Monster no Goshujin-sama

09. Encounters in the Woods

Nine.

Another week or so passed.

Since we decided to leave Kato with the expedition, we are still living in the cave we have been using.

Spend the night in a cave, exploring the woods at noon.

Such a life cycle had been established.

I ran into all the monsters several times.

I managed to live to this day because Lily and Rose have been retreating through all of that.

That in itself is perfectly fine.

But continuing to defeat monsters also means, in other words, that every time you encounter them, they are in battle.

This means that the original purpose that is being explored, the 'increase in family members', has not worked.

I know I just have to look for temperament, but I'm in a hurry.

Again, the biggest problem would be that I'm not sure what my Monster Tame activation conditions are.

When I saw the monster, I sensibly knew 'I can't do this'.

There are stories that you didn't know when Rose was there, but that was only because you were in a hurry. As long as you stay calm, you can look at them and decide if they'll be your family.

But I don't know the terms.

If only I knew that, I wouldn't have to repeat a dangerous battle.

These days, I've even come to think that maybe the condition is somewhere I can't tell myself.

I'd like to think that's not true...

I'm home.

"Are you home?"

Lily came back to the cave, so I put my arm together, waving a wooden sword.

"Oh, I was training you."

And I smiled back in bitterness at Lily, who ran over lightly.

"Stop saying that."

"Hmm, why?

"It swells. It's just a matter of time."

Lately, in my spare time, I decided to pretend as a routine.

Kendo takes it in his choice class in high school, so I know how to do it if it's about bareback.

I don't know if it's done properly, but I can't do it if it's an imitation.

I honestly don't know if it makes sense to do this.

Well, if you keep your body moving, you might be able to move more when you have to.

I hope so, that's about it.

I don't expect much from myself in these ways.

Well, if you ask me what else I can do, I'll just have to shut up...

Instead, because I couldn't do anything, maybe I was right that I decided to work out my body, not even in my spare time.

By the way, I could have shaken the tree slice that was falling into that heap appropriately, but I asked Rose to create a wooden sword for the bareback, thinking I'd come in from the snail anyway.

It was a few days ago.

Unlike us humans, Rose doesn't need sleep, so she can spend the whole night. Nevertheless, she is busy continuing to build various items according to my instructions.

So I remember doing the request with such nuances as "I don't mind if you build it properly with one hassle," "You don't have to have a blade for anything," and "Worst of all, if the grip is tight and some length and weight is ensured, that's enough".

But apparently she got excited that she was going to make my weapons.

After a day, I was given what I had asked for, and I became an eye-catching feather.

- Even though it is made of wood, the body part emits a grey gloss.

- The grip is blackish and perverted, and feels like sucking on my palms.

- If you shake it, it's lighter than it looks, and then, it doesn't feel unreliable because of the good center of gravity.

- Very sturdy and not half cut.

- Wood patterns remain on the surface as a remnant of being made of wood, but even that can be seen in the eyes as an indication of practicality to the point of being heavy.

...... weird.

I should have said no.

Obviously it was over-spec.

I was just an amateur, but at first sight, I even felt Rose's soul as an artisan.

It's too good a job.

"It's like Damascus Steel," Lily said, referring to Miho Mizushima's knowledge. I don't know what it is, but it seems to be a very famous metal.

It was a worthless sword for me to hold.

Then I shouldn't have thought of turning this to Lily... but I couldn't say anything far-fetched in front of Rose, who gave me her sword in a way that was full of expectations.

There's no way I can tell you.

Rose is currently working on her own stock of hands and feet, but plans to do a full gear change when it's done.

It is certain that Rose is stretching his technology with each overlap of production, so the upgrade is going to continue.

This sword that I possess will not be built that way on boulders.

"Sorry, Lily. Let me go alone."

"Mmm."

When I spoke, Lily, who had hugged me in one arm just to say that it was her fixed position, pressed her flax head against her arms, as if she were a nostalgic dog.

After we finished exploring today, while we were resting at our base, she was asked to go and see how the mountain hut was doing when the food was sourced.

