Chapter 2988. Dragon’s Escape
"The fire mana that is being brought in to the dungeon is increasing. The care it is receiving has grown. I have sent even more out from here to procure fire mana crystals and fire elemental materials." Remey found that Ignus was the only one guarding the fire dungeon growing here now.
She had been curious, but when she saw that Ignus was now sharing some of his mana with the dungeon, she understood.
"So it’s growing faster because we are giving it exactly what it needs? That’s pretty great. I bet Walker will be here any second to say he has some idea or wants to try something. But this dungeon might be all about dragon fire by then." She laughed imagining what he might say seeing that it could already have finished developing.
While they all knew it would take a much longer time to develop, they were all very understanding of the fact that nothing waited in Genesis.
It was just a fact that everyone and everything grew quickly and unexpectedly. The advancements, knowledge, and apparently even dungeons that had been crafted by Walker were voracious in their growth.
"The fire wheat is growing better too. The dragonkin I have sent to learn farming are already being asked for their secrets. It may just be their magic affinities though." Ignus leaned toward a larger patch of farmland nearby.
This had been a project started the moment that the dungeon had been confirmed and Ignus had gone to grab a few of the fire affinity dragonkin who had been studying within the demi-human lands.
He had done so because he believed that the herbs and plants nearby would be very valuable and Walker had also suggested this. Therefore, he was not unhappy to experiment with this since those drinking could be trusted to keep the secrecy of the experiments here to themselves.
It was also important that it looked like a farming experiment to those outside so that they would not get foolish ideas and peek in to the development of a literal dungeon.
No one could tell what dangers were present if it was bothered or if someone toyed with it when they did not have the skills or knowledge.
Not that Walker had those too well either, but he could mitigate any damage that might be caused as well.
"It has grown to be the largest flame wheat harvested in recorded history, it also has a rougher outside grain texture. From what I was told, it is producing more grains overall as well." The shifting larger stocks of red wheat were rubbing against one another causing small sparks to appear and in some cases slightly violent bursts of flame.
This was normal since this variety of wheat grew in the lava fields and would only begin to change when properly burst on to the flames. Afterwards, it would leave red grains behind that would sprout in to new stalks of wheat if left alone to sit on cooled magma stones.
It would always need a lot of fire mana, but here, it was getting the most that it had ever received. Proving that the naturally grown flame wheat might never have received the pure fire manas it needed to grow to its full potential.
And in that potential there was more fire affinity food for those who needed to consume fire affinity foods as nutritious value in their diets.
"I wonder if the other plants are doing well. I have a few of the herbalists and alchemists nearby as well." Remey was about to head toward them when she noticed the exact person she expected to appear sooner than later.
"Remey! Guess what!? There are herbs over there that have fruits on them! The herbalist said that they didn’t even know that they could grow fruits!" His hand hand was full of bright red and orange berries that seemed to radiate a fairly pure fire mana but also seemed to do so by starting to burn what they touched.
However, Walker had the resistance and tougher body to be able to handle such things.
"This was from a red tongue leaf plant. Shaped like a lizard’s tongue and red and yellow leaves suddenly had a longer sprout that unfolded in to the berries before turning from yellow to orange and red. It’s pretty amazing. The herbalists said that they believe it could be used to induce fevers or even to help heat a body when it is too cold. But that if not processed it would be dangerous and burn people due to the concentrated fire mana within."
He was showing the berries to both Ignus and Remey who were somewhat expectant of this sort of behaviour now. But they were also very impressed that the herbs had grown differently too.
These two plants were examples of things that had not been receiving the right amount of mana as nutrients this whole time. They had needed more but the world had been unable to provide it due to the fact that it had been cut off from the flow of fire mana within the elemental planes.
Therefore, now it was finally living through the whole lifespan that it needed to to produce fruits or better grains. This was the case for many other plants causing the farmers and herbalists to always be publishing new knowledge or surprising enlightenments within their journals.
It was always an amazing day for them and this was a major part of the boom happening within these fields.
So many new herbalists, alchemists, and farmers appeared every single day to feed and help the people of the world. It would only increase since the populations were growing and the known trade routes with different races were growing as well.
"I can use these, but first you need to tell us what you’re going to do about that hungry thing." Remey pointed at the constant flames where the dungeon core was buried.
"Oh, I learned that pieces of material and plants need to be added to make it develop in certain directions. That’s why it is consuming so much mana. It’s trying to build what is around it in to the space inside it. Shape the mana and what is already there physically to be what it can be."
Walker stepped forward appraising the core and area multiple times before he looked at Ignus with a wide grin.
"Dragon related?" The desiring comment had hints of excitement that Ignus couldn’t hide. As much as he preferred his serious and prideful act, Ignus had let it slip more and more as he found joy within Genesis. He was an entirely different dragon at this point.
"Yes, added on to the appraisal is a title actually. Apparently, some dungeons can get titles related to what helped them grow making them better for certain races or materials and plants to grow there. In this case, it’s changed the name of the dungeon developing entirely."
Ignus stomped his foot in joy hearing this. If he hadn’t been in his dragonkin form the entire ground would have shaken. Luckily he was in dragonkin form and not dragon form since that would have scared quite a few people.
"It’s called flame dragons’ escape. The title spark of the fire dragon. It’s absorbed so much fire mana from fire dragons that it is the perfect place for a fire dragon to heal and recover their mana. But it still is an ideal place for other races to train their fire resistance as well."
Listening to this, Remey was reminded that the dungeon would be used to train people who would go to the fire elemental plane. But now that it was like this, it could be used to heal fire dragons specifically. Especially those who had older wounds and needed a place to take away some of their pain and burden.
It was not at all strange to say that the violent history of dragons left many with Injuries that plagued them daily. It was the same for many of the ancient older generations of each race.
"Then that means we’ll need more materials related to dragons? And what about dragon runes? Would those form or be better crafted there?" This entirely stopped Walker’s thinking. He didn’t even start to believe this was something possible and Remey had come up with it as a question right away.
"I think we can make more to this than I even realized. Remey, I think you and Ignus need to get some pieces of fire dragon history so we can leave it to be consumed as the dungeon core grows." He made both Remey and Ignus’s eyes light up at this.
It wasn’t a simple training dungeon any more. It had become something that would be insurmountable before for the fire dragons and everyone of proven to be the right method. They just needed to trust and give the right care now.
