How Karl and the others were rescued, there are some details Gao Yang doesn’t know, and the janitors wouldn’t be generous enough to tell everything.

"How were you rescued, don’t you know? You went through everything and remained conscious."

Gao Yang’s casual remarks won’t dismiss Karl, who seriously said, "I want to know how you did it. What I saw was just a small part, and there are too many unexplained points."

"Like what?"

"How did your people find us? Don’t say it was a coincidence, and don’t say you predicted where we would escape, because we ourselves didn’t know where to go."

Gao smirked, saying, "When the police found you, I naturally knew where you were. It’s that simple, the police were ahead, we were behind, waiting for a suitable moment to rescue you."

Karl squinted his eyes slightly, pretending to ponder deeply, "We couldn’t possibly resist the helicopters in the air and had already lost the meaning of continued resistance. At that time, there were at least seven or eight helicopters, why didn’t any of them shoot? We had at least three minutes, enough time to be riddled with bullets."

Gao Yang exhaled and smiled, "I mentioned before, it cost 40 million dollars to rescue you, where do you think that money went?"

Karl honestly replied, "I don’t know."

Gao Yang extended a finger, speaking seriously, "Buying the intelligence about your location cost me 10 million dollars. Once the police found you, I knew where you were. This part cost 10 million dollars, then I hired someone to ensure you were captured alive rather than shot dead, which cost 20 million dollars, and 8 million went into paying bonuses to the operatives. The job is risky, thus high pay. Lastly, an electromagnetic bomb, critical to rescuing you, went for 2 million dollars."

Karl nodded, speaking gravely, "Yes, the electromagnetic bomb, I’m really curious where you got this thing from. From what I know, very few electromagnetic bombs in the world are actually used in combat, even fewer if they’re miniaturized."

Gao Yang laughed, speaking sternly, "America doesn’t monopolize electromagnetic bombs. As for where mine came from, that’s obviously my secret alone."

Karl seriously remarked, "I can hardly imagine the immense power needed for you to rescue us."

Gao Yang replied coolly, "America is strong, but it’s made up of people. Some things I don’t mind saying outright. First, I’m very wealthy; second, I wield influence. I can get many bigshots to assist me, within reason."

Gao Yang waved his hand, loudly saying, "And ultimately, the last part had to be done by us personally. I knew where you were; I had an electromagnetic bomb capable of completely crippling helicopters and communications, but people are the most important."

Karl knew exactly how the escape played out. He was taken from the encirclement, put on a container truck, reached the pier, hid inside a container, got on a ship, and ended up directly in Mexico.

There were even people performing surgeries and treating Prince and the others who were shot; the container was a tight yet essentially equipped lifeboat.

The whole event wasn’t extraordinarily magical; the only explanation was deploying numerous people, powerful forces, which enabled Karl and the team to escape.

Karl’s doubt now lies in how a mere Solar System Company boss could pull this off.

Adrift at sea for four days, after spending over forty hours on land, finally arriving at this well-disguised, fully equipped safe house, Karl couldn’t help but worry he fell into a new trap.

It’s because everything seemed too incredible.

Gazing at Karl, Gao Yang smiled, "Anything else you wish to ask?"

Karl shook his head, yet Gao Yang seriously said, "I know your concerns. I can’t divulge too much, but you need to know one thing: there are plenty who want Grand Ivan dead, allowing me to gain much help. By myself, indeed, I’d be incapable of all this, but with others’ aid, it’s no problem."

Karl contemplated deeply for a moment, finally nodded, then looked at Gao Yang, "I understand. So we go kill Grand Ivan and afterward we go our separate ways, is that right?"

Gao Yang smiled, "Exactly right."

Karl exhaled, stood up, approached Gao Yang, then extended his right hand, speaking seriously, "It’s a deal."

Gao Yang reached out to grasp Karl’s right hand, vigorously shaking it while smiling, "Good collaboration..."

Gao Yang barely finished speaking and suddenly felt Karl’s grip increase drastically, almost overwhelmingly.

Gao Yang didn’t attempt to withdraw his right hand, instead wildly swinging his left fist, unable to kick out his right leg due to proximity, fiercely thrusting his knee towards Karl’s abdomen.

Yet Karl was evidently prepared for this; he violently pulled Gao Yang towards him, his left arm loudly blocking Gao Yang’s punch, twisting his body to avoid Gao Yang’s knee, and once Gao Yang lost balance, his left arm clamped onto Gao Yang’s neck.

"Nobody move! If anyone makes a move, I’ll snap his neck!"

Karl hid his head behind Gao Yang’s back, slowly retreating backwards.

Li Jinfang and Frey raised their guns aiming at Karl, but they couldn’t target Karl’s head, thus unable to guarantee instantly killing him, afraid Karl would still break Gao Yang’s neck.

Karl retreated to Mike’s bed, then Mike, who seemed unconscious with eyes shut, suddenly opened them and laboriously raised his arm, holding a small scalpel.

Karl released Gao Yang’s right hand, quickly snatched the scalpel, placed it against Gao Yang’s neck, then quietly muttered, "I didn’t expect to escape, but don’t you treat me like a Monkey either."

Gao Yang exhaled, gravely speaking, "If he tries leaving, ignore me, kill him, then heal the remaining three, and use your most merciless ways to make him regret it even in Hell."

First expressing a strong stance, Gao Yang then calmly stated, "Karl, if you’re not stupid, then we have some misunderstanding, can we discuss? To avoid mutual regret."

Karl coldly replied, "First off, I didn’t mention the infamous arms dealer named Grand Ivan, moreover, at the Normandy landing memorial ceremony, the deceased was Mario. I indeed don’t know much about the so-called Underworld, but we’ve studied that shot that killed Mario for a long time!"
