The first exchange came without warning.

Dexter moved first a sharp jab followed by a heavy right cross that had ended many fights.

Liam slipped the jab and took the cross on his forearm, the impact cracking through the air like a gunshot.

He answered immediately with a tight combination of his own, forcing Dexter to give a half-step of ground.Around the edges of the room, no one spoke.

They settled into a brutal, intelligent rhythm. Dexter’s punches were clean and backed by years of real violence.

Liam’s movement was tighter, more fluid, built from the martial skill the System had burned into his body long ago.

Every time Dexter tried to close distance and impose his heavier frame, Liam angled off and made him pay with short, precise counters.

Every time Liam tried to press, Dexter’s guard and footwork shut the openings down. Minutes bled into each other.

Sweat and blood began to mark the concrete. Dexter’s lip split. A cut opened above Liam’s left eye. Neither of them slowed.

The sound of fists meeting flesh and bone filled the room in a steady, sickening rhythm. Jack stood near the wall with both fists clenched, bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet, a wide, almost feral grin locked on his face.

Vargas and the four strongest fighters kept close to him, ready to hold him back the moment he tried to step in.An hour passed.

Both men were breathing harder. Dexter’s right cheek had swollen. Liam’s ribs ached from a series of heavy body shots.

Still they continued circling, striking, resetting. No wild swings. They were trying to break each other with pure technique and will.

Jack couldn’t stay still any longer. He slammed a fist into his own chest hard enough to make a deep thudding sound, then dropped to one knee and punched the concrete floor twice, cracking the surface.

Vargas and the others immediately shifted in front of him."Don’t," Vargas said under his breath.

Jack’s eyes never left the fight. He was smiling so hard the veins in his neck stood out.

Another hour.

The pace never truly dropped. Dexter began to rely more on his heavier hooks and low kicks, trying to chip away at Liam’s base.

Liam answered with sharper entries and elbows in the clinch, cutting Dexter’s forehead open so that blood ran into one eye. They broke apart, both marked, both still fully dangerous.

Then Liam felt the familiar internal shift.

Vital Restoration activated without a visible sign. The deep bruise along his ribs loosened. The cut above his eye stopped bleeding as freely.

The accumulated damage that should have been slowing him began to fade at the edges. His breathing evened out while Dexter’s remained labored.

Dexter noticed.

The older man’s eyes narrowed. He had broken enough men to know when something was wrong. Liam should have been fading. Instead he looked almost fresh again.

Dexter decided to end it.

He dropped into a stance the entire room recognized the same posture he had used years ago to take control of the organization. Several of the older men sucked in a breath. Jack’s grin widened until it looked painful.

Dexter exploded forward.

His lead foot snapped up in a blurring front kick meant to force Liam’s guard high. Liam moved to slip it and walked straight into the real attack. Dexter’s rear knee drove up with vicious timing and caught him clean on the jaw.

The impact was brutal.

Liam’s head snapped back. His vision whited out for a split second. The room tilted. He staggered two full steps before his balance returned. Blood ran from the corner of his mouth. For a moment it looked like he might go down.

He didn’t.

He spat blood onto the concrete, rolled his jaw once, and came straight back in.

The shift was immediate and violent.

Liam’s strikes became heavier and faster. He closed distance with a flurry of punches that forced Dexter onto the back foot for the first time in the fight. A sharp elbow opened a second cut along Dexter’s brow.

A low kick buckled his lead leg. Dexter answered with a brutal body shot that made Liam’s breath hitch, but Liam never stopped coming.

They stopped defending.

What followed was pure attrition. Both men stood in range and traded unanswered blows heavy hooks, straight rights, elbows, knees. Blood sprayed across the floor with every clean connection.

The sound was wet and ugly. Neither gave ground. Neither covered up. They simply tried to see who would break first.

Jack was on his feet again, roaring without words, held back by Vargas and the other four men with visible effort. The rest of the room had gone completely silent.

No one had expected the fight to reach this level. No one had expected the younger man to still be standing, let alone pressing the former heavyweight.

Three hours after the first punch, Dexter’s timing finally cracked.

His punches lost their snap. His footwork grew heavy. Blood from the cuts on his forehead kept running into his eyes no matter how many times he wiped it away.

He swung a desperate right hand. Liam slipped it by a fraction and answered with a clean, short left hook that landed flush on the point of Dexter’s jaw.

Dexter’s eyes went glassy.

A second punch followed, then a third. Dexter tried to clinch. Liam broke the grip and hit him again. Dexter’s knees buckled. He dropped to one knee, then forward onto his hands. He tried to rise once more. His arms shook. Then he collapsed fully onto the concrete and did not get up.

The room exploded.

Men shouted in rage and disbelief. Guns came out in a wave of metallic clicks, every barrel swinging toward Liam. Vargas stood frozen, staring at Dexter’s unmoving form as if he couldn’t process what he was seeing.

Jack moved.

He shoved two men aside hard enough to send them sprawling, ripped a pistol from the nearest man’s hand, and turned the weapon sideways as he advanced on Liam.

His massive frame cast a long shadow under the single bulb. When he stopped in front of Liam he looked down at him with burning eyes.

"Who the fuck do you think you are," Jack growled, "coming in here and putting hands on my rival?"

He threw a punch that could have broken liam’s skull.

Liam slipped it by a hair’s breadth, then snapped his own blood-smeared knuckles straight across Jack’s eyes.

The impact wasn’t heavy, but it was perfectly placed. Blood from Liam’s cuts sprayed directly into Jack’s vision, blinding him for a critical second.

Jack staggered, cursing, wiping at his eyes.

In that second Liam stepped in, hooked Jack’s lead leg, and used the bigger man’s own forward momentum against him.

Jack’s balance vanished. The large fighter hit the concrete hard enough to knock the air from his lungs. The room went silent again.

Jack lay there for a moment, blinking blood out of his eyes. When his vision cleared he looked up at Liam still standing over him, marked and bleeding but calm.

Something shifted in Jack’s expression. The pure rage faded, replaced by a slow, almost delighted understanding. He started laughing.

The sound was deep and genuine. He pushed himself up to a sitting position, still chuckling, and waved a heavy hand at the men still pointing guns.

"Put them down," he said. "All of you."No one moved at first.Jack’s voice dropped into something far more dangerous.

"I said put them down. And go take care of your boss."

The guns lowered. Men hurried toward Dexter’s unconscious body. Vargas still hadn’t spoken. He only stared at Liam like he was seeing him for the first time.

Jack stood fully, towering over Liam, and looked him up and down once more. Then he grinned, blood still smeared across his face.

"You’re the real thing," he said. "Brain and hands huh. I like that."

Liam said nothing. He walked past him, past the men clustered around Dexter, and stopped beside Ben’s chair.

Ben was barely conscious, face ruined, breathing in weak wet pulls. Liam cut the restraints, hauled him up, and threw one of Ben’s arms over his shoulder.

He started for the door.

Behind him, Jack watched for a moment, then began following at a slow, deliberate pace.

Vargas finally found his voice and stepped after Jack."What the hell do you think you’re doing?"

Jack didn’t look back.

"What it looks like," he answered, and kept walking after Liam into the night.
