Chapter 2525 - 2501: Old Gun, Old Friend
Gao Yang had a lot on his plate, and he didn’t want to waste any more time here with Alexander. He knew what to do, and it was just about using connections to help each other out. There’s no need for him to offer advice.
Checking his watch, Gao Yang said to Alexander, "We’re done here. I’m leaving. Can I get that rifle now?"
Alexander smiled and said, "I still need to showcase that rifle, then it’s yours. The new gun is already made, so consider this one a memento. You deserve it."
Gao Yang hesitated for a moment, looked at Phoenix, and then said to Alexander, "When can you make a new gun again? Can I be the first customer?"
Alexander shook his head with a resigned expression and said, "It’s unfortunate, but the production is low, and it takes too long to make them. I’m afraid Mi won’t be able to get a new gun within a month. The first one is a gift to you, but next, I have to produce a batch for myself and my brothers."
Not wanting to force the issue, Gao Yang looked at Phoenix and said, "How do you feel about this gun?"
Phoenix unhesitatingly said, "It’s great!"
"Do you want to switch guns?"
"Yes!"
Gao Yang shrugged and said, "Alright then, you can place an order, but before your gun arrives, you can borrow mine."
Gao Yang was never going to replace his Blade of Satan, no matter how good Alexander’s gun was. It was impossible to replace the Blade of Satan.
The Blade of Satan had become a part of Gao Yang, so familiar that he didn’t even have to think when shooting — he instinctively knew what to do. For that reason alone, Gao Yang wouldn’t switch guns.
Besides, the Blade of Satan was powerful enough for Gao Yang. In every other aspect, the Blade of Satan was not inferior to Alexander No. 1, and in some aspects, it was even better, so why bother switching?
And since Phoenix’s rifle could still be improved, it was better to let Phoenix use it.
Phoenix hesitated for a moment but then nodded, "Alright, I’ll return it once my gun arrives."
Gao Yang finally remembered something important and said very seriously, "Alexander, haven’t you thought about renaming your gun? You don’t plan to keep calling it Alexander No. 1, do you? That name..."
"The name is great!"
Alexander said earnestly as well, "I think the name is excellent! Even if I sell the patent, I will insist on keeping the name, otherwise, no one can buy my gun first."
Gao Yang was stunned for a moment, then smiled bitterly, "Alright, the name is great."
When you have money, you can be capricious; even if it costs billions, he wants to retain the right to name the gun after himself. Even though the name Alexander No. 1 is indeed rather awful.
Gao Yang looked at Jack and said, "I need to change the scope, and I want to do it at your place. Time is tight, so can we go there now? You can take my private jet. Private jet."
Jack laughed, "I’m just a craftsman, here to witness my work. Now that it’s done, of course, I want to go back, I’m very busy too."
Everything was taken care of, nothing more needed to be said. Gao Yang waved his hand at Alexander and said, "You should get busy with your stuff. I have things to do too, so let’s part ways here. I’ll leave you with our Liaison Officer’s number. If you need anything else, call him and you’ll definitely find me."
Alexander extended his hand and, while shaking hands with Gao Yang, said calmly, "I owe you one. If you need help, just let me know. I’ll do my best to help if I can. That’s that."
Gao Yang could finally continue his vacation. Though it took some time, getting Alexander to owe him a favor wasn’t too bad.
Leaving Denver, Glolov and Natalia would return to New York, while of course, Yelena would follow Gao Yang wherever he went.
Cui Bo was going to Ukraine to meet his girlfriend. There wasn’t much time left, and he needed to hurry, while Phoenix would stay in Portland to familiarize herself with her new gun.
As for Gao Yang, he was meeting Morgan in Portland to change the scope. And for sure, he’d do the things one would do when reuniting with a loved one after a long time apart with Yelena, so he sent his bodyguard and light bulb, Joseph, away.
Morgan wasn’t in Portland; he was busy too. So, after the private jet landed in Portland, Gao Yang and Yelena stayed in a hotel for a night. After a complete rest, they went to Jack’s workshop in the afternoon the next day.
Cui Bo brought the Blade of Satan to Portland for him, and Jack had already prepared an identical scope.
Installing a scope is something best done personally by the user.
Having been away from his gun for days, Gao Yang felt a strong sense of longing. Only after he held the Blade of Satan in his arms again did he feel at ease. In some ways, Gao Yang felt closer to the Blade of Satan than even Yelena.
While Gao Yang was attaching the scope to the rifle, Jack quietly placed a long box next to him and smiled, "You should try this one. It’s brand new and excellent. The optical performance is unparalleled, the shock resistance is superb, and the best part is that no matter the magnification, there’s no distortion. Plus, the higher magnification fits someone like you who shoots full-range."
Gao Yang considered it for a moment and pulled the box closer to him, but continued with his own scope installation.
"How much? I’ll take it with me."
"Sixty thousand. It’s pricey but worth it. Aren’t you going to switch?"
Gao Yang smiled, "No, I’m not switching. I don’t have time to get used to a new scope."
Gao Yang was extremely familiar with the Blade of Satan, and the same went for his scope. For a beginner, switching scopes might only need a few days, or even hours, because a new shooter hasn’t yet achieved the kind of unity with their tool.
But for a shooter of Gao Yang’s caliber, changing guns or scopes requires more time to adjust than a beginner.
It’s not that he can’t use it or can’t use it well, but reaching that level of familiarity, like extending his eyes, truly takes time.
There were still many matters to handle in Yemen, plenty of big and small battles. How could Gao Yang change his scope now? If he were to change, it would have to be when there were no battles.
Jack, being an expert, understood this reasoning. So all he said was, "In such a hurry, huh? I thought you’d rest for a while."
In front of Yelena, Gao Yang didn’t need to hide anything. He laughed and said, "I’ll have plenty of time to rest soon. Alright, the scope is installed. Now, let’s see if my old pal is just as accurate as before. Buddy, come with me to the range. I can’t wait any longer."
