Chapter 2557 - 2533: Don’t Let Your Imagination Run Wild
Leaving the safehouse, Gao Yang remarked with a hint of emotion, "Finally done, things were easier than I expected."
Li Jinfang turned his head to look, then said in a low voice, "That Karl, he’s a lot tougher than I anticipated. The way he controlled you was simple, but I had no time to rescue you, it was too fast."
Gao Yang laughed, "After all, he’s from Cerberus. I hadn’t planned on letting him control me, but unfortunately my close combat skills still have flaws. I can ambush others, but when someone ambushes me, especially at such close range with an opponent of Karl’s level, there’s simply no chance to resist."
Li Jinfang nodded, then regretfully said, "I should have had a chance to exchange blows with Karl, otherwise, there might not be another chance in the future. And I don’t know how skilled those three injured ones are. If they’re all like Karl, then Cerberus is indeed quite terrifying."
Gao Yang laughed, "They can’t be that formidable. It’s impossible for them all to be combat experts."
Looking around, Gao Yang took out his phone, and soon said, "It’s resolved, tell the brothers to pack up and meet at our base."
Leaving a block away from the safehouse, the five of them entered a shabby-looking residence, knocked on the door, and it was quickly opened from the inside.
The one who opened the door was Ivan. Once Gao Yang and the others were inside, Ivan said nervously, "How was it?"
Gao Yang spread his hands, "Done, it was simpler than I expected."
Ivan wiped his face, his tension vanished, then he sighed, "Great, as long as this step is done, the following tasks become much easier. They weren’t suspicious?"
Gao Yang went to the fridge, casually opened it to take a drink, then sat on the sofa, looking relaxed, "Of course, there were suspicions, but dispelling them is enough. Let’s hold off on questions now, or I’ll have to explain everything again once everyone gathers."
Soon, people gathered, and a parade of ten vehicles drove into the yard, all loaded with heavy weaponry: machine guns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, fake medicine, and even cloud burst bombs.
If all the firepower in these cars were used, it could instantly demolish a building.
Satan’s men all arrived, along with four from Black Demon: Tarta, Vasily, Hammer, and Glewatov, all fully armed.
As people began to disembark, Ivan shouted, "Thanks for your hard work, leave the stuff in the cars, someone will come to handle it later."
Gao Yang also laughed, "Disarm, we’re done for now."
Eileen looked at Gao Yang with concern, "Everything still going smoothly?"
Gao Yang laughed, "Everything’s smooth, there was a minor hiccup, but it was thrilling without danger, come in and I’ll explain."
For Karl and his group, Gao Yang and Grand Ivan really went to great lengths.
Getting Karl and his group out was no easy task, but getting them out was just the beginning. To have Karl and his team follow the most ideal steps required a lot more to be done.
First, Grand Ivan sent Ivan to handle it. Aside from Ivan, no one else knew what he was doing, including Uriyangko, who was kept in the dark.
When Ivan came, he brought a team of elite soldiers. If Karl and his group didn’t take the bait, they would have to decisively eliminate them. Better to lose four hundred million dollars and waste the initial effort than let Karl and his group escape uncontrolled to assassinate Grand Ivan.
As for Gao Yang, he called in all of Satan to Mexico, not just to deal with Karl but because they could head to Yemen afterward.
And as for Black Demon, Gao Yang definitely needed them for this job, as they were the most professional.
There was no need to let everyone in Satan know what was happening. Gao Yang only called Glewatov and Yake together, along with the four from Black Demon.
"Things went a lot more smoothly than we imagined. I left a flaw, Karl easily found the loophole I mentioned, but instead of pretending not to know and investigating secretly, he immediately reacted. He held me hostage, forced me to answer his questions, and then let me go."
Glewatov thought for a moment and said solemnly, "Karl is a soldier, not a spy. This behavior is normal."
Ivan quickly asked, "So he believed it completely?"
Gao Yang laughed, "I think so, and I believe Karl and his group don’t have the means or ability to investigate. How could he investigate the doubts I intentionally left behind?"
Glewatov solemnly said, "That’s his problem. Your job is to lead him to start the investigation based on the doubts you leave, until he finds what he believes to be the truth. People trust what they see, not realizing it’s deliberately shown by others."
Gao Yang laughed, "I’m not saying your plan is bad. I just mean it was easier than we thought; Karl has already taken the bait and believes the nonsense I told him."
Glewatov, without any emotion, asked, "How can you be sure?"
Yake suddenly said, "Let’s proceed as planned, let Justin’s side continue the preparations."
Gao Yang scratched his head and said with a wry smile, "I think you might be overthinking it. Karl and his group are just a few skilled soldiers. They’re not as suspicious as you. Whatever I say, they believe. If I hadn’t left any flaws, they wouldn’t suspect a thing now."
Glewatov said, "Not suspecting now doesn’t mean they won’t suspect later. If they could leave tomorrow, there’d be no problem. But they need time to recover, allowing them to think a lot. Guiding them to seek truth with the clues we left is better than letting their imaginations run wild."
Yake agreed, "A perfect, flawless reason often seems less real. We’re worried that before Karl’s escape, someone already told him not to seek Grand Ivan for national interests. If he starts wondering why you saved him, why risk so much to help his revenge plan, he’ll definitely be suspicious. He has months to imagine countless reasons. Once the seeds of doubt sprout, eliminating his suspicions becomes tough, especially when you don’t even know what he’ll suspect."
Tarta impatiently said, "Haven’t we told you before? Leave a questionable clue for him to follow our setup, it’s much easier. He’ll trust his investigation results. If Karl didn’t even consider secretly investigating and acted on the spot to get answers, that just means he’s easy to deal with."
Gao Yang snapped his fingers and laughed, "Got it, so can we proceed with the next step now?"