Of course, this is to make sure the expedition isn't back.

This was the only job Lily could ask for.

Because in case you run into an expedition, Rose, who can't distinguish herself from just a monster from her appearance, risks being crusaded by them.

In that regard, if Lily can be a human figure, she's unlikely to be attacked by a meetup.

Plus, she's getting a sharp sense of smell from eating Fire Fang meat.

of the original wolf in the main house. Although it does not extend to that, her ability to defy the enemy is quite high. It was a decision that it would be possible to return without being accounted for by their opponents if they did not even hit badly.

If there's a problem, it's about if Lily is found in a high house, but even in that case, the situation is unlikely to be immediately exposed. At least there should have been enough time to join us.

For all these reasons and the fact that Rose sometimes has a lot of other work to do, she recently relied on Lily for her solo behavior outside the cave, which is disturbing when we are human, such as food procurement.

"Has anything changed?

I repeatedly asked this question today as I stroked Lily's forehead with my fingertips, clinging to her arm and feeling satisfied.

It's bad for her to actually have it moving, but honestly, I don't expect much from her about the results.

Even if the expedition were to come back, because I was still guessing that would be the rest.

According to Kato's story, Takaya knew about the First Expedition's path.

So here we assume that the arithmetic just to catch up with the expedition stood.

Six days after the First Expeditionary Corps left, rebellion broke out in the colony.

Then within a day, I and Kato dropped the colony.

It took me three days to reach this cave. Miho Mizushima and Miho Kato were on pace, so Takaya, who has misdigits of strength as a cheat ability, has also taken a few days to reach that mountain hut.

Soon afterwards, Takaya said he followed the expedition out of the mountain hut, but no matter how hasty it was, it couldn't be that easy to catch up with someone who left more than a week ago.

Even while we're chasing them, it's more and more distant because they're moving away.

Even if we catch up, the expedition has to turn around and come back here.

For all these reasons, I expected nothing to come back for another week.

You can say that you were messing around.

"That mountain hut... or mountain hut trail. I found a shadow."

So the words returned from Lily were a betrayal of my expectations.

"Are you from the expedition back?

"I don't know. Because your husband was right, and he came right back."

"Right. No, that's fine.... but that's strange. Whatever it is, it's too soon."

"Maybe it's not an expedition. I was alone."

Lily offered other possibilities.

"Was it just one?

"Yeah. If you're an Expedition student who was incorporated into the Expedition, it's weird that you have to be in a group. Your husband came all the way from the colony to this cave by himself, and I was wondering if he was a student falling out of the colony in the same way."

"Sure, that's possible."

There are dangerous monsters in the woods, but they are not encountered as often. At best, it would be about once a day or not.

Fire fangs with very high enemy capabilities are out, but if they don't, they can often be avoided if this one is able to spot a monster first, where they encounter it.

It means you can wander around the woods if you're lucky, even people who are totally lucky but don't have any special powers.

In fact, these situations are a month since they have moved to different worlds, and may have been created by expeditions.

I was a colony residual group, so I don't know the details, but I once thought that when the colony existed, it was definitely in the expedition's radius of action up to this perimeter.

Because Takaya, a member of the expedition, knew about the existence of that mountain hut.

The expedition was moving monster elimination first to ensure colony safety.

As a result, most monsters are eliminated within the scope of their actions.

Now that I think about it, there is a good chance that some of the monsters that were hunted that way could have followed me.

It's a shame. I can't help it now.

When I think about it that way, it can be said that Lily was the luckiest thing for me to ever be hunted by an expedition.

This is how my destiny was connected when I met her.

"I need to find out who the students were at the cabin."

I made a decision.

"If he was a member of the expedition, a student of the expedition, or the survival of the expedition that remained in the colony, we need to see if it's enough to keep Mr. Kato's figure"

"... that's good"

Kato pinched his mouth when he realized it was coming nearby.

Lately, she seems to be getting a little better.

It's still dark, but it's no longer a blurry, hard way to listen.

