Me, Adventurer! - Undoubled Skills Are Flat Magic (WEB Version)

Episode 159 - What lurks at the bottom of the woods

It was a swamp made at the bottom of the tundra.

The plot itself is rounded about four kilometers in diameter, and is determined about fifty meters deep in a deep dish-like shape. An almost circular surface of water, about a kilometre in diameter, still quietly reflects the sky in its centre. There are few waves standing, either because the wind does not enter. There are streams flowing in from the east side but the flow is thin and doesn't seem to affect the whole thing enough.

There is no river running out of the swamp. I guess it's stuck in the ground and groundwater. Maybe that's how the water that poured in shredded the perimeter and created this clay.

The swamp water is clear there, but reddish like light tea. Deep in the middle even looks red and black. Is it the one called Stain? I don't see much in Japan, but overseas it seems to be the occasional water quality. I read it in a fishing book.

On the shore, you can see quite a variety of vegetation, including exposed trees with roots like mangroves, reed-like tall grass, and green moss-like tall grass. Dark green. It's summer already, but colorful flowers are blooming, too. A few stand-up trees in the swamp would have sunk in the process of being able to swamp. The beige-like white tea trunk doesn't look like some kind of bone.

On the surface of the water, aquatic plants similar to lotuses grow in several places near the shore. Not the type with leaves open at the end of the shaft, like Rencon, but the kind that floats on the water, like Onybus. It sounds like it when the frog's on it, but unfortunately I don't see it.

There seems to be a significant number of demons living around the swamp, and there are various reactions, large and small, to the perception of signs. Of course there's a reaction in the water. Looks like proper living water, not dead water.

And the dragonfly at heart says:

"And you're flying."

"Hey, I heard you talking, but you're so big for a homma!

"Well, it's not the same dragonfly you usually see."

"Oh, well, if you're human, you can hold it and fly."

There he is. There are more than five of them just visible on camera. I think I can accomplish the request, but I feel bigger than I was asking about its size. The dragonflying sweeping over the swamp, even though I was listening two meters weaker from the edge of the wing to the edge, is nearly twice its size, no matter how I look at it. The big guy could be over four meters. Again, when the magic vegetables are thick, the demons seem to get huge. Everyone's voice is rubbing against its beauty on the monitor plane.

And dragonflies aren't the only ones on the monitor plane.

White butterflies like monsieur chow flying around the swamp (?). This guy also has wingspan over a meter. A flower about the size of a cousin looks like a circle of cashmere. The bee-like worm competing for its butterfly and honey collection is also still super large, more than twenty centimeters long. Wouldn't you be able to tie up a thyman with a male bee in this size? No, in that case, is the tin bee similarly large? From the ratio, it's not strange to go over fifty centimeters. Looks more dangerous than a big claw bear. Let's hope he's not here.

"It's the kingdom of giant insects. It's like you're getting smaller."

"This is a boulder. I feel a little scared."

"They're going to eat me."

"... Atashi is not delicious. Maybe."

No heart or everyone's face is blue. Sure, if we get close to the detour, we're going to get gullible with that big jaw. Dragonflies are carnivorous, both larvae and adults. They say a normal-sized dragonfly eats a cunt or a mosquito, but that giant would be able to feed even the big mammal there. That's the goblin. Instead, the hobgoblin, maybe even the pig man can eat it. Human beings are no exception.

"It could be dangerous to get close, so let's just send in the camera and the microphone to see how it looks. There might be some big bugs in the swamp and the woods around it."

If it's a semi or a bat, it won't go out of style if there's a giant G. We need close investigation. I'm guessing you haven't evolved mysteriously and become human, have you? Jeez.

"Oh, right. Bugs can flock, and it's best to make sure they're safe before they move!

"A herd... just don't be scared! Subybo, we're out!

"Uh-huh. If I find one of the black guys out in the kitchen..."

"Oh. Anya, if you say any more, I'll skip dinner, okay?

"Ugh!?"

After all, you're all girls. I don't seem to like bugs. Luca slammed off Anya's inadvertent remarks with a black smile. For Luca, the cook, they're nothing but enemies.

That's right. I'm a little scared of big bugs up there, too. I mean, I don't like bugs in the first place. 'Herd bugs', to be exact. Almost invincible, my planar magic, because it's one of the few natural enemies. One or two would be perfectly fine, but it would suck a little if they attacked me in a group. Numbers of violence are not insulting. The dragonflies won't swarm, so they'll be fine, but the bees look like they should be careful.

So for a while, it was investigated using cameras and sign detection from outside the enclosure. Safety first.

Explore magic with signs perception and move the camera there to confirm. What I found after about an hour of repeated plain work was that this cove was a paradise for giant insects.

Bugs on the ground and in the air are enormous without exception. In particular, the more carnivorous bugs appear to tend to be the more massive.

In carnivorous worms other than dragonflies, spiders and kamakiri could be confirmed.

