Me, Hydra

I, Hydra, chapter 16.

The old power seemed to have returned to Odin once more, and the only remaining left eye showed the sharpness of a gang of falcons.

There was no time to grieve the loss of a child, the giants had soldiered on to the Rainbow Bridge.

"Dusk has not yet come, and I, for one, have not yet fallen!!!"

On the other side, a meteor streaked through the air and smashed a large hole in the dense forest. Relying on the protection of Odin's divine power, Thor's body did not suffer any physical injuries.

The discomfort from his body made Thor feel a little uncomfortable, and the coarse clothes were a little unpleasant for Thor who was used to wearing fine clothes.

The tears left by his father as he sent himself away impressed Thor.

Shaking his head, Thor steadied his mind. Although he no longer had the power of the gods, even so, Thor possessed superior strength.

"Father said that the city-state called Sparta should be in the south..."

Just thinking about it, suddenly there were some sounds coming from the jungle.

This made Thor feel a little tricky, now he was only a mortal, facing the tiger and the panther and the jackal and the wolf, but when facing the beast, he was only food!

As I was thinking about it, the person who came out of the dense forest made Thor relieved.

It was a man, probably around sixteen years old, about the same age as himself.

However, unlike Tor's handsome appearance, this guy was born with a lion's nose, fat lips, bulging eyes, a short body and a messy beard. It looked like one of those wild dwarves that lived in the underground Ironforge Fortress.

"Are you alright, I just saw a meteor land here, are you unharmed?"

The unfamiliar man seemed very self-conscious, which made the ever-proud Thor a little uncomfortable.

"Still, okay. Ahem! Who are you?"

The hasty answer left Thor a little bewildered, but he soon found out about it, and in an attempt to maintain his pride as the son of a god, Thor immediately retorted the question, trying to highlight his difference in this way.

But the strange man didn't care in the slightest, and instead said with a silly look on his face, "My name is Socrates, and I'm from Athens, Greece. I've heard that Sparta has vast knowledge there. So I want to go somewhere to learn more. Do you want to come along too? It is a very happy thing to swim in the ocean of knowledge."

At Socrates' invitation, Thor looked even more uncomfortable. You know, the Asgardian gods' names were silent as they had to face daily attacks from the giants, and no god had ever been so talkative, for it was the convenient passing of orders on the battlefield that was to be advocated.

"Both, since you have said so, I will reluctantly agree. But! Remember, it's just the same road, I don't think of you as a friend oh!"

"I know, I know, can you tell me about your hometown? I'm curious as to what the cities outside of Athens are like."

Nodding happily at Socrates' words, Thor was proud of his hometown and being able to let more people know about Asgard was more important to Thor than the recognition he had received.

"Of course! My homeland is called Asgard, where the names of the gods fight valiantly, and the evil giants..."

So joking and laughing, the handsome Thor and the dwarf-like Socrates took off on their journey to Sparta.

This was probably the first friend Thor had ever made.

But he would never admit it~~.

........

This book doesn't follow the timeline of the main history, which means at any moment there could be something like Vikings, Japanese Samurai, Knights, or Hogsheads that aren't in the same timeline as the main history.

As for Socrates...he's a teacher of Plato and a teacher of Aristotle. Don't underestimate him~.

Volume 1: Text-22 - In the City of Sparta

"Is this Sparta? It looks good though..."

After interrogation, the strange pair of Thor and Socrates finally made it to the city-state of Sparta.

Although not as large and grand as the Golden Palace, the Spartan city-state in front of them revealed an inexplicable atmosphere, with the cities arranged neatly. A different kind of vitality emanated from this city.

People could often be seen standing in front of a strange iron thing at the end of the street, holding the handle and undulating it up and down a few times to gush out a sweet spring.

"That's a pressure well."

"A pressurized water well?"

Thor, confused, turned his gaze to Socrates beside him, and Socrates did not hold back in the slightest...

"It's said that the city developed it to solve the water problem of the residents, and that the iron pipe goes deep into the underground water system and then draws water up using a principle I don't know yet. It's a good thing, with this thing the residents don't have to go to the river hundreds of meters away to fetch water, they can just sit at home and get the sweet spring water from the mountain."

"Oh...is that so..."

Touching his head, Thor appeared to come to a realization.

Nodding, Socrates continued.

"More than that, don't underestimate the city-state of Sparta. It is said to have the most perfect drainage system in use, and since it has officially become a city-state, there has been no flooding for over a hundred years. Don't look at the Sparta City State as being so large, in fact the official population of Sparta is only about fifteen thousand people."

"Why?"

Tor Game doubted it, as the city looked like it must be at least two hundred thousand people away.

Shaking his head, Socrates explained.

"Before Hydra became the religion of Sparta, the population of Sparta was just over 5,000, and the reason for the slow population growth was that the Spartans were extremely martial, and those who were originally untouchables or slaves could only officially become members of Sparta if they won more than forty times in a row in the arena. Because of this, Sparta's elite army of 300 was known as the strongest army in Greece. Although the other city-states don't agree on the surface, behind the scenes everyone knows it's true."

"Where do I find you guys to say that... Sparta's cultural heritage shouldn't be complete, right?"

Shaking his head once more, Socrates stood on tiptoe and patted Thor on the shoulder, his expression somewhat helpless.

"I don't understand why you've come to Sparta without knowing anything about it."

"Ahem, what do you care! Explain!"

Nodding, Socrates continued.

"This is inseparable from Sparta's spiritual leader and belief, Hydra-Hydra. It is said that fifty years ago Hydra awakened the demons of the deep as well as the sister who could petrify them just by staring at things, Medusa spent fifty years building a great library that no other city-state could build for two hundred years, it is said that there are more books in it than the stars in the sky, to me it is like a heaven of knowledge!"

With a shrug of his shoulders, Thor was indifferent.

"More than that, I prefer martial arts that enhance my strength..."

On the other side, hiding in the Great Temple, Hydra felt everything in the Spartan city-state through the Earth Goddess Grid.

"Thor?..."

Hydra opened her eyes, Thor was the Norse god in charge of war and agriculture. Thor's duty was to protect the safety of the gods' kingdoms and patrol farming on earth, and the Norse legend says that when a thunderstorm broke out, it was Thor who came out in his carriage to patrol, so they called Thor "Thor". More importantly, Thor was so powerful that he was second only to Odin among the gods, and his "Mjolnir" (Thor's hammer) was the most valuable weapon that made Thor invincible, so the giants, who were hostile to the gods, feared Thor, and as long as Thor was with the gods, the giants would not dare to do anything to the gods.

The fact that Thor was allowed to come to Sparta to study, then it proved that the twilight of the gods was not far from Odin and the others. It was estimated that in another two or three hundred years the twilight of the gods should have arrived. Now the Asa clan is an important help for themselves, and Odin, a guy who reads deeper into it, actually has little heart for his friends, and it's still good to help out in the necessary moments.

Another thing that Hydra should be aware of is Socrates next to Thor.

This guy is no slouch, he's the master of Palatine, who was Aristotle's master. Socrates was an important founder of ancient Greek culture, and it could be said that without Socrates' existence ancient Greek culture could not have been so splendid.