Sometimes mealtimes, things like mealtimes make me smile all the time.

"If they weren't cheat capable...... what do you do?

Thus, we also began to obtain confirmation of our course of action.

This would be a good trend.

In a completely different dimension from the circumstance that my vigilance towards Mr. Kato has raised a level one step.

"Right..."

I will consider Kato's inquiry.

"Even in that case, the policy remains the same. Gather information by observation or direct contact"

"... why not?

"If they're not cheat capable, there's no need for us to dare to see or try to make contact. Because there is no benefit from doing so. But once Lily didn't realize it, there's a chance that some of the remaining Explorer members of the colony will be there."

"Oh. That could be possible. I'll be right back."

Lily also expressed agreement with this opinion.

I went on.

"Or maybe you know something about the colony after we escaped. If you have information I don't know, it would make sense to make contact."

"Really... thank you"

Pepper and Kato bowed their heads.

There were no further questions or objections to my opinion, and we were ready to leave the cave immediately.

While we check the landmarks on the trees, we move through the woods.

There are Lillies who can mimic Fire Fang's sense of smell, so even if we go through the same woods, we feel different in peace of mind than a week ago when we were frightened by an ambush.

Still, without alarm, we proceeded with caution.

Fortunately, I never met a monster.

There was no shadow of a week ago already in the mountain hut we reached.

By the time I visited the day after I had crushed that strange stone, the mountain hut had been destroyed by monsters.

Then a few days have passed, and that has already become a wreckage that should be called the trail of a mountain hut. The destruction of the house was progressing at an accelerating rate, as monsters came now and then.

Before it's too far away, you might not even know what building was there originally.

There was a boy student wandering around in such a place.

He's a little taller than me and just a little muscular in shape.

Although there seems to be an atmosphere of lightness, it can be said first of all that of the very common Japanese boys' high school students.

The boys moved around trying to trample and vandalize the hut trail, occasionally emitting cursing things.

... what are you thinking.

That was what I thought the moment I first saw him.

If I could speculate that the mountain hut collapsed into a monster, I wouldn't stay in a place like that for long.

In fact, I had guessed that the boy student that Lily had seen would have already moved elsewhere by the time I got here. I was going to leave tracking to Lily, who simulates Fire Fang's sense of smell, but that didn't seem necessary.

"Is he an expedition......?

You thought the same thing, Mr. Kato snapped.

If it is indeed an expedition, it is possible to move without even taking into account monster threats.

His behavior, as if he hadn't noticed the monster's threat, can't be seen as the carelessness of the strong either. But...

"No, it's not"

I denied that opinion.

That's just that I'm not aware of the danger.

Because.

"That's one of the colony remnants."

"Hey... do you know him, sir?

"Oh."

I still wandered around the trail of the mountain hut, watching him kick the wreckage into irritation, and nodded with a bitter bite.

"He's my classmate."

After a little consultation, we decided to split into lids.

Just in case.

I am approaching the mountain hut with Lily.

The bump and twinkling boy's voice began to reach his ear.

"Hey, Kaga"

"Hih."

They were concentrating too much.

When I spoke from behind, Kaga shrugged.

"... come on, don't run away"

He thought Kaga had been found by monsters. In my call again, I stopped my leg trying to escape reflexively.

For now, at this point I was convinced from Kaga's attitude that this guy was a student with no power whatsoever, as he was in the residual group.

"You guys..."

Kaga's face, who recognised us, loosened in relief.

"Mashima and... whoa, Mizushima-san!

Obviously, the second half is more tense.

That's what it was.

Even so, I'm not so familiar with this guy either.

Although Kaga was my classmate, he wasn't exactly close. I even said hello to each other in the classroom, but that was all.

I didn't really like the type.

Maybe to each other.

"You're safe!

"Kaga is the one"

I stepped forward and blocked the path, as Kaga approached Lily, who wavered her love as I had told her.

"You were well safe in that mess."

I thought this would happen, so my mind was ready.

As I expected, Kaga did what I expected.

I'm still not going to like this guy.