The spider, unlike the great spider on the outer edge of the Great Forest, is a fast running Acida cagmo guy. Splinter type to chase and catch prey. The leg is about quadrupled in size and much larger than the average adult male. White gray throughout, with a slightly brownish gray, faint-faced pattern on the back of the abdomen. I have amazing thin clear soft hair all over my body, blah blah blah creepy. Running is fast, and climbing trees is fast. I don't want to come near this. When it appeared on the camera, there was a huge scream from the women.

Kamakiri has a brown body color with a white spot pattern and a little over three meters in length. How about a little bigger than the one where some fighter fought in image training? The form was a very ordinary kamakiri, and there was never a sickle pair left or right. However, for being huge, its body looked stiff. When it comes to fighting from the front, it could be quite a formidable enemy. Bugs are powerful.

The herbivorous worms were also enormous, even if not as dragonflies and kamakiri. My natural enemy, the Inago-based bat, could be confirmed by someone over fifty centimeters, and the G could be confirmed by someone about thirty centimeters. At the time of discovery, more screams had risen from the women than they did when they were spiders. As far as I'm concerned, I'm relieved that the mystery hasn't evolved. Just a little.

On the other hand, some insects were not very huge. It's a classic giant ant in fantasy, but from what I've investigated, it was only about five centimeters in size at most. No, it's big enough, but other than that, it's too big. But ants flock, so they could be the most difficult enemies if they were to fight. It's a "zero carpet" in real life. There were other dangouts, walruses, and semis, but they were all a little bigger than normal.

On the other hand, the creatures in the water were all very normal sizes except for the goats. There were more than fifty centimetres of stuff in fish similar to catfish and carp, but as a fish it's not particularly unusual size either. Rather, it may be small for subtropical fish. The goats were eating me. Goats with more than sixty centimeters are no longer the same as aliens. My chin stretches.

"There's only fish and bugs, right? It's like a bug-eating frog or a lizard."

"Let it go. They ate it the other way around?

"It's that size, it's possible. The beast may have been expelled for the same reason."

Hmm, isn't that an impossible story? I don't think there are frogs and lizards that can eat worms that size. It's not like there's a wall, we just need to get out of this mess if they're going to eat us. If you had a little wisdom, you'd be out of this mess.

Is that it? Something caught my mind right now. I don't know, I think I'm missing something, there's some weird discomfort. Hmm?

"Well, that's good. If there are so many of them, they won't go extinct even if they're about two or three less. Let's hunt and get back to the city. You can't get sick of being so stupid."

"Uh-huh. Those guys who eat fish are enemies of Atashi! You don't mind a little less!

"... it doesn't look good"

Says Samantha as she rubs her arms with both hands. I know how you feel. I feel weird and itchy, too.

They look like worms to Daisy, but worms as ingredients aren't uncommon. I hear spiders taste like chocolate, and I've heard of butterfly pupae chocolate. But it's the same with me that I'm not willing to eat. There's something else I can eat.

"So it's time to get down to the swamp. If there's a big bug, hunt it, otherwise leave it alone."

"" "" "" "Yes!

The material you collect doesn't have to be dragonfly eyes. If it's the size you can get for a lens, it's fine for bees or kamakiri. It would not be good to hunt only a single species and the ecosystem collapses, so you should hunt it without 10,000 times.

"Watch your step because the roots of the tree are hidden by dead leaves... yeah? What's the matter, Woo?

About a minute after I started going down the slope of the clay, Woo suddenly pulled over my vest hem. My ears and tail are lowered and I have a troubled look on my face.

Woo is smart. I don't bite for no reason. There's nothing particularly unusual about the sign detection, but I'm sure you've detected something dangerous. Something only Woo feels...... smell, gas? But bugs fly normally. No, it can also be a gas that only works on mammals. Do you want to check it out?

"Cristella, check the balance magic on this ambient air. Is there some kind of weird gas mixed up?

Christella teaches that air consists of several types of molecules. I've had the composition of the atmosphere examined with that before, and it turns out that it's about the same as Earth except that a few percent of the magic elements exist. If there was anything else mixed with the atmospheric component of this tundra, that would be the poisonous gas component.

"Yes! Yes, I did!... There's a lot more magic than the city, but there's nothing unusual about it. It doesn't seem to be poison gas."

"Really...... yeah? Daisy, what's wrong? You look pale, don't you?

Listening to Cristella's report, it caught my eye that Daisy was looking sick. I'm blue-faced and sweating. If you look closely, Samantha is blue-faced in the same way.

"... headache. I'm gonna throw up."

"Atai too...... even though she was doing well earlier"

"Huh! Everybody, I'll be right back! Something sucks!! I don't know what caused it, but it's dangerous here!

Hurry up and get everyone on the plane and take them out of the ground at high speed! I knew there was something here! Gas!? Bacteria!? Or magic!?

Anyway, we have an emergency!
