For instance, a Barrett, although a large-caliber sniper rifle and semi-automatic, is unsuitable for marksmen.

Snipers emphasize one-shot kills, targeting key objectives, and primarily aim for first-shot accuracy; thus, the primary, secondary, and tertiary requirements for sniper rifles are precision.

Due to the differences between designated marksmen rifles and sniper rifles, designated marksman rifles are mostly semi-automatic, whereas sniper rifles are more precise bolt-action rifles; this is an imprecise but simplified distinction.

In today’s technological context, the boundary between designated marksman rifles and sniper rifles has blurred, as with high precision, there is no issue using a designated marksman rifle as a sniper rifle.

For example, Gao Yang’s Blade of Satan is a designated marksman rifle tailor-made for Gao Yang; however, with its extreme precision, using it as a sniper rifle pursuing ultimate first-shot accuracy is no issue, so it’s challenging to categorize Blade of Satan as a designated marksman rifle or a sniper rifle using the semi-automatic standard.

However, bolt-action rifles, primarily seen as sniper rifles, are challenging to use as designated marksman rifles due to their low rate of fire, especially those professional bolt-action large-caliber sniper rifles, which certainly can’t be used as support weapons for squad combat.

For example, the McMillan TAC-50, AW50, these bolt-action large-caliber rifles are absolutely unsuitable for use as designated marksman rifles.

Even if the caliber is reduced and recoil is lowered, some excellent sniper rifles are still unsuitable for use as designated marksman rifles, such as the AWP, Remington M700.

That is to say, some high precision semi-automatic rifles made for marksmen can be used as sniper rifles, but some rifles made specifically for snipers cannot be used as designated marksman rifles.

As a marksman who occasionally moonlights as a sniper, Gao Yang cannot have any more expectations for his gun because the Blade of Satan almost meets all his needs.

High precision, high rate of fire, long range, these elements Blade of Satan all possess, only lacking one thing: high power, since Blade of Satan is 7.62mm caliber, a typical precision shooting rifle caliber, unable to match the power of those sniper rifles with a caliber reaching 12.7mm, so Blade of Satan can be said to almost meet all needs but not truly fulfill all needs.

A 12.7mm machine gun can continuously fire without issue, but a high rate of fire means it can’t be controlled for pursuing high precision, 12.7mm Barrett can shoot semi-automatically without issue meeting precision shooting requirements, but the massive recoil prevents the realization of the rate of fire, so performance exists but is meaningless for marksmen.

In recent years, a new bullet type has emerged, the .338 Lapua Magnum round, known in metric as 8.6X70mm, with power significantly larger than 7.62 rounds but smaller than 12.7 rounds; recoil is greater than 7.62 rounds yet much smaller than 12.7 rounds.

Many guns have been developed using .338LM rounds, both bolt-action and semi-automatic, but these newly produced guns are not well-suited as designated marksman rifles; bolt-action doesn’t need much explanation, semi-autos aren’t appropriate as marksman rifles either, due to being too large and heavy, and power somewhat excessive, for instance, the British Army uses the AWM.338LM as platoon-level support weapons, not squad-level support weapons.

There’s been so much said, not as nonsense but to highlight how challenging what Alexander achieved is.

Alexander designed and created the latest masterpiece, using .338LM rounds, a large-caliber precision shooting rifle tailor-made for marksmen.

The rate of fire is extremely fast; the gun can shoot as fast as the shooter can without being meaningless, it’s the type of fast where the shooter can rapidly return to the status to continue firing.

The precision is extraordinarily high; if you miss, it’s the shooter’s fault, definitely not the gun’s.

The range is exceedingly long, much longer than 7.62, and again if you miss at long range, it’s the shooter’s fault, not the gun’s.

Most crucial and difficult is the power, which can’t be described as super-large but is extremely, extremely, extremely potent; while a 7.62 round might not necessarily kill, this gun guaranteedly will!

The only problem for Alexander now is that he and Jack have developed the gun, but no one can realize its value; no one can verify whether his labor of love truly exists, for a designer, there’s nothing worse than this, so after experiencing numerous failures, he can only pin his hopes on Gao Yang.

To ensure Gao Yang could reach him immediately, Alexander teased Gao Yang without sharing specific data, which was enough to make Gao Yang overly excited and enough to draw him over instantly, simply because Gao Yang is a marksman, and the top marksman.