"Mashima"

Kaga turned her gaze at me with a slightly sharp look.

"You were well safe. Has Mashima ever acted with Mr. Mizushima?

Hiragana and Kaga's gaze was directed at Lily as we talked.

"Oh......"

I'm slightly uncomfortable, but I swallowed my emotions all the time to stay calm.

This can't be helped.

Anyway, Lily is beautiful. Now that I'm making it more loving, it looks glowing at 30% more.

It's basically nicotine in front of me, so I can always say it's the same.

"..." Mr. Mizushima "is lucky to be able to get out of the colony mess together."

I was aware of the tone of casual everyday conversation.

"From now on, we're acting together until today."

Is it done well?

How the hell did I talk in the classroom before I came to this world?

... I can't remember.

Once peaceful days were felt by an awful, distant old thing, even though it was only a little over a month ago.

"Oh well."

Fortunately, Kaga didn't look suspicious.

This is probably due to Kaga paying less attention to me than to my talent for abdominal arts.

Kaga still had a glimpse of Lily, but she finally turned to me to see if she had a fluff on the woman favorite part of herself.

"Kaga did a good job getting out of the colony, too."

"Oh. I thought you were gonna die for a while."

"We were lucky together."

"Oh. It's good to see you."

"Right."

Since there seemed to be no lies in this dialogue of Kaga, I was able to hammer it with nothing in particular.

I was relieved somewhere that a human being who knew my face was alive.

I'd rather live than die.

It's natural.

Such a natural feeling still survives in me.

I'm not doing anything like "All human beings are dead" or some kind of game lass boss.

I don't like people who don't believe in humans, so I guess I can't even be the main character.

"I just got here today. What, are Mashima and Mizushima based in this mountain hut?

"No way."

Now I may not have been able to hide my fright.

"We're hiding in a cave somewhere more discreet."

"Well, it's a cave. That's primitive."

"Even primitive is better than here.... or you, you used to wander around in such ruins. You haven't noticed? It was the monsters that did this."

"What no!? Are you serious!?

I sighed in small ways at Kaga, who was surprised at all his eyes popping out.

"Why do we humans have to destroy mountain huts that are easy to spend… you'll know when you see it doesn't even feel naturally decayed"

Other than that, if you looked at the trail of destruction, you would have known how much else.

What the hell was Kaga looking into over time?

... No. I don't know what to say anymore.

Well, let's get the hell out of here.

"Right."

Kaga prompted us in a hurry, so we left the cabin.

"Still, you guys used to be safe. Hey, do you have cheat abilities with you or something? Both Mashima and Mizushima must have been residual teams, right?

Kaga asked how he really cared about his back.

There is some anticipation in that voice.

I asked back here.

"What about you like that?

"If you have a guy like that, you can't just stick to him and leave. I was just lucky."

"Same goes for us. If I had desperately escaped, I would have come to this point if I had realized it. I picked this up, but there was no occasion to help."

I slapped a wooden sword on my hips.

"A wooden sword you can get from a magical papet."

Kaga looked weird.

"... that? Is this different?

…… I don't know anything. I just picked it up. "

As a matter of fact, Rose lost her temper.

"If I wave, it won't hit the monster opponent, so this is just for protection.... uh, it can be used when hunting small animals for food."

I'm bringing food out of the colony.

"You're a sloppy guy."

Kaga grinned skillfully pointing to the backpack he was carrying.

I'm not smart enough, but there are places like this, so I guess they've survived before.

And then, the strength of bad luck? This is not what I could have said.

Thus I walked away scratching the bush in conversation with Kaga.

These tasks were done by Rose, who had been in the lead so far, that I could breathe out for the first heavy labor in a long time.

Or Kaga. Whatever Miho Mizushima is, you can help.

"Nevertheless, I can't believe Mashima is with Mizushima"

"It just so happens."

"Are you close to saying that cave?

"Quite. It'll take about an hour, because we'll proceed with care around."

"You're the only ones here, aren't you?

"Right."

On the road, Kaga has asked about the root digging leaf digging this one.

