It froze abruptly in front of Rong Taotao’s face. Its turbid eyes stared blankly at the Snow Burst Ball before it, as if it had suddenly disconnected and forgotten how to react.

Amidst the Corpse Tide, Gao Lingwei and Rong Taotao stood shoulder to shoulder, blocking left and right, dodging and weaving through the endless army, carving out a bloody path.

Not until the two had cut a path from west to east across the canyon floor did Rong Yang finally send a message into his mind: "Taotao."

"Come up. I came to see you."

"Coming, coming." As they spoke, Rong Taotao and Gao Lingwei were already scaling the cliff face, running straight up.

"You’re here," Rong Taotao said, standing before Rong Yang.

For once, a hint of inflection colored his voice.

Rong Yang looked at his younger brother, pondering for a long moment before reaching out to straighten his naturally curly hair, which was tinged with frost and snow. "Started using a one-handed halberd?"

"I need my other hand for Snow Burst, mainly to intimidate the Snow Ghosts." Rong Taotao shook his head. "It’s not exactly wielding it with one hand. I have two legs; I can kick the Halberd Shaft."

Rong Yang thought for a moment, then said, "You’ve grown a lot. I saw an Elite-tier Snow Burst."

Rong Taotao nodded, wiping the frost and snow from his hands.

Rong Yang turned to Gao Lingwei. She gave a slight nod. "Brother."

Sigh...

Looking at the two of them, who had just fought their way out of a Corpse Tide yet both wore completely blank expressions, Rong Yang didn’t even know what to say.

"Let’s go. I brought some food." Helpless, Rong Yang could only suggest this, hoping to let them relax and pull themselves out of the mindset required to face a Corpse Tide.

"You don’t have to worry about us, Brother." Gao Lingwei’s voice suddenly came from behind him. Though her tone was somewhat detached, her words were meant to be comforting. "This kind of training is a complete metamorphosis for us. Both physically and mentally."

Rong Yang was noncommittal and didn’t respond.
