang could only suggest this, hoping to let them relax and pull themselves out of the mindset required to face a Corpse Tide.

"You don’t have to worry about us, Brother." Gao Lingwei’s voice suddenly came from behind him. Though her tone was somewhat detached, her words were meant to be comforting. "This kind of training is a complete metamorphosis for us. Both physically and mentally."

Rong Yang was noncommittal and didn’t respond.

’Is that really the case?’

’However, this so-called metamorphosis isn’t necessarily a good thing...’