I couldn't help but wonder. If I had ever been alone, I would still be hungry for conversation.

And, interpret it.

I don't think about anything extra. Now I just focus on making my way and walking.

"So you were coming to that mountain hut because an expedition might come"

"It'll still take some time, though. I'm not sure he'll make it."

"Still enough! Now we can survive!

"Right."

I will spend my journey to the cave answering appropriately.

Gradually we stopped asking each other questions, and the conversation shifted to something close to public discourse.

"Speaking of which, did you see those guys near here who were eaten and killed by monsters?

"A corpse in pieces?

I guess you're talking about the students I found a week ago. We've been exploring the neighborhood for a week, but we've never found a student's body.

"You still had it. What's wrong with that?

"No. That one was from the expedition."

"... what? Is that true?

This was information I didn't know.

I accidentally held my hand and looked back at Kaga.

"Oh, he must have been one of those cheat talented guys left in the colony defense, not integrated into the First Expeditionary Corps."

"That... you didn't realize"

"I don't know what else to do. He was just a soldier. He was one of Warrior's blushes. That's why the expedition couldn't even take me."

"... right"

There was something hooked on Kaga's remarks that made the dead fool of themselves, but I'll leave that for now.

He's not the kind of guy I'd ask you to be careful, and I'm not the one to be careful.

But if what Kaga is saying is true, it's going to be a little bad.

Though I didn't know, because it would mean that there are powerful monsters around here that can even kill cheat capable people.

Or maybe even a bunch of monsters were dealing with me as I stood around to protect the other students who were only a foothold and hit me bad...... I wouldn't have come over to assume the worst.

Should the base be moved in the near future?

Or should we assume that the fact that we have been able to live safely so far has already led that powerful monster away from this neighborhood...

No, that would mean being overly optimistic.

We should still think about moving.

Kaga was definitely speaking to Lily behind my back while I went through my thoughts.

I tell Lily to gavel lovingly with a smile. Because if you have a bad conversation, it can also peel off your scalp.

Fortunately, Kaga seemed only interested in even appealing to herself.

Still, do you know the situation from earlier, this guy?

What if you're dictating a woman?

Maybe this is how you dictate it because you know it.

"Here we are."

"Heh. Is this the place?"

I reached the cave without any particular problems.

Kaga looks at the cave with interest.

While I breathed heavily, I gently glanced at Kaga with the meaning of the protest.

"From now on, I'm going to ask you to help me with everything. There's a lot more to be done, like securing food. We don't have enough people."

"I know. Whoa. Come on. Leader, are you casual?

"I don't mean to. In the first place, there's only three of us, and there's no leader or anything."

"Must be."

Hehe, Kaga laughed, snarling her fingers as if she noticed something.

"Speaking of which, there's something I need to tell you."

"What do I have to tell you? What?"

"Yeah, I think so."

Like a lot, Kaga showed her how to conceive.

"Before that...... could Mr. Mizushima please go back to the cave?

"Why?"

"It's a secret conversation between men. You know what I mean?"

What are you talking about, this guy?

That's what I thought, Kaga lurked her voice a little distance away.

"I'm talking about the expedition."

"Of the expedition?

I also keep my voice down.

"Oh. Talk about when those guys will be back... or will they be back in the first place. You want to hear it, too, right?

If that's true, I have to listen.

I don't know why that would be a reason to refuse Miho Mizushima's seat.

But as far as Kaga's expression goes, he's not even going to give in here.

What choice do I have?

I turned my water to Miho Mizushima.

"I get it. Is that okay with Mr. Mizushima? I need you to go back."

"Mm. Copy that."

Nod, the girl disappears across the cave.

After I dropped it off, I turned to Kaga again.

"So? I'm talking about the expedition..."

"Fool. You might still sound like Mr. Mizushima"

Kaga blocked my words.

"It's a very exciting story. Not good if Mizushima asks me. Let's get out of here a little bit."

Without waiting for my reply, Kaga stands first and walks away.

I followed him when I took a heavy sigh in my unspeakable behavior.
